Just a week or so ago I wrote on here claiming we needed to be more patient with Nani, following
a string of frustrating games with the odd flash of something good. We've spent a lot of money on
the lad and he should be given a fair run in the team before he's out on his arse.
But unfortunately for Nani, he couldn't just be patient and see what the manager's plans were
for him.

Gabriel Obertan joined
Man United during the summer. Immediately after he signed, it
was announced that he had picked up an injury. Obertan has recently made his first team debut but
he has been really impressive whilst playing for United's reserves.
The 20-year old made his debut for the first team during United's 2-0 win over Barnsley in the
Carling Cup.

When Nani arrived to Manchester United for the fee thought to be around
£15 million he was only 20 years old and looked like the player that in couple of
year's time could become a key member of Sir Alex Ferguson's team. He has shown some
glimpses of quality during his first two seasons at Old Trafford but the problem is that
instead of getting better by the day, the Portuguese winger's performances kept deteriorating and
in my opinion it's high time he was shown the door.

Manchester United fans revised the Nicky Butt chant for Rodrigo Possebon as he started to shine
in League Cup performances last season.
The same has been done for Gabriel Obertan, particularly during his impressive display against
Barnsley, which has made him feel very welcome.
"I'm very proud of that," he told MUTV.

Manchester United new boy Gabriel Obertan only came on for the final eight minutes of United's
3-3 come from behind draw with CSKA Moscow on Tuesday, but he still managed to get in an off the
ball cheap shot on Deividas Semberas, earning himself a yellow card.
Looks like he's already been hanging around Paul Scholes too much.

As a Manchester United fan Saturday's 2-0 win over Blackburn represented much more than just
three points. Not only did Dimitar Berbatov score yet another sensational goal, but young French
winger Gabriel Obertan made his Premier League debut. Obertan impressed midweek in the Carling Cup
against Barnsley, but seeing him against Premiership opposition just meant that much more.

Saturday's snoozy session between Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers turned Old Trafford
into a literal Theatre of Dreams. Even the linesman sailed off to the Land of Nod, for what other
excuse could there be for deeming Rovers sub Nikola Kalinic offside when he banged in Edwin Van der
Sar's deflection off a Benni McCarthy strike for a goal?

Gabriel Obertan has made a bright start to his Manchester United career, putting in a good
performance against Barnsley in the week and impressing during his half hour run against Blackburn
yesterday.
With ten minutes left to play and the game still at 1-0, Obertan had the opportunity to make it
a dream start when Valencia presented him with a chance to score from five yards out.

By the time the final whistle blew today I was wondering when United were going to get started.
That's the measure of Champions isn't it, being able to win when still in first gear? Well that's
all fine and well but with Chelsea and Arsenal building up their goal differences each week, we
could do with battering the teams we totally outplay.

After the effective, if not inspiring, performance of the second string in the Carling Cup
earlier in the week, normal service resumes this weekend as United face Blackburn in the Premier
League.
Rovers enjoyed a relatively safe passage into the quarter finals of that competition that none
of the big guns tend to take very seriously the League Cup themselves on Tuesday night although
Saturday should prove a much tougher hurdle for Sam Allardyce and his swine flu-hit charges to
negotiate.

United's Carling Cup win over Barnsley was encouraging in the fact the ‘squad' players came in
and gave a decent account of themselves. Michael Owen's goal was vintage Owen, he showed neat
skills and a cool composure to send the ball into the net but, with all due respect to Barnsley, he
should have registered a goal against the opposition.

In light of the fact that United had a Carling Cup tie last night, which was won comfortably
enough, but was overshadowed by a good ol' college-style food-fight, BigFourZa shall not review the
match in protest, to express our solidarity with the 1 Billion people in the world who go hungry
every day (seriously).

You can imagine the disappointment of United fans after the derby defeat to Liverpool but I am
pretty sure the Carling Cup game against Barnsley put a smile on their faces.
First team players Owen, Obertan, Evans and Brown proved they've got plenty to offer in team's
quest for trophies, but it is the youngsters that impressed me the most.

Though it was against lower opposition, you have to be impressed by Gabriel Obertan's
performance yesterday at Oakwell. He has pace, a lot of it, and you could not question his other
areas of his game such as his dribbling or his passing ability.
It was very impressive considering that he just come back from a long lay-off in the
sidelines.

Man United are through to the final eight and one step closer retaining the

Manchester United's controversial summer signing Gabriel Obertan is set to make his first start

Bordeaux and has impressed during his appearances in the United reserves.

You're only as good as your last game and following eleven without defeat, Sunday proved
something of a wake-up call. United certainly need to up the ante and fortunately they won't have
to wait very long to attempt to put things right. A little over 50 hours to be precise as a trip to
Barnsley in the Carling Cup will hopefully lift spirits, if ever so slightly, following the
depressing result at Anfield.

Defeats to Liverpool makes me sick. But looking forward to exciting young talents making their
first team debuts helps lift the gloom. The official site reports Gabriel Obertan is expected to
start on the left wing against Barnsley tomorrow.

United have got off to a good start to the season. We have suffered one defeat to Burnley and a
draw to Sunderland, other than that we have won every single game we have played in all
competitions. With a win tonight, United could be all but qualified for the next round of the
Champions League.

This morning I have already seen three stories on
Luis Nani's Man United career. The
22-year old made (according to wikipedia) only four appearances so far this season, but he has
scored two goals.
After being left on the bench again against Bolton yesterday, The News Of The World believe that
Nani could be on his way out of Old Trafford this January, being replaced by
Valencia's David
Silva.

Yes it's only a run out for the reserves but Gabriel Obertan looked like he was well up for it
and pulled off some nice tricks and perhaps more importantly some good intelligent dangerous
passes. The French Under 21 international looks like he could well prove to be an good signing and
a bargain buy that no one saw coming.

Man United winger
Gabriel Obertan and defender
Rafael da Silva
finally recovered from injuries and played for
United's reserves. Obertan made his debut for

Rafael has been out with a shoulder injury for what seems like ages but both players got through

An audacious bit of skill? A moment of magic? Obertan did not execute flashy step-overs or fancy
tricks in Manchester Senior Cup against Oldham. It was a seemingly simple feint that threw the
defence off balance. The former France Under-21 star signed from Bordeaux in the summer by Alex
Ferguson is simply amazing.

United travel to White Hart Lane on Saturday in a top of the table Premier League clash. Spurs
have won their first four games in a row but United can bring them crashing back to reality if they
