Lazio has reportedly fallen victim to a transfer scam that saw the Serie A club unwittingly hand €2million to hackers.

According to Il Tempo (via Football Italia) Lazio received an email demanding the sum as part of the deal that saw Stefan de Vrij join the club from Feyenoord in 2014.

Merseyside Police have actually taken time out of their busy schedule to contact the Mayor of Liverpool and assure him that there was nothing remotely criminal about Ross Barkley's recent transfer between Everton and Chelsea.

After seeing Barkley depart for Stamford Bridge for £15million, Mayor Joe Anderson (and Evertonian) was so perturbed by the low transfer fee that he started pointing fingers, even going as far as writing to the FA, the Premier League and the Police, requesting they look into possible fraudulent activity.

The Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, has asked the police to investigate Ross Barkley's recent £15million move from Everton to Chelsea as he believes the machinations of the delayed transfer may well be fraudulent.
