Jamaica defeated the United States in CONCACAF 2014 World Cup Qualifying on September 7, 2012.
It's Jamaica's first win against the USA in 19 matches. Few expected the match to be easy or a
given for the United States as they were without key players Michael Bradley and Landon
Donovan.
Things couldn't have started out better for the USA as Clint Dempsey scored in the first
minute.

The 2012 season has the Chicago Fire at a points per game average that is unseen since the
Golden Era of 1998-2003. Forty-four points in 26 games is identical to the 2003 season pace when
Chicago won its only Supporters' Shield. This will almost certainly be the first Fire team to hit
50 points since that 2003 season and it may happen before the team even plays 30 games.
Yep, you read that right, a 1-1 win. Let's be honest, any result in Honduras other than a loss
was going to be a tremendous positive. Falling down a goal early, losing Nathan Sturgis to a red
card and still pulling off a draw...well that's just epic.
The Dynamo are now in the drivers seat for qualification in to the knockout stages of the
tournament.

weight around, stole a goal, and pounded their opponent into submission on Saturday night.
What a difference a few days made for the Colorado Rapids and Portland Timbers.
After Portland stifled the Rapids with a 1-0 result at Jeld-Wen Field last Friday to put the

comprehensive 3-0 victory over the Timbers at Dick's Sporting Goods Park Wednesday night.

Champions League trophy to their collection.
In DC United's first league match since the MLS All-Star Game, Chris Pontius showed why he was
chosen as All-Star MVP of that dramtic win over Chelsea almost two weeks ago.
Pontius pounced on a rebound and scored in the 49th minute of a key Eastern Conference showdown

I owned that grey shirt and I loved it. Looking back now, I'm not entirely sure why,
because it's pretty ugly, but I thought I looked the business in it. I can't imagine my parents
were too pleased when I refused to wear it a few months after buying it. I wasn't a brat, I swear,
but when the team stopped wearing it, I thought I should too.
Arsenal will travel to Anfield on Sunday afternoon, to hopefully secure their first win of the

As anyone involved in the construction business will tell you, foundation-building can be a
frustrating thing. It's unglamorous, sometimes only distantly resembling the glittering structure
you're ultimately trying to construct, and even if you follow all the plans, you frequently don't
know exactly how good you did until it's far too late.
A bizarre mid-week day game was probably not something the Chicago Fire were too thrilled with
when initially looking at the 2012 MLS Schedule. Still, with twenty minutes to go, it looked as if
the Fire would be able to hang on and steal a point on the road against the New York Red Bulls.
If there were any lingering doubts about the San Jose Earthquakes and their legitimacy as MLS
title contenders, those doubts were erased on Saturday night by a dominating performance against
the team closest to them in the standings.
Chris Wondolowski scored a hat-trick, bringing his total to a league-best 17, to lead the
Earthquakes to a 5-0 thrashing of Real Salt Lake at Buck Shaw Stadium in San Jose.
Apologies for missing last week's Western Conference update - it was a bit of a busy week. This
week has been busy as well, with lots of personnel changes happening all around the league.
Since the last time I posted an update 25 MLS games have taken place, including three involving
the Portland Timbers.
The premier division of the Football Conference may have started last weekend, but this weekend

views on opposing Supporters Groups. Worth the read.
In November 2010, the Colorado Rapids took to a cold Toronto field and won an MLS Cup. On
Wednesday night, the team took the same field with hopes of linking "playoff" and "aspirations"
into a reality.
Playing in a stadium where the Rapids were 0-5-0 against the home team, Colorado saw those hopes
vanish in yet another 2-1 loss.
Saturday provides another fresh start for Charlie Davies, one which he hopes is just the
beginning of the turning point that launches him back to his form of old.
A week after signing with Randers FC in Denmark, Davies, who has drawn the No. 8 jersey, has
been named to the 21-man squad that will travel to Sonderjyske for the club's season-opening game
in the Danish Superliga and could very well make his debut.
