Though he has yet to make his debut for the United States, George John has already impressed at new
club West Ham United. West Ham's official site posted a lengthy article on John's first game with
the reserves. John scored 17 minutes into a 1-1 draw with Gillingham. John is with West Ham on a
two-month loan from FC Dallas with an option to buy.

George John has yet to make his debut with West Ham United, but he soon could after putting
together a strong showing in his first match since joining the club.
John, on loan from FC Dallas until the beginning of March, starred in his first game for West
Ham's developmental squad on Tuesday, putting together a strong defensive outing while scoring a
goal in the Hammers' 1-1 draw with Gillingham.
[I]n an article last year, The Economist coined the phrase `Londonism' to refer to what it
regarded as a distinct ideology driven by the office of Mayor. It cited as the central tenets of
`Londonism': enthusiasm for the financial services industry; an openness to immigration; and the
unceasing pursuit of economic growth.
Seldom has there been a less savoury title for a specific football match than The Split Testicle
Match, but this is the name that has been given to the Boxing Day League Two match between Crawley
Town and Gillingham, in which the visiting side's Chris Whelpdale suffered an injury, of which
only the most cursory of descriptions may have sent many males wincing and clutching their
groins.

Gillingham winger Chris Whelpdale is suffering a sore end to 2011 after limping out of his side's
Boxing Day match against Crawley Town with a split scrotum. The injury was sustained late in the
match after a very high challenge by Crawley's David Hunt. Whelpdale's manager Andy Hessenthaler
told BBC Radio Kent: "It's a horrific [.

There's usually two schools of thought after particularly awful matches things could be so bad
that some swear off the football for awhile, the things they've seen never to unseen. Or there's
the view that another match can't come quickly enough, regardless of whether or not it promises
something better.
The real party, of course, was on Saturday. Brighton & Hove Albion marked their arrival at The
Amex Community Stadium with a late, late win against Doncaster Rovers, but the celebrations
continued this evening with a narrow win against Gillingham of League Two. After fourteen years
waiting, though, could the new stadium possibly live up to expectations?

We are off the mark in League 1. It wasn't pretty, but a solid performance ensured that we came
away with a point against the Grecians. Chances were few and far between throughout the 90 minutes
and both Paul Tisdale and Graham Westley will be content with an opening day point in the
circumstances.

Stevenage 1-0 Fulham | Shroot 80
Pre-Season Friendly | Broadhall Way | 786
Pre-season is well underway now and Boro secured their second successive victory with a 1-0 win
over a Fulham XI this afternoon. A late strike from trialist Robin Shroot was enough to give Graham
Westley's side the win after a solid performance in the Sunday showers.
The Football League would always have witnessed a flurry of activity this past Friday given that
contract time periods tend to run from June to June, but amid the plethora of deals variously
initiated, extended and rubber stamped, the actions of Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler really
stood out. No less than six incomers were lined up for Priestfield photo shoots - most tellingly,
the capture
Faroe Play Fulham kick off season 2011-12 is a post from: Just Football
It's 7pm on June 30th, precisely one month after Swansea's play-off final triumph over Reading
heralded the close of the season. Hoards of football fans flow out of Putney Bridge station, some
adorned with white shirts, some carrying beers, but all looking distinctly out of season.
After yet another successful season at Broadhall Way, here are FC Boro's End of Season awards.
It was a much easier season than last to pick the winners. Take a look and comment below.
Player of the Season
Ashton: The FC Boro player of the season
Winner: John Ashton
There was only ever 1 clear winner this season.
A few weeks ago, that Accidental Groundhopper, Michael Hudson pondered over which Northern League
players could make an impact higher up the pyramid. Now, for the second in our series, Barry from
the superb site, The Cold End assesses the Isthmian League's finest, deploying its current
moniker The Ryman League throughout.
That's the message that Graham Westley is sending out ahead of Boro's crucial clash with Bury
tomorrow afternoon. Westley is hoping that the "siege" mentality will have a positive effect on the
game, with Boro possibly needing to win to stay in the play-off places. Referee decisions have cost
his team in their last 2 away games and GW has planted a little seed in the referee's mind ahead
of the game.
Northampton 2-0 Stevenage (Davis 3, Uwezu 59)
Official Report | BBC Report
Our play-off hopes remain in the balance after a disappointing defeat at Sixfields against
Northampton. Thanks to Macclesfield's 4-2 victory against Gillingham, we remain in the top 7, but
now have it all to do next week against already promoted Bury.
As they have done on so many occasions already this season, they cut it fine. At home against a
Dagenham & Redbridge team that is fighting tooth and nail against relegation, Brighton & Hove
Albion still managed to fall a goal behind before winning a thrilling match by four goals to three.
It has been that sort of season for the club.
Way, way back, many years ago, not long before the Premier League began, yes kids we did have
football in the 1980s, Gillingham played two home games. First up was Southend United who they beat
8-1. Next came Chesterfield, who James The Gill tells me, hadn't conceded a goal all season. Didn't
matter to a rampant Gills who put 10 past them without reply.
Football League 2 - Sunday 27th March
The clocks have gone forward, the end of the season is in sight, everyone seemed to have had a nice
lunch and despite the chill we were all set for a quiet game of Sunday football. A goalless draw
would have been very acceptable. Nothing too taxing or likely to raise the blood pressure and put
us off our teas.
Liverpool are planning a summer swoop for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Matt Jarvis.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Reds Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli is set to
reignite his interest in the 24-year-old midfield talent, and will try to bring the player to
Anfield in the summer.
Having scored the only goal to give his Wolves side a valuable three points in this weekend's
Midlands derby, Jarvis has been rewarded for his fine form with a call-up to Fabio Capello's
England team.

You sometimes hear the phrase "a game of two halves"...well this one was split into thirds, but
the points were shared.
One of Thai Port's several trialists has been identified as Jay Harris (pic below). The London born
defender made a combined total of 179 league appearances in English football for Gillingham,
Tooting & Mitcham United, Lincoln City and Crawley Town. He has also played in Norway for
Tromsdalen UIL and Alta IF, in Sweden for Enkopings SK and in Hungary for Dunaújváros FC and
Vasas SC.
Gillingham 1-0 Boro (Akinfenwa 38)
Match Report | BBC Report
It may be a new year, but it was the same, old story for Boro. Adebayo Akinfenwa's first half
header was enough to give the Gills their 5th victory in a row, whilst extending our winless run
in the league to 5.
