able to squeeze my ballot in just under the deadline, it was far from an easy decision to make.

This may come as very surprising news for fans of English football in the 21st century -
particularly with so many foreign names flooding our professional leagues from the Premiership all
the way down to League 2 - but it seems that even today, many young non European footballers are
still encountering serious difficulties in settling in at their new clubs here in the UK.

trying his luck with Arsenal Bandung.
If Arsenal do go ahead and sign the Aussie it will mean the international Thai Rangsan will not be
joining them as Mayora would complete their allocation of five Foreigners.

Our latest contributor to COS, Mr Rant, can get a little carried away so if
there are any small children reading this, we apologise.
I'm sure they just hate English football.
They're talking about bringing in the 6-5 rule. They blame the amount of
foreigners in the English game on the national teams poor showing at recent
international competitions.

Fernando Torres is sure the English top flight is still the world's greatest league - and is
determined to help Liverpool become its champions once again.
The division has changed beyond recognition since the last time Liverpool were crowned champions in
1990, with the influx of superstar foreigners like Spanish striker Torres placing it in the eyes of
many above any other leagues across the globe.

First off I would like to state categorically I hate the acronym EPL and never intend using it
again.
For many years Indonesian football has had no problems attracting plenty of fair to middling
African and Latin American players to its shores. They arrive, move from club to club for a while
then move on, sometimes they even get paid on time.

Beginning next season, Premier League teams will be required to have
8 home-grown players out of a squad of 25, according to measures introduced today.
According to the league's chief executive, Richard Scudamore, "one of the benefits will be that it
will help the England team," and it will give clubs an extra incentive to invest in youth.

What do Steven Gerrard and John Terry have in common? They both play at the highest level of
football; they've both captained the English national team; they've both played in a Champions
league final; oh, and they're both arguably xenophobes.
In November 2007, Steven Gerrard hit out at ‘foreigners' in the Premiership, complaining that if
a quota system is not introduced, ‘foreigners' will ‘take over'.

John Terry has a history of yob-like behaviour, and last week he made (arguably) xenophobic
comments about 'foreign mentality' being to blame for increased cheating in the English football.
Is someone who holds such repellent views fit to captain England?
In the past, Terry has:
* Allegedly urinated on the dance floor at Chelsea's Christmas party
* Urinated in a pint glass whilst standing on a bar.

The eternal question of football/soccer and its survival in the United States is: Why won't the

After a few weeks when it seemed hardly a day went by without an Indonesian team being linked with
players from Singapore or Thailand now all seems quiet.
Sriwijaya, seemingly linked with every player in south east Asia, are now considering a 35 year old
Liberian striker named Maker. A far cry from the likes of Noh Alam Shah, Teerasil Dangda, Agu
Casmir and Theerathep Winothai who had previously been linked with the Palembang side.

Ouch! I'm still smarting from Saturday's loss at Old Trafford. On the run of play we were at
least a point but we just can't resist pressing the big red self-destruct button, can we?

The phrase "EPL" (short for English Premier League) was very nearly included in this post earlier

Premier League as such. But after thinking it over, I changed my mind. And I want to explain why.
So if you're one [.

Dom Kinnear, and the Houston Dynamo have done it again. In an era when MLS struggles to keep
talented players in the league, and continues to sign over the hill, washed up foreign stars,
Houston stands above the rest.
In signing Luis Angel Landin, the Dynamo have brought to MLS precisely the type of player that
no other team has in several years.

Blogger 1-1-8 got me thinking - the Premier League season is just a few days away, and we really
should start pumping out some "preview" articles with a bit more regularity. Sites like
Unprofessional Foul as well as The Guardian and Times Online (UK) are doing an excellent job going
club by club with season previews - so we don't want to be redundant.

BRING back the foreign players but not "just cheap African players" and change the kickoff time to
5.30pm so as not to compete with the EPL playing times, to put the spark back into the
M-League.
These are among the proposals Kelantan coach Peter Butler has proposed to the FA of Malaysia (FAM)
who are in the midst of restructuring the M-League after another subdued season.

The guy that most of the Premiership teams want in their squad has a typical life story. When
foreigners came flooding Primera he was forced to move to Almeria, while Real were spending big

needed a sequel to tie them up?

First off, here's a post from The Time Finder that I read this morning and really liked.
Reframing self-care as a responsibility, rather than a luxury, sure sounds helpful to me.
I see in the news that the election in Iran is underway and too close to call. Whatever happens,
it does feel to me like things on the world stage are shifting, having been frozen in various
postures of stiff extremism for the past eight years.
