Liverpool has reportedly made a sensational approach to former manager Rafa Benitez over a
potential return to the club.
As reported by the Mirror, Liverpool chiefs have sounded out the Spaniard, after being rejected by
Swansea City boss Brendan Rogers and former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola in their hunt for a new
boss.
The writing is definitely on the wall for Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish. With two successive
losses in their last two Premier League outings, the Reds, find themselves in 7th place with 42
points.
Uncertainty over Dalglish's future is already raising speculation on a possible replacement.
Sciott Heavey/Getty Images(Bleacher Report) The 2011-12 season started off with great belief and
great doubt all at the same time. The Rafael Benitez era had come to a close in a dismal fashion,
as the Reds slumped to a 7th place finish after having finished 2nd the season before.
Roy Hodgson, after leading a mid-table Fulham team to the UEFA Europa League final, was installed
as the new man at Anfield, but it was a signing that had no real fan belief behind him.
Liverpool FC has moved to allay fears the ownership structure of the club could lead to a repeat of
the deadlock which gripped the tenure of Tom Hicks and George Gillet.
A statement on the club's website reveals principal owner John Henry and club chairman Tom Werner
of New England Sports Ventures have 50% voting rights each.
The steely gaze of a winner...Well, I've decided that after this weekend's action I'll be focussing
on Liverpool a bit. Of course they'll be some coverage of the other leagues, but a little less than
usual.
And before I begin, just in case you haven't already seen these posts, you should because they're
getting insane amounts of views!
During the height of their protests against owners Tom Hicks and George Gillet, Liverpool
fans burned American flags as a intentionally provocative sign of their hatred. "Yanks Out" was a
consistent refrain, echoing across Merseyside as the two American billionaires took the club
further and further into debt.
Everton and Liverpool currently stand closer to relegation than an English Premier League
title, but the Merseyside Derby is always a can't-miss affair and never lacking for storylines.
The Liverpool-based rivals face off in this weekend's marquee match-up, with the clash coming
just as Liverpool celebrates having gotten rid of nightmare owners Tom Hicks and George Gillet.
Debt is a depressing term. Nobody likes the word, especially when the term is thrown about your
beloved football club. This week we've seen a farce of court cases, public outcries , passionate
scousers, and as far as I'm concerned, the take over of Twitter, that is the Liverpool FC situation
with the Royal Bank of Scotland and the current owners of the club, Tom Hicks & George Gillet.

The biggest hurdle toward the sale of Liverpool FC has been cleared after the High Court ruled
that current owners Tom Hicks and George Gillet do not have the authority to oust members of the
club's board of directors.
The ruling allows for the board to go through with the sale of the club, although it's not a
definite that New England Sports Ventures will be the buyer.
LIVERPOOL will avoid a nine-point penalty if they fall under bank ownership next month.
The Premier League will approve an Anfield takeover by the Royal Bank of Scotland if co-owners Tom
Hicks and George Gillet don't find a buyer or repay their debt by October 6. The RBS has had power
to seize the club before but there were concerns about league sanctions.

Liverpool's takeover bid is being undermined by interested parties with notional money. Those
with real money are not buying. And the China government backed Kenneth Huang is losing heart over
Liverpool's footdragging.
It's all fog and shadows so far as the board is taking time coming to an ownership decision.
Robbie Fowler is desperate to see Liverpool fall into the right hands as supporters, players and
back room staff waits for current owners George Gillet and Tom Hicks to formally put the Premier
League club up for sale.
The former Anfield favourite, who is currently plying his trade in Australia, is also sure that
star duo Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres will not seek a move away from the struggling Liverpool
despite reported interest from the likes of Manchester City, Inter Milan and Chelsea and with the
future of Rafael Benitez under a cloud.
Liverpool FC manager Rafa Benitez is on the verge of signing a pre-contract with Juventus according
to Italian daily Tuttosport, however a conclusion to the deal is being held up by Benitez's refusal
to resign and relinquish his large severance clause in his Anfield contract, estimated at £16
million.
Toronto FC threw out a make-shift lineup for its home opener at BMO Field on Thursday night, and
looked in danger of dropping points in front of a sell-out crowd, but one dumb red card and two
goalkeeping blunders opened the door for TFC to score its first win of the season.
Dwayne DeRosario scored two goals, including a second-half penalty, to give Toronto a 2-1 win
vs.
Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan feels Liverpool fans are being short-changed by their American
owners.
The Latics secured their first-ever Premier League win over the Reds on Monday thanks to Hugo
Rodallega's first-half goal.
Liverpool produced one of their worst performances in recent times at the DW Stadium, with numerous
passes going astray while Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland went untested throughout.
It will be impossible for many Liverpudlians to watch this afternoon's contest with Wolves without
casting a wistful glance towards the director's box.
While a battery of cameras will inevitably be trained on Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who is due
back in town after a first visit in September, a rather more discreet, reserved gentleman will be
the focus of attention for most.
Taylor.
Rafa Benitez has been given the go ahead to push for the signing of Aston Villa's Ashley Young,
according to the News of the World - which also claims that the Spaniard has been assured his
compatriot Xabi Alonso will not be joining Real Madrid.
Young has been linked with a number of clubs all summer, but now Benitez and Villa boss Martin
O'Neill could be set to wage war once again - as they did in the Gareth Barry saga last summer.
Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has hit back at David Moores' criticism of his ownership of the club,
insisting that they are in better shape than when he took over three years ago.
"I'm disappointed because I think we've done everything we can to improve the club in so many ways
over the past three years from the way it had been run before," the American told Sky Sports News.
On the 18th September, LFC will be announcing a new shirt sponsor to take over from Carlsberg next
season. George Gillet says it will be sponsor that fans will be pleased and surprised to be
associated with Liverpool...
There has been a bunch of strong rumours that it could possibly be a financial company, but I can't
think of any cool ones.
Colorado Rapids owner Stan Kroenke edged closer to a potential takeover of English power Arsenal
after buying another batch of shares.
Kroenke now owns about 29.6 percent of Arsenal's shares, just three percentage points below the
amount that would obligate him to launch a formal takeover bid.
