The Scottish Sun reported yesterday that Newcastle would bid £5M for Celtic striker Gary Hooper in
January. Modibo Maiga number one target for Newcastle? In our article on the news last night, we
openly wondered how much truth there was in the report, since we know that Newcastle are still
keenly interested in Modibo [.
The Sun is not always accurate in their reporting, so this story should probably be taken with a
pinch of salt. Gary Hooper - can he do the job in the Premier League? The report is that Newcastle
United are lining up a £5M bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper, and that they will go [...]
Voices floating over Hadrian's Wall after Sunday's Old Firm derby sounded curiously, positive.
Curiously positive in the sense that, with so much about Scottish football being accompanied by the
sound of a death knell of late, hearing something good about two SPL clubs struck a more upbeat
note. Rangers and Celtic gave those in attendance at Ibrox, along with those watching abroad, a
fierce display of quality football for the majority of the ninety minutes, showcasing much of the
skill and drama that draws us to this game.

Celtic forward Gary Hooper has admitted that last year's shocking early elimination from both
the UEFA Champions League and Europa League qualification has left him seeking vengeance.
Hooper, who scored his first goal for the Hoops over the course of the 4-2 aggregate defeat to
Portuguese outfit Braga in the club's first Champions League qualifier, went on to see his
teammates lose out to Utrecht in a Europa League qualifier while sidelined with an injury.

Celtic had a rather comfortable 3-0 home win over rivals
Rangers in the SPL today with Gary Hooper grabbing a brace and Kris Commons making
his home debut finishing the rout.
These games are usually tight and feisty but today it was rather a stroll for the Celts, the win
puts them 8 points clear of Rangers at the top of the SPL, however Rangers have two games less
played than their rivals.
Was this the moment a rather unfortunate Gary Hooper became a convert for summer football?
Amusing as it is to see a professional football fall over his own feet, there must be sympathy for
all the players being asked to perform on pitches in the state Tannadice was in on Sunday.
Not criticising Dundee United, lots of pitches are in a terrible state and the weather has been
following an unsettling pattern of crap through shocking to bloody awful.

A guest blog from Zoe Broome exploring the reasons and emotions that might be involved in making a
decision about which country to play for.
A tricky one this, with the eligibility rules never quite fully satisfying.

Time to ask for forgiveness? Apologise for being a doubter? Time to all hail, hail Neil Lennon?
Back in December I predicted that Lennon's reign as Celtic manager was facing a January of intense
scrutiny, a month that could shape the destiny of his managerial career:
"I wrote after the Old Firm game that Lennon was displaying a worrying habit of losing big games as
manager.

Former Hibs striker Anthony Stokes came back to haunt his old team with a brace
which include a spot-kick and a wonderful half volley to keep Celtic in the SPL Title race.
Gary Hooper got Celtic off to the perfect start scoring two minutes before
half-time before Stokes sealed the points with his brace.
