We all have our ghosts. For Steve Zakuani, that ghost is memories of his former self.
As the Seattle Sounders midfielder continues his recovery from a horrific leg injury that cost
him the final six months of the 2011 season, the progress he has made is obvious. On Friday,
Zakuani was able to participate in full training for the first time since that April 22 tackle
broke his right leg.
Now that the ghost of Steve McClaren has been exorcised, and the transfer window is opening –
with our new financial straitjacket very apparent, a thought occurred to me [...] Read the original

Just when I had considered giving up on Father Christmas altogether, he fills my stocking with
dropped points by all of Chelski, l'Arse, Liverpool and even Man City. And – and - he
even un-twinges VDV's hamstring. I'm not sure there has ever been a Christmas quite like it.
No reason not to expect another high-class performance, missed chances a-plenty and ultimately
three more points tonight.
From The Archives: Jon Horner's "A Chelsea Christmas Carol"
Click images to make them larger. Yes, this was done by our brilliant Jon Horner last year.
Yes, it's still relevant (minus Carlo). Sometimes it's nice to reflect on the past year and see
what has changed and what hasn't (even if you're not a Chelsea fan).

It isn't so much the actual growing of the beard that's bothering us here.
I sighed a little reading about the dust-up stirred up among fans when Brad Friedel made some
remarks to the effect that Landon Donovan took "the easy road" by staying in Major League Soccer,
as compared to Clint Dempsey, who plays in England for Fulham.
Friedel backtracked a bit by going on to explain his comments were not meant to disparage Landon or
any other MLS player.
Carling Cup slapstick Manchester United debutant Ezekiel Fryers had a decent match against Crystal
Palace after coming on as a sub for Fabio. Alas, that will be overshadowed firstly by the fact that
Palace pulled off a big upset to beat United and secondly by the bizarre incidents in the video
above.
The U.S. men's national team is set to unveil a new jersey during the early parts of next year,
but images are already surfacing as to what it will look like.
According to multiple jersey-related websites, the next U.S. jersey will have red and white
horizontal stripes with a ghost sash going downwards from right to left (just as the current ones
have).
Ahead of tomorrow's friendly, OTP looks at some of the most memorable events in previous England v
Spain meetings. 1. Stuart Pearce's penalty (Euro 96) Spain found themselves on the receiving end as
Pyscho buried the ghost of his Italia 90 penalty miss. In the process he performed one of the most
iconic sporting celebrations [.
Sweet Cobi Jones' ghost the promos for the #LAvRSL match are sexier than a couple of MFers. Even
Bruce Arena looks like a badass. Can. Not. Wait.
Rafa Marquez was clearly attacked by Jedi Juninho. Or a ghost. Whichever. Click the pic.

Hole in the net There has been a few ghost goals in recent seasons and they usually occur from low
shots driven into the bottom corner, not looping headers. But Spanish outfit Alondras managed that
at the weekend. Fran Fandino headed the ball into the goal of opponents Pontevedra, but the ball
bounced underneath the [.
The erotic ghost Chile coach Claudio Borghi has compared watching Andres Iniesta play to 'an erotic
dream'. While most people would agree that Barcelona are the most enjoyable team to watch at the
moment, it sounds like Borghi gets more enjoyment than most. According to Goal.com: "Iniesta is
like an erotic dream.
Hello, good morning and welcome. The spectre of derby day looms. Wafting about the dinner table
like Banquo's ghost. And what better way to mark the occasion than with a talk with Spurs fan,
Guardian columnist and author of the fantastic Vertigo: One Fan's Fear of Success. John
Crace. And if that wasn't enough, well, then, you're just plain greedy.
Jurgen has some work to do.When the US Men's National Team took on Belgium, it was yet another
learning experience. The team was coming off a 1-0 loss against Costa Rica and was hoping to
improve on the performance. They did not. The Americans fell 1-0 to a remarkably powerful Belgium
side. Still, there were several things I noticed throughout this match and really over the past two
matches.
My dude Dunny with the long-awaited Javier Morales sit-down. Good to see him on the mend because,
real talk, RSL has been a ghost of itself since his injury. Hopefully we'll get to see him back in
time for a playoff run through the Wasatch Front.
Cardiff City Midfielder Peter Whittingham has backed young attacking midfielder Joe Mason to force
his way into the Bluebirds' starting XI after his stunning display against Bristol City.
Mason's mix of direct running and vision inspired the home side to a 3-1 win after coming off the
bench to replace the injured Aron Gunnarsson at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Who's Josh Gatt? Some U.S. U-20 kid from Michigan who plays in Norway and just balled out on this
goal for Molde. Watch the defender fall when he gets into the box; fool looks like he was pushed
down by a ghost. Needs to be a .gif.
One is a retired World footballer or the Year (2003), the other was a Hollywood actor adept as a
surfer, teacher, dancer and ghost...and it just so happens that the look alike! I came to this
conclusion after watching a Pavel Nedved compilation on YouTube. With Point Break fresh on my
mind and it just clicked.
The Premier League is introducing goal line technology from next season which will hopefully
resolve the issue of those hundreds of goals that cross the line every season but are never given.
And the hundreds of goals that don't but are given. It has already cost Arsenal three titles and
relegated West Ham.
I was reading this article featured in the Daily Mail yesterday and immediately thought "what a
load of bollocks!" (excuse my language). You expect to hear clubs having a moan about losing a big
name player as we hear it all the time, but to hear it about the manager is something else.
Let me start by quoting exactly what was said by the Porto President Pinto da Costa has said:
"Villas-Boas was living with Mourinho's ghost.

This past Saturday saw Independiente Rivadavia play host to Patronato in Argentina's second
tier, with the former eventually running out as comfortable 3-0 winners no thanks to the hapless
officials, who chalked off Independiente midfielder Gonzalo Bazan's spectacular long-range effort,
presumably as the ball clearly hadn't crossed the goal-line when it hit the back of the net.
The Sunday Sun is reporting today that it is their understanding that Newcastle have already given
up the ghost on trying to keep Jose Enrique at the club. Jose Enrique on his way in the summer
Newcastle's main priorities in the summer are said to be a striker, a left-back and a central
midfielder.
A feeling of nervousness hangs heavy in the air at Villa Park this afternoon. The four teams
below Aston Villa have already lost this weekend, but home supporters may already point to their
primary concern being that there are as few as four teams below them in the Premier League at this
point of the season in the first place.
Hot on the heels of ‘In Search of Alan Gilzean', comes another must read for any Spurs fan.
The Ghost of White Hart Lane
is written by Rob White, son of John and tells the story of his quest to learn about the father
that he never knew.
John White played his part in all the great triumphs of the early 1960's; the 60/61 double
season, the 1962 FA Cup and the 1963 European Cup Winners Cup, where he scored in our famous win
over Atletico Madrid.
And here we go again... Brazil's brand new kit was definitly not a lucky one.
Today, Brazil should have had better football, players and better morale yet every single time
we play France and that includes today, unfortunately the canarinha loses. Brazil has not
had a win facing the French since August 26th 1992 (2-0) and today was no different: a 1-0 loss to
Laurent Blanc's équipe goal from Benzema.
He's the friendliest ghost there is. In that he plays for Leeds, so even his amazing goalkeeping
skills can't prevent us from putting 3 past him. That save he made against Chamakh's header was
something else though.
What a match that was against Leeds. I know you saw it, so I won't go into all the gory details.
Needless to say it was a thrilling match with a lot of back-and-forth play, featuring some stunning
goals. Sagna blasted home a real cannon that the ghost of Schmeichel was unable to parry (check out
my previous post for a picture of Sagna on top of the world with a goblet of fire wine while the
Millenium Falcon flies overhead).
