So says Duncan Castles on Twitter.
In which case:
- why have Fulham sold an important player to a rival?
- why is there no obvious replacement in place, even though we are not safe from relegation?
- why did we only receive £4-6m for a player who is in or around the England squad?
On this side of the Atlantic, the football news that received quite a bit of attention over past
few days was Friday's FA Cup tie between Everton and Fulham, featuring Clint "Hat Trick" Dempsey,
Landon Donovan, and Tim Howard. Everton won, and as SI.com put it,
Landon Donovan etched his name further into Everton lore with two assists in the
Toffees' FA Cup victory over Fulham.
Former New England Revolution star Clint Dempsey could be changing teams before England's
January transfer window comes to a close at 6PM ET on Tuesday. The current Fulham FC midfielder has
been lighting it up in the Barclays Premier League with 15 goals through all competitions and could
see a dream move to one of the top clubs in the league before Tuesday's deadline.
Much has been made in recent weeks of the Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey debate. The debate began as
a casual conversation while trying to design the perfect US National Team lineup. It seemed at the
time, there would be no way to pin down which player was truly better. Donovan plies his trade in
Major League Soccer whereas Dempsey produces his magic in the English Premier League.
Landon Donovan assisted on both of his side's goals as Everton came from a goal down to defeat
Fulham 2-1 in the Fourth Round of the English FA Cup on...
This Friday, David Moyes' Everton will take on Martin Jol's Fulham in England's 141 year-old FA
Cup. The tournament's glorious historical significance will play stage to a battle that many
Americans will be keen to observe: that of Everton's on-loan forward, Landon Donovan, versus
Fulham's leading scorer, Clint Dempsey both Americans.
Fulham Football Club surprised Newcastle United on Saturday with a come from behind second half
surge sparked by a Clint Dempsey hat trick, the second in as many weeks for the American.

Two weeks ago Clint Dempsey made headlines with his first career hat trick, hitting the back of
the net three times in Fulham FC's 4-0 FA Cup Third Round win over Football League One (English
second division) side Charlton Athletic.
Now, just a day after being named 2011 U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year, Dempsey is in the
news again, with another three goal performance.
This morning, Clint Dempsey became the first American to score a hat trick in the Premier League,
leading Fulham to a come-from-behind 5-2 win over Newcastle at Craven Cottage. Danny Guthrie put
Newcastle on top with a goal from distance in the 42nd minute, but Fulham's Danny Murphy converted
a penalty kick following a foul by Davide Santon against Damien Duff in the 50th minute to tie the
match

If you're a Blues fan, this just hasn't been a good month. Draw Spurs and now you are in 4th
looking up at Man City... Then, despite 12 shots on goal, you can only find the back of the net
once (thanks Torres for missing yet again), as Dempsey scores his 9th of the season to pull back a
point for Fulham at the Bridge no less.
A goal and an assist for Ruiz and Dempsey puts away his 8th goal of the season to tally 38 total
goals, a record for an American in the EPL. Fulham gets the rare win this season, 2-1.

Apparently, Arsenal really don't want any silverware this year. Case in point? They drew at home
with Fulham. And because they were so afraid that they might get the full 3pts, Vermaelen got the
high sign from Arsene to spot them an early own goal. Wow. Just can't believe how this team has
sunk.
Following the International break, we are back in the full swing of club football with Arsenal
playing their third game in a week; what with City on Tues, Wigan on Saturday and Olympiakos the
following Tues, we are busy. Long may it remain thus because it means we are in all
competitions.
Today brings Martin Jol's Fulham to the Emirates.
Arsenal continue their decent into the relegation zone after another disastrous Champions League
match where they once again showed their defensive frailties and lack of mental strength and
character, and facing the stalwart Fulham FC will offer no let up to the North London crisis
situation.
Per the offal: "Fulham FC can confirm that Keanu Marsh Brown has today left the Club by mutual
consent."
Never played a minute for the first team, but was on the bench for those memorable wins over
Shaktar, Juventus; a few other random Europa Games. Had a pretty productive spell at MK Dons the
second-half of last season, and even played a part in the Dons' playoff run.
Andre Marriner, hang your head in shame 1. Blackburn managed to save a late point at Wigan, but in
doing so probably meant Steve Kean keeps his job for another week. So the big question for Rovers'

I'm sure most of you will be aware of the wonderful books about Fulham produced by Ken Coton &
Martin Plumb through the Ashwater Press imprint. They've had some issues of late trying to engage
with the club and this has put them in a difficult position regarding the production of future
books. This would be a crying shame as Ken and Martin have produced most of the very best books
about Fulham, and certainly filled the void that exisited from the official side for many
years.

European football does strange things to players. Andrew Johnson's league form has been okay
that hat-trick is in the Fulham FC permanent scrapbook but in Europe he seemingly can't be stopped.
Last night he nabbed two more for the collection, and what beauties they were.
But we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Clinic... Wow. 6-0. Wow... How do you come back from something that bad? I mean, Taarbat got subbed
off the pitch and then left the game, catching a bus before the final whistle? wow... Johnson with
the hat-trick. Dempsey, Zamora and Murphy also chip in this route. Video: Fox Sports

Putting the misery that was the weekend in the rear view, Chelsea begin their League Cup
campaign with a home fixture against West London neighbors Fulham. Those sodding neighbors. More
after the jump:
Child, please?
On paper, this is simply a Third Round League Cup fixture against a quality opponent that can
certainly cause the Blues trouble.

Ayegbeni Yakubu scored twice on his Blackburn Rovers debut as Steve Kean's team shocked Arsenal
4-3 to win their first league match of the season.
Arsenal have now won just 1 of their last 11 away league games and have conceded 12 goals on
their last two Premier League away games.
But the Gunners should have wrapped this match up in the first half when they twice held one
goal leads as Gervinho and Mikel Arteta scored their first goals for the Gunners.

Eddie Johnson and MLS caused a ruckus this week with the announcement of his signing. That
announcement was followed by a second in which Major League Soccer states Johnson backed out of a
his verbal agreement.
The apparent hang up was that Johnson wanted more money. Steven Goff of the Washington Post
reported that the two sides agreed to a salary in which he would make $175,00 (prorated) this year,
$225,000 in 2012 and then $275,000 in 2013.
Today Aaron Hughes paid for 25 kids to become Fulham FC members.
You had to keep an eye on twitter, then at 12 o'clock, retweet the club's announcement of the
competition. The first 25 people to do so got free membership for their children, courtesy of
Aaron.
Well I'm off this week andwas on the spot when it mattered, so managed to sort out a membership
for Stan.
The fields for the groups stages of the UEFA Champions League and Europa League are nearly set,
with just one play-in round remaining in each competition.
The 10 Champions League play-in ties are highlighted by an Arsenal-Udinese matchup. The teams
that win those 10 ties will be entered into the draw for the UCL group stage, while the 10 losers
will drop to the Europa League group-stage draw.
