Apologies about the lack of posting recently. I've slipped into an euphoria-induced coma at the
sight of Tom Huddlestone and Peter Crouch both coming on for England in Doha on Saturday. The
prognosis? I'll be okay in the long run but Jermaine Jenas definitely won't go to the World
Cup.
I promise normal service will be resumed shortly, once the deluge of Uni work is eased a little
bit.

Right then, the good news is that Harry has spoken openly about us being light in the midfield
department.
"I am happy with the squad. The only area we are short of a body is central midfield", said Harry,
in preparation for the January sales.
Thank the lord! The only hurdle that I can see us falling on is that teams rarely give away their
best players in winter transfer window.

I don't understand a word of it either. What I do know is that whilst 'The Emperor' looked sharp
tonight in a hold-up role. However he had plenty of chances to place his name on the scoresheet
that went wanting.

Alex McLeish is lining up a move for Tottenham defender Gareth Bale when the transfer
window opens in January.
Birmingham manager McLeish will have around £40million at his disposal following Carson Yeung's
takeover and, according to the Daily Mirror, will spend £3m on the Spurs left-back.

"And just when I was starting to blame my hair!"
It took 25 games over more than two years, but Gareth Bale was finally a part of his first
Premier League win with Spurs as the club beat Burnley 5-0 on Saturday.
The match was already well in hand when Bale was brought on in the 86th minute with the goal of
ending his dubious and undeserved Premier League record streak.

Safe to say that out of our squad of assorted rapscallions and roustabouts; Gareth and Heurelho

Bad news for Tottenham fans - Gareth Bale has returned to action in a closed doors friendly
between QPR and Spurs. The defender completed 90 minutes of action as Tottenham ran out 3-2 winners
over the Championship club.
While Bale is a highly rated left back in the Premier League, his return comes as a catch-22 for
Spurs fans due to the infamous Gareth Bale curse.

We waited with bated breath, following weeks of anticipation, even though the outcome was almost
inevitable. Despite rumours of several incoming loans and transfers, today's 5pm transfer deadline
passed with only one addition to the squad and undoubtedly the biggest positive most fans took from
today was that it appears that we managed to keep [.

Apparently Gary Megson wants to take Kevin Nolan back to Bolton, or at least that's what The Mirror
is saying. We paid Bolton £4m for the midfielder in January and his £40k/week wages might be seen
as reason enough to let him go in the current phase of cost-cutting at the Toon. I wasn't
particularly impressed [.

Once again, I give to you my fantasy football guidelines in handy list form. This is the latest
variation on something I first wrote down in 2004. They have served me well over the years, and I
hope you find them useful in choosing your teams this season.
1. Punch above your weightYou generally want to pick anyone playing in a more advanced role than they are designated by the
fantasy game - defenders playing in midfield and midfielders lining up as forwards.

This coming season promises to be the most exciting in years. Of course, every coming season
promises to be the most exciting in years. This is one of the many truisms of English Football.
Last season we gaped open mouthed as Manchester City clumsily wooed Global Franchise Entities with
the promise of dreams and Ferrero Rocher.

Looks like it's happening for Spurs and Bassong. Here are a few quick thoughts.
1) Nice move for Spurs as they need a young, healthy, high quality centre back with upside.
2) You have to wonder why Arsenal wasn't interested at this price - throwing an additional £16M
for Bassong and Chamakh seems like a reasonable use of their K2 & Toure money.

Stewart Downing is set to move to Villa for 12million. Lets face it, it was going to be them or
Spurs, well he always goes there on Football Manager anyway.
Bit risky on O'Neill's part though as the lad is injured until October, you would think he would
hold fire and see him return to fitness (at Boro's expense) and poach him in January.

Soccer Pie 24 June @ 08:13 AM EST
Tottenham fans must be thinking that their team is cursed since the club management, or should
we say Daniel Levy, has spent a tremendous amount of money on new players in the
last few years but they are still far away from breaking into the top four. The biggest flaw in
this "master plan" was that the club did not have the patience to stick to the players they'd got
and gradually reinforce the squad, but they kept buying and selling players like
their lives depended on that.

In ‘normal' life, when a company gets taken over you expect there to be some changes at the top.
Irrespective of how good the people were or whether they were doing their job well, most of the
times the feeling is that they have to go in order to make a break from the past and show that
things are about to change.

This is not the worst team in the Premier League. It is the least valuable. This team would
incite the masses with talent, with name recognition and with expense. They would then fail
pathetically. This team could be composed entirely of Newcastle players, but we thought we'd
include a few others to keep things interesting.

I think we can all agree that Gareth Bale is not a bad player. In fact, at 19 years of age, he
is surely one of the most promising - if not the most promising - left backs in
the Premier League and in the world. Likewise, I think we can all agree that Tottenham win their
fair share of games.

So why not start using him? Gareth Bale can launch a throw in the same manner as Rory Delap and I
think we should utilise this part of his game more. I'm not saying we make it a staple part of our
play like Stoke but there would be no harm mixing it up a bit with a few 'Bale Bombs'.
Yesterday's defeat at the hands of Everton was unlucky but we have had our fair share of luck since
Harry took over so I'm not going to let it get me down.

When you're watching the Premier League, which footballer do you identify with the most? In life,
are you a hard-nosed John Terry, a metrosexual David Bentley, a wear-your-heart-on-your-sleeve

with Kenny Dalglish when he played at Liverpool.
