Wondo, your MVP frontrunner at the turn. Game of the Week San Jose 4, LA Galaxy 3 There have been
moments in the brief flash of light that has been MLS' existence that the league makes you stop for
a moment and marvel. Goals, transfers and individual bits of skill often fill this void, though
these moments of tempestuous brilliance are often kept at a reasonably low rate of return so as
The Grinder is in a break-it-down kind of mood this fine day. So no game of the week, especially
considering two games (Seattle-Portland, DC-New York) pulled in even on the Parch-o-meter. Instead,
we map out the MLS firmament by constellation, going one by one through our winners, losers and The
Lost.
Bas Rutten: "Knee to da groin" Game of the Week DC United 4, New York 1 In the Barra Brava, the
atmosphere rained down richly, chants and middle fingers and lager-infused songs spilling down
harder and faster than the rain pelting and deadening the RFK playing surface. But on the field,
there was little evidence of this being the most heated, longest-running rivalry in the league —
the
Game of the Week Montreal 1, Chicago 1 It was a touching scene, really, for anybody who'd been
invested in the Montreal Impact in any way since their rise from the snow and ice in 1992. It was
more than touching for those in attendance. It was destiny manifest. Don Garber, a broad grin
splashed across his face with the echoes of the native French-speaking PA announcer still bouncing
off the
...Charlie Davies has been here for months. Unfortunately, Chris Pontius likely will not be. Game
of the Week DC United 3, Chivas USA 0 Please excuse me if my commentary is more biting tonight than
usual. Watching the Dallas Cowboys choke away wins has become a rite of fall in the Parchman
household, but it never makes them any easier to digest.
Today's game of the week was a toss-up. In Kansas City, second-place Eastern party crashers SKC and
third-place Western power FC Dallas squared off in a breathless match that threatened to derail
first-place bids for both. In Seattle, second-place Western contender Seattle duked it out with
Eastern-leading Columbus in a match that saw more than one history marker snapped like a brittle
twig.
Game of the Week LA Galaxy 2, San Jose 0 Forget for a moment that this was the California Clasico.
It was easy enough in the moment, anyway. Certainly by the 21st minute on Saturday night, the
subtext had become the 31-year-old Irishman who'd flashed into MLS in the thick of the night. And
then this happened and we all rethought how dominant we'd imagined the Galaxy to be.
No game of the week today. In the interest of keeping things fresh, I bring you The Big Story. The
much heralded and somewhat triumphant return of Freddy Adu. Resembling a conquered and humbled
warrior returning home with head bowed and shield in hand, the next year or two will be the most
important period in Adu's lengthening career.
Game of the Week LA Galaxy 3, FC Dallas 1 Juuust when you thought those finger cracks in LA's
foundation were starting to spider, Arena's boys bust out the spackle and shore this thing up with
a beaut of a win over surging FCD at Home Depot Center. These teams aren't traditional rivals, but
they've played some classy affairs over the last few years to grow this game into something bigger
than
You wanna sit in that sun? Be my guest. Game of the Week FC Dallas 1, Chivas USA 0 There were
certainly other options this week, a few other games equally worthy of this space. But I was at
Pizza Hut Park on Sunday night to take this one in, so it gets the nod this week. That's my fine
work over there.
Eric Brunner knows kung-fu. Dude's got a red belt. Game of the Week Seattle 3, Portland 2 What. A.
Game. I'm glad the USWMNT's thriller Sunday morning went the way it did, because who knows if I'd
have been willing to put in two hours to watch this beast in a disheveled mindset. As it was, I was
so amped after Wambach & Co.
Before we get started today, just want to remind everyone I'll be making the trek down to Houston
on Wednesday to cover the US's Gold Cup semifinal against Panama (and peep some of the Mexico match
as well), so keep it locked to NSC this week for some exclusive content. Now. "Gotcha!" Our lead
story could easily go in Worst of the Worst, but I've decided to forgo a game of the week tonight
b.
The Gold Cup is underway, much to the chagrin of Bruce Arena's Donovan-less Galaxy and the
Wondo-less Quakes, who inexplicably aren't feeling the sting, as we'll get into later. And as soon
as I start extolling the virtues of the league's ability to create goals, we have a weekend when
only five teams score more than once.
It always kinda freaks people a little when I tell them that, yes, some European countries actually
broadcast and follow MLS matches. I can't say for sure who all shows the games at a given moment in
time, but at last check there were "MLS Game of the Week" telecasts in places like England,
Portugal and Spain.
Dallas 1-1 Salt Lake In their first game of the week Real Salt Lake overcame a lackluster first
half, that saw them trailing to FC Dallas after a Break Shea PK, and the suspensions of Jamison
Olave and Fabian Espindola to earn a draw away from Rio Tinto. After earning the first chance of
the [...]
Merry Christmas. Happy Boxing Day. Here are your gameweek 18 picks... I. Blackburn @ Liverpool: I
select this game as the 'game of the week,' not for it's on-the-field potential, but for the media
circus surrounding it off the pitch. ... Continue reading →
I. Chelsea @ Manchester United: It's obviously the game of the week and Andre Villas-Boas' first
big test as manager of Chelsea. The last few encounters have been tight, but all signs point to
this Old Trafford encounter producing some ... Continue reading →
VCU will take on HPU Friday, October 28th for the Fox Soccer Channel NSCAA College Soccer Game of
the Week.
Be sure to tune in and support VCU on live television!
The final USL Pro playoff berth wasn't decided until the final whistle of last Friday's USL Pro
Game of the Week on FOX Soccer. Here are the highlights of the Charleston Battery's 4-3 win over
the Charlotte Eagles, one that included a two-goal, Player of the Week performance by the Battery's
Mike Zaher:
The playoffs begin Friday, with Rochester hosting Pittsburgh, Wilmington hosting Richmond and
Los Angeles traveling to Harrisburg.
Here are highlights of last Friday night's USL Pro Game of the Week, in which the Wilmington
Hammerheads defeated the Los Angeles Blues 2-1 in front of a Legion Stadium record crowd of nearly
6,000.
Our final regular-season telecast, this Friday at Charleston, could determine the eighth and
final playoff spot for 2011.
The UW-Milwaukee and Marquette women's soccer programs will get some prime-time exposure next
month.
The annual match between the rival Panthers and Golden Eagles at UW-Milwaukee's Engelmann
Stadium was moved up a day to Thursday, Sept. 8 and will be televised live on Fox Soccer as part of
the seventh annual National Soccer Coaches Association of America Game of the Week series.
We were in New York City for the holiday weekend and the USL PRO Game of the Week between
Antigua Barracuda FC and FC New York. Highlights:
Hard to believe we are a third of the way through the TV schedule and only 60 days away from the
championship match on September 3. This week we're in Richmond, Virginia as two of the
longest-running USL teams, Charlotte and Richmond (both established in 1993) meet at City
Stadium.
A few days late (I was on vacation, sue me), but here are the highlights from last week's USL
Pro Game of the Week between the Wilmington Hammerheads and Charleston Battery on FOX Soccer.
This week (tomorrow night, actually) we're in New York as FC New York hosts Antigua Barracuda
FC.
Here are highlights from our second USL Pro Game of the Week broadcast on Fox Soccer over the
weekend. We had a great atmosphere and pretty exciting game in Orlando between City and the
Wilmington Hammerheads.
This week we travel to Wilmington, North Carolina as the Hammerheads take on the Charleston
Battery.
Here are highlights of the first USL Pro Game of the Week broadcast from this past weekend.
Rochester beat Harrisburg 1-0 to take over first place in the National Division.

For the first broadcast out of the box, it was fine. We still have some things to work on, as
you might expect.
Actually, it was a bit more dramatic than that, as Rochester Rhinos' goalkeeper Neal
Kitson scored this stoppage-time equalizer last Sunday evening to give the Rhinos a 2-2
draw with Antigua Barracuda FC in a USL Pro match.
It's unlikely Kitson will get on the scoresheet again anytime soon (he's the first Rochester
'keeper ever to score), but he'll be trying to keep the Harrisburg City Islanders off the score
sheet when the two teams meet this Saturday at 5:30pm ET on the first telecast of the USL Pro Game
of the Week on Fox Soccer.

We have decided to do some detailed game analysis during the college season this fall. We will

Dickinson and Clear Creek were the top two teams in District 24-6A a year ago, with the Gators beating the Wildcats 42-20 to win the league championship.
Many early projections have the two in the same place, meaning their district game Oct. 30 should be one for first place. One of the most recognizable segments for Texas high school thinks so Clear Creek at Dickinson was announced Monday as part of the DQ Big Game of the Week.
Week 15 saw Benfica maintain their two point lead over Porto as the season hit the midway point.
Benfica earned a convincing 4-1 win over Setubal while Porto stayed pace with a 2-0 win over Rio
Ave. In what amounted to the game of the week, Braga defeated Sporting 2-1 to move into sole spot
of third place in the Portuguese league as Sporting drop to fourth.
Shaun Botterill/Getty Images(Bleacher Report)The first week is now in the books following
Manchester City's bashing of Swansea City. The Citizens ended the week on a high note as it was a
clean game with no cards handed out making it perhaps the friendliest game of the week.
However, other matches around the league saw tempers flair, and some of the usual suspects right in
the thick of things as the red cards have already started to pile up.
The Rochester Rhinos clinched a playoff berth for the 16th consecutive year by beating the
Pittsburgh Riverhounds on the USL PRO Game of the Week last Friday night. Here are the
highlights:
After seven games in seven weeks, I have a break this weekend and will get back after it for the
stretch run and the playoffs starting August 5 in Wilmington.
