File this under "we've heard this before".
New York Red Bulls manager Hans Backe made a sweeping declaration yesterday to reporters while
in Mexico. He plans to go all-in this season.
"I say we should go for it all: the Open Cup, the Shield, the MLS Cup," Backe told reporters in
a conference call on Thursday from Mexico, where the Red Bulls are training.
The 2012 MLS SuperDraft has come and gone. With only two rounds this year, the draft flew by
like never before. There were no trades during the draft to make it interesting and overall, there
weren't too many surprises.
I figured I would give it almost a day before I came back with my draft grades.
So 10 to 20 years huh? Interesting. One has to hope that the academies can really do what we all
think they will and be the main source of talent for teams. It's working slow and steady we just
have to remain patient with it.

The 2012 Generation adidas class is a little more than half way there. Before Christmas we had
Darren Mattocks (Akron), Chandler Hoffman (UCLA), Andrew Wenger (Duke) and Sam Garza (UCSB) sign
their GA deals with the league. It appears one more can be added to that list in the form of UCLA
midfielder Kelyn Rowe.
Another top striker considering skipping MLS for the prizes in Europe? It sure seems that way.
According to Soccer By Ives, Akron sophomore Darren Mattocks is considering to pass on the proposed
Generation adidas deal that the league is offering him to go to Europe.
The Jamaican-born striker is said to be fielding offers from clubs in Sweden, Norway and
Denmark.
The on and off again story of former US International Lee Nguyen to Major League Soccer can
finally take a rest, he has signed with the league. The 25-year old midfielder declared this news
over the weekend via his Twitter feed.
Yep, you can spread the word. This upcoming season, I will be taking my talents to the MLS!
A little sneak peak if you will at the 2012 Seattle Sounders kits, likely road kits. This was
taken earlier by a photographer (@rodmarphoto) and then tweeted out to the world! Gotta love
Twitter. (h/t to Seattle beat writer @joshuamayers)
Light blue(ish) kits. So far, I think I like it. What say you?
We know the DC United stadium situation isn't getting any better anytime soon but at least
they're being blunt about trying to fix their current lease with RFK Stadium.
Next year will certainly be interesting in Major League Soccer. SBNation is reporting this
afternoon that the league intends on returning to an unbalanced schedule in 2012 with the addition
of Montreal as the league's 19th club.
Anyone paying attention to the current crop of season-ticket renewal requests that have been
sent out in recent weeks has probably noticed that teams are moving forward with the assumption
that they will play 17 home league games.
Saw this on the MLS Insider's twitter feed. David Beckham working at Target for Ellen DeGeneres.
Just...uh...yeah...go ahead and watch.
Week 26 is over and in the books. My weekly recap is up over at SBNation.com as I look into the
wild results, the big comebacks and more officiating fun. Enjoy.
Soony Saad signs with MLS.
Former Michigan standout and the 2010 NCAA leading scorer Soony Saad has signed a contract with
Major League Soccer this past weekend.
Saad will be made available in a weighted lottery on Tuesday. Four teams will not be
available for this lottery as they won previous lotteries this season.

This past week has not been the best for Sky Sports back in England, with the sacking of long
time expert Andy Gray, and the resignation of Richard Keys for off air comments made about female
assistant referee, Sian Massey, during last Saturday's Wolves versus Liverpool Premiership
match.
