STORY OF THE DAY
Jimmy Golen of the Associated Press reports that Taylor Twellman told a conference on brain trauma
and concussions that the New England Revolution doctors missed treated him, and even sent him back
into a game even after he said he had a concussion.
With MOST of the final weekend of the 2011 MLS regular season being played today, we will have a
very clear picture of what the playoff match-ups will be for the playoffs once tonight's matches
are finished. With that in mind, we will be listing the match-ups and tonight's results so you can
have an updated look at what the playoffs look like.
Below are the updated table and collated results for Group A of the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions

Everything broke right for the Dynamo over the weekend and after some stress and worry, Houston
is in the 2011 MLS Cup Playoffs! The only thing we don't know is whether they can avoid the wild
card round. Events later this week will decide that.
If the Dynamo want to avoid playing a wild card match, they need to defeat the Galaxy at home on
Sunday and they need some help.
Long-time South Bay resident and former Galaxy Coach Sigi Schmid is taking aim at the Galaxy,
despite the slim chance the Seattle Sounders have of catching the MLS leaders in the race for the
Supporters' Shield reports Associated Press Sports Writer Tim Booth:
SEATTLE (AP) -- After raising their third straight U.
The New York Red Bulls defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-0 to claim their third win in five
matches and take a massive step towards the MLS playoffs.
League-leading Galaxy traveled to the Red Bulls Arena without the services of playmaker Landon
Donovan for tonight's crucial match and their lack of creativity without the U.

Would it help if we said that we really want to make an MLS results round-up a regular
part of our website?
The Dynamo got a point against the Fire and while they remain in the playoffs, the Portland
Timbers are hot on their tails. Here's what happened this weekend and how it changed the playoff
picture. No new teams clinched a playoff spot, but Toronto and New England were eliminated from
playoff contention.

"They play a different game - quickness - not the same style of physicality (you see in
MLS)," said Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena. "It was an important experience for us."
Mike Magee agreed with that assessment:
They're more technical than most MLS teams ," he said.
Amazing subplots were cast over MLS action this past weekend. Robbie Keane scored in his debut for
the Galaxy while newly transferred Juan Pablo Angel did the same for Chivas USA. Coming of
brilliant Champion's League success FC Dallas took on Seattle. New York and New England fans were
treated to more of the same from their respective teams and Portland fans found reason to cheer.
Game of the Week LA Galaxy 2, San Jose 0 Forget for a moment that this was the California Clasico.
It was easy enough in the moment, anyway. Certainly by the 21st minute on Saturday night, the
subtext had become the 31-year-old Irishman who'd flashed into MLS in the thick of the night. And
then this happened and we all rethought how dominant we'd imagined the Galaxy to be.

after a game in which his team was thoroughly outplayed.
Said Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena, underlining his team's complete domination:

Orlando City F.C. scored a 93rd minute equalizer in its U.S. Open Cup match against FC Dallas,
but that wasn't the last goal scored in regulation.
FC Dallas defeated Orlando City, 3-2, in a Round of 16 match on Tuesday night courtesy of a 94th

Alan Gordon was stellar for Toronto.Even with the Gold Cup in full swing, MLS rolls on. The teams
are depleted but that hasn't stopped some from stepping up. Players like Steven Lenhart are on fire
and staple stars like Henry and Beckham remain impressive. Taking a look back at MLS's most
exciting matches from the weekend, here's your hope for soccer after the USMNT's failure against
Panama.

with a massive 2083 points, with James Dutra second with 2047 and
our very own Bryan Byrne in third with 2023 points.
A big thank you to everyone who entered our Fantasy League and hope to see you all again next
year for the new season, hopefully by then we get the following needed to add a prize or two to
the competition next season to make it even more interesting.

Not a bad week, if I do say so myself.
Best-SuperClasico-photo-ever: Damn, I miss Jesse Marsch.
Take a stroll down SuperClasico memory lane with a look back at these games between Chivas USA

Another week, another round of Major League Soccer fixture. Week eight presented more draws than
definitive results, but there was plenty of excitement on offer. Here's how I predicted the
schedule would play out:
(Actual results in brackets. Red for incorrect result, blue for correct result, green for exact
scoreline)
DC United 1-1 Seattle Sounders (2-1)
Houston Dynamo 1-2 Colorado Rapids (1-2)
Portland Timbers 1-1 Philadelphia Union (1-0)
Real Salt Lake 2-0 Chivas USA (1-0)
Toronto FC 0-2 Houston Dynamo (2-1)
DC United 3-1 FC Dallas (0-0)
Columbus Crew 2-0 Seattle Sounders (1-1)
New England Revolution 0-2 Colorado Rapids (0-0)
Chicago Fire 2-1 Vancouver Whitecaps (0-0)
LA Galaxy 2-0 New York Red Bulls (1-1)
As you can see, another poor effort.
A combination of crippling man flu and a short vacation starting tomorrow (not a good mix in
itself) means I'm bringing you a streamlined edition of The Fixture List this week. Below
are my predictions for this week's games, as always, but first I'll reflect on my guesses last
week.
Correct results in brackets.
Everyone expecting the Philadelphia Union to revert back to the mean is in for a rude awakening.
Just ask the New York Red Bulls.
In its second season as a franchise, the Union has the look of a winner after gutting out a home
result against New York, maintaining its spot atop the Eastern Conference standings and climbing
into the top three of the SBI MLS Power Rankings.
