Liverpool FC supporters union Spirit of Shankly has released a statement calling for American
owners Fenway Sports Group to increase their presence on Merseyside and appoint a Liverpool-based
chief executive.
The club face playing half the season with only two senior strikers after failing to replace
loaned-out Andy Carroll before the end of the transfer window and principal owner John Henry
yesterday wrote an open letter to supporters explaining the club's transfer policy and admitting to
'mistakes' made in the owners' first 23 months in charge.
Nuri Sahin has refused to rule out the prospect of completing a permanent switch to Liverpool if
his loan deal proves to be a success.
The Turkey international has linked up with the Reds on a season-long agreement from Real
Madrid.
Arsenal were also believed to be keen on acquiring his services, but Sahin will spend the 2012/13
campaign at Anfield after being convinced to head for Merseyside by Real colleague Xabi Alonso.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has penned a letter of thanks to the club's travelling fans who
watched them beat FC Gomel in the Europa League on Thursday.
A small contingent of Reds fans made the 1,500 mile journey to Belarus to support their team in
Rodgers' first competitive game as manager of the Merseysiders.
The Silverbacks announced this week, that as expected, Brian Haynes has now assumed the head
coaching job after being brought in by interim head coach Eric Wynalda a month ago. Haynes has
played the part of assistant to Wynalda during that time. With Wynalda heading back to Fox Soccer
full time this past week, he [.
So, there were some NASL games played this weekend. What? You don't care? You heard that Eric
Wynalda is going to be coaching the Atlanta Silverbacks? That's right. You heard it first from this
tape-delayed recap that the one and only Eric Wynalda will be coaching the Atlanta Silverbacks on
an interim basis.
After flirting with the possibility of joining MLS earlier this year, former U.S. men's national
team goalkeeper Luis Robles has finally struck a deal with the league.
The 28-year-old Robles reportedly agreed to a contract with MLS on Tuesday, and his next home
will be determined via the allocation process due to him having been capped by the United States in
the 2009 Gold Cup.
Came across a fascinating video, via the Daily Mail, from the semi-final of the California State
Championships in March. This is either under 11 or under 12′s.
The team from the Barcelona academy in the U.S. thrashes an Arsenal side (not affiliated with
Arsenal FC) 6-0.
It was not the score that caught my eye, it was the of play.
The Portland Timbers relieved John Spencer of his coaching duties effective immediately, as
announced on July 8 by Timbers owner Merritt Paulson. Technical Director Gavin Wilkinson will
assume the coach role on an interim basis with another assistant being brought on to aid in
scouting and help Wilkinson and the three current assistant.
On talking to players after a game like that:
"I had a chat with the guys at half time, a chat at full time. Obviously we've got a game Tuesday
so it's a quick turnaround."
If the quick turnaround is a good thing:
"Not if we play the way we played tonight.
The Fire may be on the verge of a defending boost.
Both Cory Gibbs and Steven Kinney are on their way to recovery from their injuries, which will
hopefully add depth to an already formidable back-line.
"Things are going well. I'm on progress to be back hopefully training fully in the next three to
four weeks," Gibbs said, after spending the first hour of training jogging around the pitch at
Toyota Park.
A 13-year-old Irish boy has signed a deal with Premier League giants Liverpool in a move that's set
to land him and his family a €1m fortune
Conor Masterson was also courted by both Manchester United and City but decided to sign for
Liverpool having already been a fan of the team.
The young centre-back - who leaves Dublin side Lucan United to move full-time to Merseyside when he
turns 16 - has already met manager Brendan Rodgers to discuss his future at Anfield.
After twelve straight days of football, a break between the group stages and knockout rounds at
Euro 2012 comes as something of a shock to the system—at least if you're not a fan of the Finnish
Veikkausliiga and getting set to watch FC Lahti take on Haka Valkeakoski. I does, however, mean
that with attention given a chance to focus on something other than the tournament in Poland and
Ukraine, all of a sudden there's more Liverpool news leaking out.
Chelsea have announced that Roberto Di Matteo will become the full-time manager after serving as
caretaker/interim for the last few months of the 2012 season.
Initially, Di Matteo was not expected to have a chance to have the job past the season but
winning the UEFA Champions League changed things.
Great news for Roberto Di Matteo and for Chelsea football club in general I feel with the news
that Roberto Di Matteo has been announced as the full time boss of the West London football club
following their FA Cup and Champions League final success.
It had looked as if Di Matteo was going to be shunned the chance to take on the Chelsea job on a
permanent basis due to the lengthy spell after winning the coveted European trophy, for the first
time in the clubs history, with no positive announcement regarding Di Matteo and constant rumours
of other top class managers who'd seemingly been approached about the job.
Andrei Arshavin is a very talented footballer. There's no question about that. Even his critics
would have to admit the Russian captain has the skills needed to succeed at the top level of the
sport. However, as often happens in the world of sports, he may need a change of scenery, since he
doesn't seem to be able to put it all together when playing for Arsenal.
Now there's a question for you!. Having won the FA Cup and Champions League already, what do you
think that Roman Abramovich will want Roberto Di Matteo to achieve this season after he is
appointed as the full time Chelsea Manager tomorrow?.
Will he want to become the first side to retain the Champions League in it's new format in history?
It seems that Fraser Forster is still keen to join Celtic on a full time basis. Fraser Forster
Newcastle 6'7″ goalkeeper There had been discussions going on last week in Glagow, about a
contract for the 24 year-old, who has been allowed to leave Newcastle, for a transfer feeÂ
believed to be around £2M.
While heartless Fernando Torres was busy using Italy's misfortune to bag himself the Golden Boot,
at the other end of the pitch Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas was begging the match officials to
blow for full-time. With the Italians trailing 4-0, down to 10 men and completely out of steam,
Casillas asked for the match to [.
As the full-time whistle blew and England-Italy went to penalties, Fabrice Muamba was obviously
preempting the same old England lunacy tweeting the following...
Kyah Simon scored a minute before full time to deliver the Breakers to a 1-0 win over the
Chicago Red Stars on Saturday at Dilboy Stadium.
Simon's league-leading 10th goal of the season gave the Breakers a share of first place with the
Red Stars, with both teams on 24 points through 10 games.
The Red Stars claimed an early advantage, then pulled away in the second frame of Saturday's 4-0
win over the Mutiny.
Michele Weissenhofer (36′), Amanda Cinalli (68′), Lauren Fowlkes (73′) and Lori Chalupny
(84′) all tallied for Chicago while Jamie Forbes kept the sheet clean.
After the board remained unblemished as halftime neared, Weissenhofer took a pass from Cinalli
and put it throught to give the hosts a lead it would not relinquish.

The rumour mill is really in full swing now isn't it and one story that keeps doing the rounds is
that Roberto Mancini, still reeling from the fact that Man City let Sturridge leave the club, is
keen to re-sign him.
Sturridge started last season well under AVB and looked to be full of confidence.
Let's be honest here, the club should have made their managerial appointment by now shouldn't
they!. It's obvious that Roman wanted Guardiola and has done for years and I really don't see him
going back on what he has said about taking some time off to be with his family. Of course if Roman
wants him, he will do what he can to try and change his mind.
After yesterdays post and the fact that Harry Redknapp being linked with Chelsea just
doesn't seem to go away, it seems that it may finally be put to bed after Roman Abramovich has seen
sense!.
According to reports in the English Media this morning, Roberto Di Matteo will get the job
on a full time basis and will finally lose the "Interim" tag.
[Update: We'd originally credited this to Davide Somma (on account of the commentary sounding like it's Somma, the YouTube video claiming its Somma and even the minute-by-minute live text updates of national newspapers claiming it was Somma). After taking some of the comments left below on board, it looks like it's actually Rodolph Austin.
Oldham Athletic winger Lee Croft has denied he racially abused a ball-boy during a mid-game row on Saturday. Croft was seen ranting at the Sheffield United youngster after he petulantly kicked the ball away to waste time before a Latics throw-in. The 27-year-old denied his rant included any racist language.
Hackworth is now the Union's full time manager, but his team is in disarray. Can the Union boss put
together a side than can compete for the rest of 2012?
The Spanish Football Clubs are playing diverse pre-season friendly games locally & around the
World. One of the more interesting games was played yesterday in Paris when PARIS ST GERMAIN hosted
FC BARCELONA. The end result was 2 - 2 full time, but FC Barcelona won the penalty shoot-out 1 - 4
with goalie Pinto making two saves during the shoot-out.
As a Chelsea fan wherever you are in the world, you will know that there are plenty of Chelsea
sites and blogs out there to choose from but did you know there are only a few 100% independent
blogs?
Now I am not backed by anyone, I am not part of a sports network of blogs and I do not have a team
of people that take part and write this website.
The Dynamo waived defender Oscar Recio, who was acquired on loan in April from from Mexican club
Monterrey. Recio, 23, did not play in any MLS matches, but started and played full time in all six
of Houston's Reserve League matches in 2012. Recio also started and played 90 minutes in the
Dynamo's 1-0 loss [.
You may be wondering why The CO has been largely comatose for nearly two months. It's a good
question.
A lot of it could be traced to lethargy. Both Devin and I work full time; we also have lives to
attend to. Not really a fitting excuse (at least from my perspective), but it's true to an
extent.
A few eyebrows were raised, a few heads scratched and a few foreheads furrowed when Sriwijaya
appointed Kas Hartadi as their coach for the 2011/2012. Kas who, or Kas siapa, was the general
response to the man charged with consigning Ivan Kolev's trophyless campaign to history.

At least we have Clint Dempsey. U.S. 1, Guatemala 1 Ugh. From the fact that CONCACAF sold the match
as a one-off, $29.95 Pay-Per-View, to the grainy feeds most people probably watched it on, to the
continued, inept officiating in games involving the United States it felt like a proper fart in the
mouth by the full-time whistle.
