Leading up to the match against Manchester United on Saturday, we looked at Liverpool's league
games against them over the past four seasons. Given the recent history of the match, a few things
seemed clear: One, the home side was going to out-shoot the visitor. Two, the home side would
probably take the edge in possession.
The more time I spend on a college campus, the more I realize that true education comes from not
only gaining theoretical experience through classroom lectures and assignments, but from gaining
practical experience in that desired field.
Whether it be from internship opportunities to interviewing professionals, getting your hands dirty
by experiencing it yourself is the truest form of development.
The mood surrounding Liverpool may have improved with the return of Kenny Dalglish, but with a
pair each of losses and draws to go along with four wins as he and the club entered March, that
renewed optimism hadn't always led to results. At least, though, there was a widespread feeling
that it had become a squad capable of turning the proverbial corner and going on a run if they
could only manage to make all the pieces fit together.
Wigan Athletic 0-0 Liverpool | Premier League match report
Liverpool intensified their fight with the Football Association at the DW Stadium but the more
immediate target escaped unharmed. While Kenny Dalglish and his players rallied around Luis Suárez
in the wake of his eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra, potentially landing
themselves in further trouble with the authorities in the process, they missed the chance to draw
level with Chelsea as Wigan Athletic became the latest beneficiaries of their profligacy.
The second game of the busy festive period is upon us, and a trip to Aston Villa and the odorous
Alex McLeish awaits. Villa fans have not warmed to their new manager and his style of football. He
has turned them into Birmingham of 2010-11 and so far they have managed four wins from sixteen
games scoring only 18 goals.
Liverpool's Kenny Dalglish in charge for 350th match against Aston Villa
• Away results are better than at home for Liverpool • 'At home not getting what we
deserve,' says Dalglish Kenny Dalglish disagrees with the school of thought that suggests his
Liverpool side perform better away from home.

Finally a Champions League Knockout stages draw that spelt relief for Lyon. In their 9th
consecutive appearance in the Round-of-16, they meet APOEL FC; the Cypriot side that managed to
finish ahead of Zenit St.
It's been a cracking couple of weeks down on the Bay. Four wins from five league games, including a
bustling 3-1 victory against big brothers Plymouth, and the news that key players Lee Mansell and
Kevin Nicholson have joined Eunan O'Kane in agreeing long-term contracts mean that Gulls supporters
must be purring with satisfaction.

Group A
Manchester City vs Bayern Munich from the Etihad Stadium, Manchester
Arguably the hardest group on paper when the groups were drawn, the visiting Bavarians may have
thought they'd have a harder time in this section, but already on 13 points and undefeated, they've
already wrapped up the group.
Liverpool head to Fulham on Monday knowing a win would equal a club record of away successes.
In all competitions it is six victories in succession away from home - a win at Craven Cottage will
equal the club record of seven set between December 1981 - February 1982 and again in January -
March 1988.
After ending November with a shock home loss to Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup quarterfinals,
Manchester United will look to open a busy and pivotal December with a win, as they visit Aston
Villa this weekend.
United are always a popular Premier League betting pick, and they'll be favored to take the
spoils in Saturday's showdown at Villa Park.
Spanish starlet Suso was on the mark as Liverpool Reserves maintained their excellent form with a
1-0 win at Wolves.
Rodolfo Borrell's side was full value for the victory as they made it four wins out of their last
five league games.
Jon Flanagan gave an impressive display during his 90 minute run-out in a central midfield role
while Nathan Eccleston started in attack.
OK folks.
The end is getting closer. The floor is open from now for suggestions from the denizens of Twitter
and Facebook.
Be gentle.
And be generous!
But first Gary Linton (@Linton1388) tells us why Scotland will qualify for the 2014 World Cup. And
I'm compelled to tell you why they won't.
I think it is fair to say that Welsh football is on a high right now. True they are set to spend
yet another summer watching a Live Football tournament from afar, but four wins from their past
five games suggests manager Gary Speed's work is bearing fruit and with the side an average age of
24, pointing to a successful long-term future.

The England U21s made it four wins from their first four Euro 2013 qualifying games by
decimating Iceland at Colchester's Western Homes Community Stadium last night.
Watford's Marvin Sordell opened the scoring with a peachy finish five minutes before the
interval, with Liverpool full-back Martin Kelly barnstorming past two Icelandic defenders to larrup
home a second on the hour mark.

Reds unchanged: LFC v Swansea
AN UNCHANGED Liverpool side will be out looking for three points at Anfield this afternoon
against a Swansea City side yet to record an away win this season. The Reds won their last outing
2-0 away at West Brom and manager Kenny Dalglish has kept faith with the same 11 from the off.
I'm really not an expert on Arsenal trivia. Some fans seem to be. In fact, I could pose the
following question: "What happened when we hosted Birmingham in league play two seasons ago?" And
some fans could answer, "Oh yes, that's the game that we won 3-1, on goals by RvP, Diaby (remember
him), and Arshavin.
Real Madrid maintained their perfect record in Group D and strolled into the round of 16, while
Inter Milan and Bayern Münich both took giant steps towards the knockout stages.
Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo in each half, a trademark free-kick and a penalty, were more
than enough for Real Madrid as they beat Lyon 2-0 to make it four wins out of four in the Champions
League this season, and they join Barcelona and AC Milan in looking up a round of 16 place with two
games to spare.
Superior finishing helped Lazio claim a 3-0 victory from a game that was more often than not spent
on the back-foot. The result at Cagliari sees the Biancocelesti move to third in Serie A after an
undefeated October. Edy Reja's men have claimed four wins and a draw from their last five games to
quietly become one of the league's sides and this week's Team of the Week.
What a great month! October has produced four wins, one draw and ten goals. I've picked out the

VDV v Arsenal - Defoe ran at the heart of the Arsenal defence and laid wide to Adebayor
whose cross was chested down and volleyed home by Van der Vaart.
The Milwaukee Brewers declined their mutual option on Francisco Rodriguez and the closer is now
a free agent. The Brewers had a chance to lock him up for next season but the $17.5 million price
tag was apparently too high. Instead, the Brewers gave him a $4 million buyout.
Though a closer throughout his career, the Brewers used him as a setup man after trading for him
in the middle of the season.
I have been holding my breath before declaring this, but, I think it is safe to say now; Milan are
back. In the fight again Last night's win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico made it four wins from
four for Allegri's men. Few teams in Europe are in this kind of form, Real Madrid [...]
With seven wins out of the last eight, four wins a row, (albeit some scrappy ones) and goals
galore from our star player van Persie, it suddenly feels good to be an Arsenal fan again.
It even seems the majority of gooners making themselves heard on the internet via forums, blogs
and Twitter believe we can beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
Costa Rica and Guatemala have advanced to the CONCACAF Olympic Women's Qualifying Finals, taking
the top two spots in the five-team Central American tournament.

When you worry about missing the playoffs this year, just take a look at Vancouver and remember,
that could have been us.
The Timbers didn't get the benefits of being a lone expansion team in 2011, but instead had to
split a lot of things with Vancouver: dividing up expansion draft picks and the top MLS draft slot,
as well as all kinds of other obscure rankings and allocations.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp claimed that Tottenham's win yesterday was fully deserved amidst
some predictable claims to the contrary from his opposing manager.
Despite the narrow margin of victory that was sealed by Kyle Walker's first goal for the club,
Tottenham had the clearer chances and had either of Scott Parker or Emmanuel Adebayor found the net
with just the keeper to beat, the score line would have been higher.
