Seattle Sounders made history by becoming only the third team in American soccer history to win the Lemar Hunt US Open Cup three times in a row. Following wins in 2009 and 2010, this year's competition was secured with a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Fire in front of a healthy 35,615 crowd at the Sounders' CenturyLink Field Stadium.

The Seattle Sounders won their third consecutive US Open Cup and were the first MLS team to do so. The Sounders defeated the Chicago Fire by a score of 2-0 but don't let the scoreline fool you, the game was competitive and entertaining. The Fire were looking to become on the third team in history of the tournament to win the competition five times, they failed in that endeavor but not without a valiant effort.

Been a very emotional week here at TSG and we are tardy in following up on our The Beautiful Game series.

Good news this month....the super touching Freddy Fund is about to break ground on their field that story.

During an afternoon conference call with the media on Tuesday, Major League Soccer's Vice President of Competition and Player Relations announced a significant change to the league's Designated Player rule. The call was attended by various print, online and broadcast media outlets and was hosted by Dan Courtemanche, the league's Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
