Check out Marie-Laure Delie and Wendy Renard's two sweet goals from a July 19 friendly against
Japan:
Shamefully, there scarcely any French fans at the semi-final at the World Cup - this in spite of
the fact that the match was played very close to the French border. A jump onto the So Foot's
Équipe de France forum provides a handy lesson in what ordinary French fans think about the
women's squad.
France are one of the last few teams in the Euro 2012 to make their way to
Ukraine, and following their 4-0 win over Estonia in a friendly last night,
Laurent Blanc's squad are expected to officially 'migrate' to their competition
grounds in Donetsk today.

The Germans weren't the only ones to preen and pose for their squad's Euro 2012 Official
Portrait yesterday the Frenchies also gathered themselves at their training ground in Le
Touquet, northern France, for a wonderful family picture. French fans have been trying to get into
the grounds for a glimpse of their local heroes but only the ingenious ones were
smart enough to stake out in the bushes!
There was something oddly consuming about the dullness of today's France-Romania European
Qualifying match. It was played in Bucharest, in front of a packed and energized crowd of Romanian
fans, who understood that this was probably the pivotal moment in the country's attempt to get to
the European Cup next year.
First of all, let me congratulate Spain on their historical win today in the World Cup Final.
Congratulations!
Now that the World Cup is over, France can lick their wounds and we can all start looking
forward to a new season over in Ligue 1. A fellow Ligue 1 fan on Twitter said "So now real soccer
can start.
After their most miserable World Cup in recent memory, French fans are just wondering what went
wrong. The French players made history by walking out of training, and coupled with the dramatic
exit of Nicolas Anelka, Raymond Domenech's tenure as French boss ended in despair.
Now, defender William Gallas has lifted the lid albeit slightly on what went wrong inside the
French camp.
Former French national team defender Lilian Thuram has launched an astonishing tirade at French
World Cup captain Patrice Evra, claiming that the Manchester United left back should be barred from
ever appearing for France again.
Evra was at the forefront of the French player revolt during this summer's showcase that
ultimately saw Les Blues crash out in the group stage.
Team of the Day: A bittersweet award: South Africa. A staggering
performance, begging the question: were they holding back or was France really that bad?
Little bit of both, probably.
Player of the Day:Siphiwe Tshabalala.
With a recent loss to Mexico and a tie with Uruguay, the French have found themselves as quite a
longshot for the Round of 16. Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka must have saw it coming because he
cursed his way back to an early flight at the order of the French Football Federation.
Disappointment like this can bring out the worst in people.
Just kidding with that heading. We at Chelsea Offside obviously do not condone player on coach
violence, or any violence for that matter unless it's within the comforts of your own home. So
attack that television, particularly when you're watching the Three Lions at this World Cup.
The performance of the French team drew many different emotions from football fans around the
world. Mexico fans surely enjoyed the sight of their team overhauling a major European football
nation. French fans must have felt huge frustration watching their side put in such a lethargic
performance.
It was a frustrating opening day for the Group A teams in South Africa as none were able to
gather their first much needed 3 points. We witnessed two very different games on Friday; one
filled with excitement and passion while the other was lacking all these things that make the World
Cup such a special event for all of us.
On the eve of the World Cup, after four years of anticipation and hope, tactics and
maneuvering and hype, interestingly, it is possible to sum up the mood of the French capital on the
state of the national team in a word: pessimism.
Pessimism abounds, and it is not unjustified. Les Bleus, as the team is affectionately known
here, looked disorganized in the qualifying matches and even suffered a painful 1-0 loss to lowly
China.
One of the most balanced groups in the field, there is no clear cut favorite, nor is there an
expected whipping boy amongst these four sides. Form is everything with these teams, especially the
French, who limp in following a string of poor performances, most recently a 1-0 loss at the hands
of China.
From grown-up Spanish men dolled up in flamenco costumes (brillante!), couples kissing in
the Ukrainian rain to Swedish "body rockers", here's our photo special featuring the best fans from
Euro 2012 Matchday 2! (See Part 1 here).
Sweden may have been defeated by England last night, but it wouldn't have mattered to these fans
anyway they couldn't have watched the game through that mask!
Lyon and Bordeaux are going "all-French" in the Champion's League Quarterfinals this year.
This is a fun one because we really get to see some good advancement from France AND we get to see
two clubs that are in a heated race at the top of their battle in the Champion's League.
I'm sure that French fans would have been much happier with their teams on opposite ends of the
draw, but this way they do get to see an all-French matchup.
French winger, Florent Malouda, has apologised to Les Bleus fans after, what can only be
described as, a shambolic World Cup 2010 experience.
After scraping through to the tournament in a controversial play-off win over the Republic of
Ireland, they started the World Cup flat with a bore draw with Uruguay.
This morning The French National Team safely arrived at their first stop before the World Cup on
June 11th. After Tignes, Lens, and Sousse in Tunisia, France will spend 4 days on Reunion Island.
Where they will play their third and final friendly against China. When the team arrived at the
Pierrefonds Airport there was a great fan turnout.
With all of the recent bad news and scandals pertaining to the French National Team and the
World Cup, I thought that it would be a great time for some comic relief. Which is exactly what
this wonderful group of French fans has done, turned bad situations into humorous [read more]
Saturday's demoralizing one-nil home loss to France in the first leg of their World
Cup play-off sees the Republic of Ireland facing an uphill task to reach next summer's
showpiece. As French fans start booking their flights to South Africa, the Irish faithful are left
praying for a miracle.
You probably all know the results and scores of the days games so I won't bore you with
having to read it in this post whatI will give you is some of the rumours and
Gossip coming from South Africa. Here it is.
Nigeria fans claim they lost to Argentina because they weren't allowed to bring
chickens into the Stadium.
Two days ago, a tipo wearing a Foreignchester United jersey got into
the same lift as my parents. My dad who hates United with a burning rage couldn't
resist a stab at him and said :"Did you see Messi's goal in the Champs League Finals? Wasn't it
legendary?
I'll admit that hearing many a pundit say that a World Cup without France would lose some of its
bite made my blood boil. I have nothing against French Football, and in fact cheered for them in
each of their four knock out stage matches of Germany 2006.
But from my perspective an Irish defeat today in Paris would be a defeat for football.
The French Football Federation (FFF) have struck a blow to hopes of Ireland fans after
restricting the away side's allocation to 8000 for the second leg of the World Cup play-off in the
Stade de France.
The French are running scared of a potential Irish invasion of Paris. In 2004 Ireland were backed by
a 30,000 strong support as they held France to a 0-0 draw in a World Cup qualifier in
Paris.

Without a doubt, the book that Simon Kuper (British author and Financial Times sportswriter) is
most famous for is Soccernomics. Soccernomics takes a look at the analytical side of
the sport; the statistics, the psychology, and the economics behind why certain trends and results
in soccer are the way they are.
It's now official, France will host the Euro 2016 Competition! Today in Geneva, Switzerland a
vote was taken between the three candidates (France, Turkey, and Italy). This is very significant
for many reasons. First of all, this will be the first competition that will have 24 teams
participate in the finals.
