The Sounders have officially signed Swiss international forward Blaise Nkufo, and his addition is
the final piece to Seattle's roster puzzle. Nkufo's skillset matches up perfectly with what Seattle
was lacking last season. The Sounders didn't really have a target man on the squad, and were forced
to at times play Freddy Montero up top in a role he really isn't suited for.

club announced on its team website on Thursday.
Nkufo is currently the captain of Dutch champions FC Twente and will join the Sounders after
this summer's World Cup. The deal had been in the works for six months as the Sounders and Nkufo's
agent, Oliver Wyss of W3 Sports Management finalized the deal this week.

Has Freddy finally found a home? Will he blossom into the player many thought he could be?
Obviously, it's too early to tell, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
For those who need to see it to believe it:

When 2009 opened the Ljungberg focus was two-fold; would he be healthy and would he take the
American version of the game seriously? For 2010 we won't have those questions. We know that
Ljungberg will be fairly healthy, a reasonable expectation would be for him to have 25 starts this
season. We also know that he may just be taking the game here too seriously.

Well thats what Freddy says in this article on ESPN's Soccernet. He seems pretty excited about his
opportunity in Greece with Aris Thessaloniki FC, and we'll see how it all plays out over the next

The hosts managed to blow a four goal lead in fifteen minutes to share a point with Mali;
Angola were leading 4-1 with two minutes left, then Freddy Kanoute

game, with the last two goals coming in four minutes of injury time.

Question: do you think any of the people in this picture other than Clint Dempsey will make Bobby
Blue Eyes' World Cup squad? I've thought about it and I honestly don't know. I think Jose Torres
has the best shot followed by Run-DMB, providing he stays healthy and hot at Rangers.
After that it's a crapshoot at best.

2009 Recap: The Sounders were supposed to be terrible in 2009. After all, SJE,
TFC and RSL had all been terrible before them as recent MLS newbies. But Sigi Schmidt didn't want
to repeat history, he wanted to make it. So, he built a winning team in his first year
(12-7-11).

Once every offseason, one MLS team brings aboard a young promising attacking player from CONCACAF.
In 2008 it was Marco Pappa. In 2009 it was Freddy Montero. And in 2010, it will be Cristian
Castillo.
DC United finalized a loan last week to bring Salvadoran left midfielder Castillo to DC.

Apparently feeling nostalgic for the year 2004 and all those Campbell's soup ads, the Beeb got all
Tweet-stalker and tracked down The Biggest Midget in the Game™. It's servicable piece but that's
probably all you can get when your "interview" is conducted via fax. Still, it's worth a read if
only to remind you that Freddy is A) still talented and that B) his lack of playing time may not be
entirely his fault.

valid to me.

Tonight's US Open Cup final showed yet again that DC United is quite simply a club in decline. An
organization that once prided itself on winning MLSCups and succeeding abroad now pounds its chest
about consolation trophies and about its increasingly distant successful past.
Tonight, United looked like a team that both was not as good as its opposition and one that simply
is not listening to its coach anymore.
