Following their 1-0 win at San Juan Jabloteh on Sept 15th, the guys have been resting up,
practicing, and hopefully getting some tactical and finishing work in before their next game on
Thursday, against Marathon. I've been doing much of the same, save for the practicing or working on
my finishing.

In the sprinkling rain at RFK, DC United attacked the Galaxy goal, strung together passes in the
midfield, and played strong enough in the back to not concede. Unfortunately, United's finishing
and final third passing let them down, and the 22k in attendance had to settle for a goalless
draw.
This team has been nothing this season if not frustrating.

Like kissing your sister, as long as your sister isn't hot, or a good kisser.
The thing you'll hear most from any reports you're bound to read about this match is that Josh
Wicks did well, and RSL bunkered. Honestly, that's about all I could tell you about it, too. DC
started out bad, and finished bad.

No Wizards soccer this week so I decided to dip my toes in the editorial waters of general
soccer news.
So last week MLS President Don Garber was talking to the A.P. about how the downward economy has
affected sports. As an example he mentioned that in the new Yankee Stadium (the house the Ruth
didn't build and probably could not afford to watch a game in) there were empty seat.

Ah, the annual trip to the concrete jungle, the armpit of america, RFK North. With Red Bull Arena
under construction and supposed to open for the 2010 season, this could be the last time United
plays the metroscum/pink cows in the spectacularly horrid Giant Stadium.

This is a big game. I don't care that it's April. I don't care that we're not fully healthy. We
need three points, this weekend. That's it. End of story. Houston is not considered to be a
contender this year, with losing DeRo, and not many more additions. The team [...]

Ok folks, the games finally start counting for something. We'll start to see less of players like
Brandon Barklage, and more of the Jaime Moreno's of the world. And that makes me excited. This
Sunday, United travels to the Home Depot Center to visit one of the sadder cases in MLS in the last
[...]

Our season has come down to this: cheering for Chicago and New England. Makes you wonder what
you're doing with your life, doesn't it? Now, as I've stated before in posts and in comments, I'm
of two minds on what I'd prefer to occur this week. Do we, A) eek into the playoffs, lose [...]

Far be it for me to neglect you, readers, on the day before the classic NY-DC matchup up at the
stadium named after my NFL team. From what I can gather, DC is using this game as a chance to work
back in some players coming off of injury. On turf, I'd have [...]

Luciano's following Bobby's lead, and has made a website. One can only hope that he'll post
videos of himself every week, so I can get my fill of "Ahh Perkins" and "ITS IN DA NET!!" and "BOB
BOSWELL IS INTERNET". Priceless.
You know how I said I was going to write my recap of the Cup? I'm not going to.
Why? Because it's been done to death.

Check out Houston Offside's recap of the game. It's extensive and a good recap.
I was there, and had a great time. I have a funny story, which I will recount in full detail
tomorrow, but for now, check out this little video.
**This looked a lot better on my computer. Youtube compresses like whoa.

So LA and Dallas went out and predictably made me look like a moron, putting up good fights in
both games and generally looking like they care about SuperLiga. Now the team we're actually
interested is up, and The DCenters have this to say:
I know many fans won't care about the Superliga until it does become a big tournament (if it
ever does) but remember that DC United has always been about winning things first.

Nope, we're not using Goff's line to talk about the stadium (though, really, don't you suddenly
wish for the days when it was "Zzzzzzzzz" for the stadium instead of that noise that oddly
resembles a plane careening into a mountain?). Today we're using the 26th letter of the alphabet in
honor of the noise greeting the much-hyped start of the SuperLiga.

So I'm a bad blogger. But I am back from my long exile of exams, bad TV coverage, and getting
drunk in the parking lots of stadiums other than RFK. I'm not, however, back in the clear for
actually watching games, so the silence on that front will continue. I'll post recap roundups for
the time being and hope I can find a little Mexican restaurant around here that will feed me
Tecate, tacos, and SuperLiga games.
