Jeremie Aliadiere's injury nightmare on Teesside is set to continue after the midfielder/striker
was ruled out for six weeks yesterday with a broken toe. The 26-year-old had just returned from the
treatment table having been out of action for several weeks but now it seems that the Frenchman may
face being sidelined for the rest of the season.

Firstly, I apologise for my long absence from BoroMania.com.
The last time I wrote for this website was in the aftermath of Gareth Southgate's sacking. That
was four months ago - plenty of time for Southgate's successor Gordon Strachan to have imprinted
his mark upon the Middlesbrough squad.

Jeremie Aliadiere's return to the first-team has given Gordon Strachan extra options in the
final third of the pitch as he hopes to strengthen our resolve in the goal scoring department which
has blighted our progression this season in the Championship.
Once again the Frenchman has been hit with injuries this season which have plagued his Boro
career since joining us in 2007.

Adam Johnson has completed his move to Manchester City today for an undisclosed fee as Boro were
one of the busier teams on transfer deadline day. Johnson picks up the number 11 shirt, vacated by
Robinho, and will once again attempt to cement himself in a Premier League first eleven.
Johnson has been in great goalscoring form for Boro this season, but criticism over his
performances at the Riverside stadium have led to doubts over whether he is ready to play at a
higher level.

Manchester City are desperate to add a left-sided winger to their ever increasing squad after
they were tormented by Ryan Giggs last night in their League Cup Semi-Final defeat to Manchester
United.
Roberto Mancini will try and lure Johnson to the City of Manchester Stadium to ease the
disappointment of last night's cup exit, but the big question is: Will AJ move to Manchester City
to sit on the bench?

As the midterm in Championship is coming closer, the clubs that failed to live up to the
expectations can see their owners and presidents swarming in their chairs. Some sacks
occurred unexpectedly early (Darren Ferguson in Peterborough and Gareth Southgate in
Middlesbrough) and these days some other managers had to pack their bags too.

The question above brings me to Ives' news today that the Red Bulls' coaching hunt includes two
foreign names with no MLS connections - former Norway coach Age Hareide and former Portsmouth coach

Let's start with Hareide because no one here, including me, has ever heard of him before.

Let's take a moment to talk about the penalties, shall we? There's always gotta be someone. The

It was with some sadness I heard that Gareth Southgate had been sacked yesterday. I always felt
he had the making of a decent manager. I suppose in these days of quick fix changes and changing
managers when a few results go wrong, none of us should be surprised.
OK, Boro were relegated last season but I felt he was working with his hands tied a little.

Joe Bennett was recently held back from going to the Under-20 World Cup with England by Gareth
Southgate, a clear indication that he is in and around the first team squad and could find himself

A couple tidbits for the Holiday weekend:It looked as if Middlesbrough - near the beginning of the transfer window - was going to hold on to
its most prized assets as they prepared for life once again in the Championship. The last two weeks
have been an eye-opener, however, with Sanli Tuncay and Robert Huth heading back to the EPL with
Stoke City, Stewart Downing finally getting his move away from the club to Aston Villa, and Afonso
Alves, ultimately a huge bust after a high-profile move from Heerenveen, to Qatar for a payday with
Al-Sadd.

After the second successive week, that elusive Egyptian Mido has still not turned up for training

Gareth Southgate was understood to have expected his Egyptian striker back today after his no-show

Apparently, the loss of two weeks wages, which he was fined, means little to Mido who like Afonso
Alves, neglected to turn up last week and was given a telling off by Southgate over the phone last
week.
