There was a time not too long ago when the U.S. national team enjoyed a wealth of midfield
options and a lack of forwards. As the team heads into Tuesday's must-win World Cup qualifier, the
Americans are faced with the opposite problem.
Injuries to Michael Bradley and Landon Donovan have exposed a lack of midfield depth and left
Jurgen Klinsmann's team lacking attacking punch and stability.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes his players need to be more patient at the top end of the
field if they are to overcome their goalscoring problems.
The Reds have found the net just twice in three Premier League matches - both goals coming in the
2-2 draw with champions Manchester City.
Their problem has been compounded by the limited options Rodgers has up front, having sent Andy
Carroll on loan to West Ham and failed to bring in a replacement after a deadline-day move for
Clint Dempsey broke down.

academy players been more important.
The academy players can provide a steady stream of fresh talent to the first team, as we see in
Barcelona, or they can provide a stream of talent that can then be sold off to pay down as club's
debt.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. Injuries and international absences may have decimated the New England
Revolution's attack, but Diego Fagundez picked up the slack on Wednesday, helping spark the offense
in a 2-0 upset win over the Columbus Crew at Gillette Stadium.
The New England Revolution had not won in 10 matches. The Columbus Crew had not lost in six.
With one result, both streaks are over.
The Revolution found a way to cool off Designated Player Federico Higuain and the red-hot Crew,
earning a 2-0 home victory to snap a franchise-worst winless skid and halt Columbus' momentum in
the race for a postseason berth.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers may consider a move for former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba,
after admitting that he made a mistake in letting Andy Carroll join West Ham United on loan and not
acquiring a suitable replacement.
Rodgers has come under fire for a lack of foresight in not securing additional striking options for
Liverpool after sanctioning Carroll's season-long loan move to the Hammers.
A trip to Anfield is always full of trepidation, despite Liverpool's recent decline, they are
