There were incredible scenes in the Championship play-offs yesterday. Deep into injury time, Leicester appeared to be heading to Wembley ahead of Watford. With the score at 2-2 on aggregates, the Foxes were already going through on away goals when they were awarded a penalty. Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia pulled off an incredible double save from [.
The proposed exit of Leicester City midfielder, Lee Peltier, has exposed just how flawed the
Foxes' transfer policy was last season.
The previous summer, Leicester spent over £10m on nine new players, in a bid to reclaim a place
in the Premier League. Their plan backfired spectacularly, with boss, Sven Goran Erickson, sacked
by October, leaving a squad unfamiliar with each other to battle on their own.
Missing a penalty is humiliating at the best of times. Just ask Ashley Cole and Ashley Young. But
what makes it that much worse is if you do something stupid when taking the pen and it doesn't come
off. Then you don't just lack bottle, but you're also an idiot. Although Andrea Pirlo and Sergio

It cannot be denied that Leicester's current position of 13th is not really good enough for a club
that spent in excess of £15million over the summer and has the highest wage bill in the
Championship.
But in what remains an immensely truncated division, the Foxes are just three points off fifth
place and only a further four off the automatic promotion places.
Given that Leicester shipped six and four goals against Portsmouth and Norwich respectively prior
to Sven's appointment last season, it's perhaps no surprise that the Swede has since ring fenced
much of his not inconsiderable budget for shoring up the Foxes' defence. Sol Bamba, Ben Mee, Kyle
Naughton and Patrick van Aanholt were each brought in by Eriksson last term as Leicester's new
owners
The Newcastle fan alleged to have punched a horse following last weekend's derby defeat to Sunderland insists he's an animal lover. Unemployed factory work Barry Rogerson, aged 45, from Morpeth, reeled off a list of pets and a penchant for feeding foxes in mitigation for his attack on a police horse.
Sunderland may not be in trophy-winning form this season, but their victory in the
always-eventful 'sack race' may prove to be a blessing in disguise.
After looking tame and lacking confidence for much of this campaign under Steve Bruce, with a
paltry 11 points from 14 matches their return, new club chairman Ellis Short felt the club needed
to go in a new direction.
THORPE ASTLEY 9-2 BLABY FOXES

Hinckley Sunday League Division 2

I had no plans to go to a game this morning after witnessing two high scoring games in the previous
two days, firstly a 4-3 victory for Thurmaston WMP 2009 over FC Hoskins on Friday, and secondly a
4-4 draw between Whitwick United and Markfield on Saturday.

With this being the last Sunday shift for the wife today for a while, and with Leicester, like a
lot of the country bathed in glorious sunshine I decided to taken in another Sunday League game.
Perhaps the hangover persists. If it does, good for you. But here's hoping the squad are
sufficiently past the midweek celebrations and focused on the task at hand. We remain in the hunt
for the FA Cup- even if it doesn't mean much to a number of us in the grand scheme of things. It is
much more important to focus our efforts on the PL, but it sure as hell wouldn't hurt to win this
trophy (especially with a draw as kind as this).
Norwich City 1-2 Leicester City FA Cup 18th February 2012
Norwich City have enjoyed a superb return to the Premier League this season, however their hopes
of securing a last eight berth in the FA Cup were scuppered by an impressive Leicester side whose
attack-minded play put the home side under pressure from the off.
Couldn't Find the target Nottingham Forest got a 4-0 spanking from East Midlands rivals Leicester
City during last night's FA Cup third round replay. The score was only 1-0 when Forest had this
chance to grab an equaliser. Foxes keeper Kasper Schmeichel generously dropped the ball onto the
toes of Forest striker Robbie Findley just [.

For Leicester City, might British be best? is a post from: Just Football

An October managerial casualty seems to be the norm in today's game, yet the news of
Sven Goran Eriksson heading out of the Leicester City exit door
came as no little surprise to the football world.
Leicester City have confirmed the sacking (by mutual consent?) of former England manager Sven
Goran Eriksson after the Foxes won just two of their last seven games their latest defeat coming
against Millwall 3-0 at the week-end seemingly the result which broke the camels back so to speak.
And already former Foxes boss Martin O'Neill is favourite to take up the hotseat he left in 2000
for Celtic, with the Filbert Street Thai owners ready to spend whatever it takes to bring the Foxes
to a return to the promised land(Premier League).
Sven Goran Eriksson is ready to offer Leicester City's teenage wonderkid Jeffrey Schlupp a new deal
in a bid to scare off interest from Stoke and Liverpool reports the Daily Mirror.

Transfer deadline day deals: The view from the Championship is a post from: Just Football
WHILE the lavish spending of the Premier League's big boys captured most of the limelight on
transfer deadline day, there was also plenty of business done in the second tier. James McMath
looks at some eye-catching signings made by Championship clubs.
Everton have confirmed that striker Jermaine Beckford has left the club in a £3 million deal.
The transfer sees Beckford drop down a division to the Championship as he joins Sven Goran
Eriksson's Leicester City side. Beckford failed to make the grade at Goodison Park, often
frustrating Toffees fans by missing countless goalscoring opportunities.
Leicester: Having massively overhauled the squad during the summer, signing no
less than nine players, including the marquee signings of Kasper Schmeichel, David Nugent, Michael
Johnson, Neil Danns and Paul Konchesky should give the Foxes the quality needed to reach the
Premiership for the first time since 2002.
Managed by former England, SS Lazio and Manchester City boss Sven-Göran Eriksson, Leicester City

player to join Sven Goran Eriksson's team as he looks to splash the cash in order to take the
midlands club back into the Premier League.
Two sides with two former England managers who've enjoyed perhaps not the kind of auspicious start
to their Championship campaigns. Whilst the Reds might draw some confidence from a midweek win at
Doncaster, the Foxes suffered the ignominy of being booed off the pitch at the Walkers Stadium,
sorry, the King Power Stadium, where they've lost their last two games to Reading and Bristol City
