Ok, with a match as dramatic as Utd vs Southampton yesterday, the most important thing in a review is to focus on the real key issues, the elements of the occasion that held the most influence. So it is impossible not to mention the presence of new signing Nick Powell on the bench. Could he possibly make his League debut?

Fulham stunned Old Trafford after just three minutes with Damian Duff shooting past De Gea, however seven minutes later the doom and gloom was lifted, as Robin Van Persie grabbed the equaliser with a superb volley.

Shinji Kagawa grabbed his home debut goal shorly after before Rafael added a third before the break but United's frailties in defence again showed as Fulham pulled one back through a Vidic own goal after De Gea flapped at a cross.

Three points! Just about…

Utd got their points campaign off-and-stumbling at Home against Fulham yesterday afternoon. While the three points were taken, there were two very different aspects to the victory which, while boasting an array of attacking talent, also featured a defence as nervous as a man who's just given the extremely valuable family teaset to Rob Green.

Utd kicked off the new season against Everton last night with a 1-0 loss and a disappointing away performance. We entered the game with a good record, 8 wins out of the last 12 against Everton, but that mattered little as both sides got their campaigns up and running. Well Everton did anyway.

Reactions To Victory Over Villa

1. After dropping points against Wigan and seeing City batter Norwich 6-1, it was so important we went out and got a result against Villa. A scrappy 1-0 would have done but it was pleasing to see us go out and batter Villa to swing the momentum in our favour again. The second half performance was one of the best we've seen from United in a while.

Looking back at the 8-2

All Four One, and One Four All! at related • 0 views

Sometimes when I'm bored, I look back at the 8-2. As a United fan, it remains my 'I want to watch some football' game, and in these days of so much lack of football that even van Persie is turning up for training at the club that he has already quit, it will do very well indeed. I do not watch it in any schadenfreude sort of way to point and laugh at Arsenal, those days are long gone now.
