Colorado had a full preseason match and two short scrimmages to finish out their California trip
before heading home this morning. Friday night was the full match against San Jose, supposedly
streamed online but the Earthquakes tech department failed. If only the Quakes represented the
center of high tech innovation int his country or something.

A Damien Stewart own goal was enough to earn Stevenage a place in the 5th round of the FA Cup
for the first time in their history and gave Gary Smith a winning start as Boro manager.
The versatile Arsenal midfielder/defender Francis Coquelin has been rewarded with a new extended
contract at the Emirates. The 20 year-old impressed in a year-long loan at Lorient last season and
his steady improvement persuaded Wenger to promote him to the fringes of the first team. Due to the
massive defensive injuries at Arsenal, the French [.
Today the Rapids announced that they had signed Hunter Freeman to a contract. As normal, terms and
length were not revealed but I'm sure we'll find that information out down the road. Freeman
started his career with the Rapids in 2005 before he was traded to NY before the season. Hunter has
some versatility to play in defense or midfield, but he's primarily an outside back.
December was another unbeaten month as Stevenage continued their climb up the League 1 table.
There was also progress in the FA Cup as the Boro progressed into the 3rd round of the FA Cup after
a professional display against non-league Stourbridge.
Boro progress into 3rd round of FA Cup
A comfortable win away at Stourbridge sent Stevenage into the 3rd round of the FA Cup and a tie
with Reading at the Madjeski Stadium.
Busy day in Commerce City as the organization has a new face, a returning face, and a promoted
face.
Let's start with the roster moves. In today's re-entry draft the Rapids selected Chicago midfielder
Baggio Husidic and Houston defender Hunter Freeman. Husidic is a 24 year old former Generation
Adidas player who's been with Chicago since leaving college 3 years ago.
Crystal Palace came to Old Trafford tonight as under-dogs and left as hero's as they beat
Manchester United 2-1 after extra-time in the quarter finals of the Carling Cup. A big mention must
go to former Palace striker and now manager Dougie Freeman who's inspired second-half substitutions
of Darren Ambrose and Glenn Murray came up with the goods as Ambrose scored a 35 yard stunner
before setting up Murray for the winner 9 minutes into the first period of extra time.
November was another strong month for the Boro. Another "giant" was put in their place.

Another one of League One's elite were beat at the Lamex. Goals from Mark Roberts and Scott
Laird were enough to give Graham Westley's side the 3 points as they continued to push up the
table.
We've already named our 2011 NL MVP and 2011 NL Cy Young Award winner. Now, let's go young. Here
are the 2011 National League Rookie of the Year candidates and the winner.
3. Danny Espinosa, Washington Nationals
Danny Espinosa was great in the first half of the year. In fact, he earned a spot on the All-Star
team.
Here are the final numbers from the Players Union for base salaries and guaranteed compensation.
I don't know about you, but there sure seems to be some wasted money on this list. For example, the
Dynamo are paying Carlo Costly nearly a half million in reported pay (there could be more
allocation money involved) and all we've gotten is a red card.
BIG THANKS TO ZACH FOR HELPING ME GET THIS TO POST
Sometimes being bored has its advantages.
After an hour of being undercaffeinated while listening to a lecture about the philosophy of
coaching Under 8's waaaaay too early on a Saturday morning, my thoughts drifted to the Orangemen
(apologies to anyone Irish for that reference).
As some of the regulars on this site will have been aware for some time now, we have been
writing up the pre-season on this site for several weeks now, with the intention of putting the
whole thing together as one downloadable PDF file. I'm delighted to be able to confirm that, with a
couple of hours left before the start of the Premier League and non-league seasons, it's
finished.
We're taking a brief break from our lengthy (and, let's face it, exhausting) series of
Premier League previews for a couple of days in order to bring you some round-ups on the state of
the Football League, prior to its kick-off this weekend. Rob Freeman will be bringing you our (or,
if they're hopelessly inaccurate, "his") predictions for the coming season over the next three
days, but first of all here's a brief synopsis of the state of play as League Two prepares to gird
its loins for the new season.
Nobody does the road draw quite like the Houston Dynamo. After an all-together awful first half,
Houston was better in the second half but still were unable to generate anything resembling a
dangerous attack from the run of play. Meanwhile on the other end of the pitch, Tally Hall was once
again the star making several highlight reel saves and single-handedly carrying the Dynamo on his
back.
It was a night like few Jim Launder has seen in his seven seasons coaching the
Madison 56ers.
Needing a win and some help from other teams to stay in the hunt for their second straight
National Premier Soccer League Midwest Division title, the 56ers scored in the opening 30 seconds
but clearly were the second-best team the rest of the night.
Remember Mike Chabala? The 26-year old fullback that was a regular in the Dynamo lineup last
season, who had become a bit of fan favorite?
Yeah, that guy. What happened to Mike?
Chabala is still here, still training and working hard like the rest of his teammates but
instead of being a starter or even seeing time as a substitute, Chabala has spent nearly the entire
season on the bench, making a single 8-minute appearance.
After an unbeaten streak of six matches, the Dynamo have gone a bit off the rails with two
straight losses to the Colorado Rapids and Toronto FC. It's far to early to panic, but considering
the schedule between now and June 1st, there is certainly reason to be concerned.
This is a good team, with talent at a lot of positions and clearly worthy of being amongst the
player contenders in MLS, but there is still work to be done to sure up the tactics and get
everyone on the same page.
It was quite the interesting first half, with three goals and a controversial no-call on a
penalty shout from DC United and Chris Pontius.
Houston got things started early after Geoff Cameron tracked back hard, stealing the ball away
and quickly turning to find Will Bruin who was all alone to the left of goal.
Pep Segura's first match in charge of Liverpool Reserves ended in disappointment as they went down
to a last-gasp 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on Wednesday night.
The Reds had looked to have salvaged a point when Tom Ince cancelled out Luke Freeman's stunning
first-half effort in the final minute.
However, the Gunners striker powered home a fine header deep into stoppage time as the away side
were ultimately made to pay for their profligacy in the final third.

Antonio Caliendo and his associates have instructed their lawyers to determine whether there were
grounds for the seizure of the actions of English club Queens Park Rangers held by Mr Flavio
Briatore (through the company Sarita Capital Investment Inc) in order to protect the credits due
and not yet collected, which are still the subject of a legal dispute.
