The rumor mill in Europe is working overtime on the rumor that Barcelona star Thierry Henry is
coming to MLS next summer to play for the New York Red Bulls.
Today the Spanish newspaper AS reported that Henry, who is 32, would like to end his career in
the U.S.
Henry is still part of the France national team that is expected to qualify for next summer's
World Cup in South Africa, which would delay Henry coming to MLS until late in July.

With World Cup qualifiers about to take place, there isn't too much happening at club level. But
there are a few articles and updates that caught my eye.
The biggest news is the medical update on Bafetimbi Gomis. Two days ago at
Guingamp, Gomis collapsed during practice with the France squad.

Things aren't going so hot for the French national team right now. They're only sitting second
in their World Cup Qualifying group, coming off a pair of 1-1 draws, everyone hates their manager,
and now, ahead of a cupcake match against Faroe Islands (a side they only beat 1-0 last time),
their players are losing consciousness during training.

While many fans have voiced their dissatisfaction with French national team manager Raymond
Domenech recently, it's quite clear he knows exactly what he's doing.
For example, here we see his squad undergoing rigorous training for their upcoming matches
against Romania and Serbia by using rugby balls.

Barcelona won something moderately important this week. Wolfsburg also won something pretty big -
and for the first time, too. Thanks to Louis Braille, there's going to be lots of touching at
France's next friendly. Thanks to Playboy, a lot more ogling at Germany's training. Should football
be statified?

Yoann Gourcuff, who is on loan at Bordeaux from Milan, has been voted the Player of the
Year in Ligue 1 by his fellow professionals and the outstanding playmaker has expressed
his desire to remain at Bordeaux when his loan deal ends. The young midfielder has
really blossomed under Laurent Blanc after struggling on the fringes at Milan and
he is definitely the player who has to take most of the credit for the club's uptrend in fortunes
this season.

I plan to post a much longer entry tomorrow about Lyon's winter transfer season (or lack
thereof), but for now, here are some other things that I wanted to mention that don't deserve their
own post.
First off, it's INTERNATIONAL TIME!!! That's good news and bad.

Here's your weekly (or whatever) pile of things that caught my interest or made me smile this week,

Interesting quote last week from Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Gregory Coupet, on why he left Lyon for
Madrid: "I felt there was too large of a gap between myself and the young players of OL. So
much so, that I didn't see anything of myself in the new generation. That to me is harder and
harder to [...]

Remember how I said that China were becoming Lyon's new best friends? Well, it looks like Aulas
takes this BFF business seriously because today Lyon launched a Chinese version of their official
website, thanks to a partnership with TitanSport, a Chinese sports media giant.
Pretty soon OL will be signing token Chinese players a la
Manchester United.

Fabio Grosso is back in training and is expected to play against Lille on

later.

Tottenham are preparing a £12 million bid for Portsmouth midfielder Lassana Diarra. The former
Arsenal ace could be set to exit Fratton Park after Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp was told he
needs to sell to lessen the club's financial problems. (The People)
Diarra, 23, has been one of Pompey's top performers in recent months and inspired the club to their
first major trophy in 90 years, when they won the FA Cup last season.

I've totally been avoiding writing about this because part of me still believes that it's only a
nightmare...But man, out of the eleven OL players in Euro 2008, only one will be showing his face
in the quarterfinals.
I have nine other identical pictures just like

By 1970s Gooner The news coming out of the France national team's camp is that Mathieu Flamini has
cut short his international week and is flying back to London to be attended by Arsenal's doctors.
Flamini 'suffered a little something', Domenech said without explaining the extent of the injury.
He will not travel to Kiev to face the Ukraine in France's last qualifying game.

Wednesday's crucial game against Lithuania at Beaujoire. Domenech is set to make some changes from
the team that started in their 6-0 thrashing of the Faroe Islands last Saturday and there are mixed
fortunes for the Arsenal players. Sagna is expected to be rested with Diarra taking his place;
