The inaugural UK Football Academy (UKFA) symposium at Emirates Stadium on February 8th has been renamed The Gary Speed Football Congress by UKFA founder, Raymond Verheijen as a tribute to the manager alongside whom he worked last year to elevate the Wales football team to new heights.

As a player and a manager, Gary Speed was a model professional who embraced a forward-thinking approach and modern methods.

The devoted Red from Kirkby died earlier this year at the age of 56 following a long battle with illness.
‘Gilly' won the Echo's Fan of the Year award in 2007 and followed Liverpool home and away for 40 years.

The makers of "Rise and Shine: The Jay DeMerit Story" released a new trailer this week as they continue to seek donations to help them complete the documentary about the Green Bay native's rise to the top levels of world soccer.

The group has received more than $61,000 in pledges from nearly 450 people through their KickStarter fundraising site, according to an update sent Thursday afternoon.
