Giampaolo Pazzini celebrates his goal in Sampdoria's 4-1 win over Bologna just one week after
suffering a broken nose and being told he would be out for a month.
His protective mask fittingly describes him as "crazy."
Inspired by this form of injury-induced expression, Cristiano Ronaldo has already decided that
if he ever breaks his nose, his mask will read: "effeminate.

OK this is gross. The way Sampdoria striker Giampaolo Pazzini doesn't roll around in agony is
disconcerting as he clearly realises that if he does roll around his nose will fall off! Thanks to

Dirty Tackle 20 October @ 12:41 AM EST
Sampdoria striker Giampaolo Pazzini took a vicious elbow to the nose from Lazio goalkeeper
Fernando Muslera as he tried to punch the ball away during Sunday's match. Pazzini suffered a
"fracture of the nasal bones" and will be out for a month.
Malicious or did Muslera's elbow jut out toward Pazzini's face in some kind of reactionary
attempt to keep the flying striker from landing on him?

Sorry I didn't get up a weekend round-up yesterday, it was a really busy day. However I don't
want to disrupt the weekly order so I'll go straight to Goals of the Week. Last week was probably
the worst goals of the week post of all time. I think this week made up for it with some quality
strikes.

Antonio Cassano has reinvented himself. Not only has he changed his physical approach by losing
weight, he has changed his mental approach too, becoming not only more mature, but also a leader.
He is now someone who visits hospitals and gives signed shirts to sick children. He is now someone
who can carry a team on his back, provide assists for his teammates, and entertain the crowd.

Since there is a mid-week round this Wednesday, I'll get a super Weekend Round-up post up on
Thursday. If you look at the Serie A table right now, you'll see that leading the top of the table
is Sampdoria (tied with Juventus, but ahead of goals scored). Sampdoria have never won their first
4 games ever in their history.

The word of the day is...persistence.
Manchester City haven't given up in their pursuit of Everton defender Joleon
Lescott, despite there not being any indication from Everton that they want to let Lescott
go without a serious scrap.
While their persistence might not be paying off (yet, at least), it's paying off for Hull
City.

With the retirements of Luis Figo,Paolo Maldini,Pavel Nedved and the possible transfers of Kaka to
Real Madrid. It struck me how next year in the Serie A will be so fresh and new,but also very scary
in regards to what this means for the Serie A as a European power player. Add to this the rumors
that Carlo Ancelotti will also take with him Alexandre Pato and Andrea Pirlo and what comes of this
for the Serie A?

Marcello Lippi has released a squad for Italy's friendly against Northern Ireland, but the roster
is devoid of many of the big names you would expect in the Confederations Cup. That's because he's
decided to keep them fresh for the tournament in South Africa, and on Thursday elected to name two
teams.

Both sides went into this game knowing it would define their season. Both sides basically had
the exact situation. They both performed under expectations this season, and both have managers
that don't really look like they will be in charge next season. Also, because of their poor season,
both clubs were looking for a backdoor into Europe.

The a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAsckvv222g"early dismissal/a of Italy's Giampaolo
Pazzini in this week's World Cup qualifier against Ireland was another reminder that referees badly
need to develop some common sense in the matter of raised elbows. Cristiano's similarly absurd red
card in the A-League grand final leapt immediately to mind.

As far as entertainment goes, today's Sampdoria vs. Roma had all the ingredients required of a
soccer match: goals, cards (of various colours), and... oh yes, this is Serie A after all, reffing
mistakes. For a Sunday morning, it certainly beats waking up to watch Chelsea vs. Manchester City I
think.

The Champions League gets the pub and the UEFA Cup the scraps, but domestic cup competitions, often

February just isn't AC Milan's month. With the exception of a (valuable, but unconvincing) victory
obtained against Cagliari, the Rossoneri's performances since their 3-0 thumping of Lazio have been
punctuated by mediocrity. They tied to Reggina, lost the Derby della Madonnina to Inter, and got
eliminated from the UEFA Cup.

Before Sunday, one of the main reasons for Juventus to complain this season was their injury

one which is just another manifestation of that darned bad luck persecuting the team all year long.
That item is woodwork.
