Frank Klopas wrapped up his first training session as the "interim head coach" of the Chicago
Fire this morning by answering questions regarding the immediate future and direction of the team
after yesterday's dismissal of Carlos De Los Cobos. Klopas explained that the move was a "soccer
decision" and was not an easy move to make considering that as Technical Director, De Los Cobos was
his choice in January 2010.
Media Day at the Bridgeview Sportsdome featured the full current roster in training with the
exception of the two mystery international strikers, Deris Umanzor who has been loaned to Aguila in
El Salvador, and Steve Kinney and Mike Banner who are recovering from injuries.
Carlos De Los Cobos and Frank Klopas addressed the media after training.
Frank Klopas and the Fire technical staff are currently in Florida for the MLS Combine ahead of
the draft on January 13 but Klopas feels the Fire have a pretty good handle on which players
they're interested in right now. "These players have been off for a few months so it's tough to
judge guys on these games, we've seen most of them before now so we're looking for the best fit
based on who's available when we pick" said Klopas.
