Inter continued its strong run of form with a sixth consecutive win on the weekend. Only this time,
the victory was not against the likes of Parma or Lecce. The Nerazzurri signaled its return to the
upper echelon of Serie A with a 1-0 win over bitter rivals AC Milan, in the latest installment of
the Derby della Madonnina.
What a rollercoaster week it has been for the Nerazzurri faithful...yet again. As expected, last
Wednesday brought about the official end to Gian Piero Gasperini's reign as Inter head coach, with
the damning 3-1 loss to Novara solidifying his fate. After zero wins in the first five competitive
matches, a stop plug was needed to halt any more of Inter's season running down the drain.
There has been some cracking action in Serie A in midweek and there was a couple of upsets
including Novara beating Inter Milan and then end of Gian Piero Gasperini reign at Inter Milan.

Word is filtering through that Gian Piero Gasperini has been sacked as Inter Milan coach the
morning after overseeing the Nerazzurri's dismal outing against newly-promoted minnows Norvara last
night -
The 3-1 defeat proved to be the straw that buggered the camel into submission, leaving Gasperini
with a pretty woeful record of one draw and four defeats in his first five competitive games.
Inter Milan coach Gian Piero Gasperini's future at the club is in major doubt after his side were
soundly beaten by newly promoted Novara on Tuesday night. Goals by Riccardo Meggiorini and a brace
from Marco Rigoni proved decisive as little Novara tore into the 2010 European Champions at the
Stadio Comunale Silvio Piola.
Napoli, Juventus, Udinese and Cagliari look to continue their winning ways midweek. While manager
Eddy Reja is sticking with Lazio after having his resignation refused by club president Claudio
Lotito which means, start to the famed Italian managerial sack race is avoided if only temporarily.
Champions Milan will be looking to avoid a back to back loss results when they welcome visitors
Udinese.
So the new Serie A season is upon us once more. So far the typical clichés have proven to be
incorrect. The age old stereotype of Italian defences being impenetrable was shattered with 37
goals being scored in the opening weekend. Much focus was placed upon Gian Piero Gasperini's
favoured 3-4-3 system and how this would allow Internazionale to regain their Serie A crown, from
bitter city rivals.
Serie A Weekly welcomes guest writer Anthony Lopopolo to our pages with a view to the Saturday
showcase match between Internazionale and AS Roma at the San Siro in Milan. Left reeling from an
embarrassing week of losses in both Serie A and the Champions League, Inter will try to gather

The Serie A season is finally underway and with it comes the hopes, expectations, and dreams for
all clubs in Italy's top flight. Everything seems a little brighter with the promises of what can
happen but when everything falls apart after the first match, that light is much dimmer than
before. Preseason only garnered more questions than answers in regards to Inter manager Gian Piero
Gasperini's.
2010-11 Recap After the euphoria of the previous season's treble, the Nerazzurri had to settle for
just the Coppa Italia last term as their cross city rivals AC Milan were crowned kings of Italy.
Following in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho was never going to be easy but when President Massimo
Morratti appointed former Liverpool tactician Rafael Benitez to take over from the self titled.
Pre-season games often be no more than glorified fitness sessions, and with due respect, the
‘Supercoppa de Italia' could be that type of encounter, struggling to elevate itself beyond
‘kick about level' certainly for players accustomed to scudetti and Champions League endeavours.
But while the cachet of a Supercoppa triumph is debatable, an early opportunity for Milan to lay

Cliché's are, well, clichéd, and even that might be a cliché. They stand as the writing
equivalent of using training wheels, working well enough to "fall back on" and "get the job done"
but preventing any sort of creativity from shining through along the way. Football is full of such
terms, and the 24th Supercoppa Italiana helped to reinforce some of the most popular ones.

The Serie A season begins in a little over three weeks, yet the curtain raiser for Italy's top
flight takes place this Saturday. While Inter have been a constant in the Supercoppa over the
last six years, this year's matchup holds special significance. Not only is it once again being
held in Beijing's historic Bird's Nest Stadium, Inter's opponents are city rivals and last season's
Scudetto.

"Gasperini is the coach who put me in most difficulty. I would change but he would adapt, time and
again." Jose Mourinho Hastily made first impressions and endless weary comparisons. Everyone is
constantly guilty of them and as football fans and observers become more judgemental than ever
before, both are becoming increasingly more frequent.
