I would only say my eyelids barely open when the League Cup match between Balestier Khalsa and Brunei DPMM proceed into second half.
It wasn't a boring match to some extend with some few exchanges in between the two, but the only grump was the fact that second 45 only kicked off at 2235hrs.

Yazid Yasin - the pillar of the Eagles in difficult timesFirst "LIVE" TV shot of the season and
glad to meet up with the "guru" before he thought I disappeared.
I was not at Bugis Junction this afternoon to witness the draw of the annual RHB Singapore Cup
competition, but managed to gather some feedback from the tweets and timeline in between my
work.
The Hellas wouldn't be coming With the pulling out of Australia's South Melbourne FC
(pictured above) due to its congested fixture back home, their place was taken up by another
foreign side in the form of Yotha FC from Laos (which was only made known officially this
afternoon).
Taisuke Akiyoshi (blue) heads to BulgariaHaving read about former SAFFC winger Taisuke
Akiyoshi (joining a list of ex-Albirex Niigata [S] heading to Europe) signed for Slavia Sofia, a
club in Bulgaria on a two-and-half year as reported by TODAY, I posted my thoughts in italic
below in the blog Facebook page.
"Etoile Ultras" with their distinctive banner on matchdays"Etoile's sit out is not a surprise for
me."
That was the first comment by Mr Pierre Foucaud, the group leader of "Etoile Ultras" - the
independent Etoile FC's fan club on the 2010 S.League Champions' decision to sit out of the
upcoming 2012 season.
There he was sitting on a chair inside the venue hall almost unnoticed when I first arrived at the
Singapore Sports School in Woodlands (which I nearly lost my way because of a misguided information
of an apps on my phone).
You see Brunei DPMM coach Vjeran Simunic (pictured above or left depend on your browser setting)
would normally tucked in his trademark attire entirely in black colour and top off with a black
baseball cap embossed with the DPMM logo on match day.
The word "stability" is probably never exist in the dictionary of the league authority with the
latest news that broke out this morning (screen-grab below) that suggested the possibility of
2009's League Cup winners DPMM of Brunei of rejoining the league.
I guess we shouldn't be too surprise of this latest development.
Ahmad Latiff (pictured above in yellow jersey) delivered the sucker punch at the last kick of the
game to help Tampines Rovers beat Balestier Khalsa 1-0 at Toa Payoh Stadium.
While the Tigers had a Mark McGough's goal disallowed which they claimed the Aussie's effort had
crossed the goal line before Lions defender Fahrudin Mustafic cleared for safety in the first half.

SINGAPORE, 06 JUNE 2011: The FAS Disciplinary Committee will adjourn to Thursday, 16 June

In less than 24 hours the pole position of the league standings changes three times in the Round 6
of the 2010 S.League campaign.
Prior to the "Uniform Derby" at CCK, Home United were holding that position on top of their
unbeaten 25-game unbeaten run, only to see that record shattered by their arch-rivals, SAFFC with
their former protege, Indra Sahdan Daud playing a pivotal role in created and scoring a goal along
the way to place the Warriors at the top for the first time this year.

As part of their effort to help their fellow countrymen who are being devastated by the earthquake
and tsunami that wrecked Japan last week, Albirex Niigata (Singapore) had announced that all
proceeds from their match against defending champions, Etoile FC on 17th March will be donated to
the charity causes back in Japan.
Locals' pride was salvaged in the last 10minutes of the game as Tampines Rovers came from behind to
snatch a dramatic 2-1 win over the recently-revamped defending champions Etoile FC in the season
opener - The Charity Shield at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Things didn't start off too pretty for the Stags as they found themselves with a goal down from a
spot-kick from Etoile in less than 20 minutes.

I think we will be pretty busy over the next few days for making a decision for the 10th of
November, as we must decide where shall we will be heading to (although, I know some of us here
don't have much choice)?
And so Jake Butler, who I featured days ago, was invited to the FAS centralized trial for the
foreign players.
The Kiwi (pictured above, second from left of those standing), together with the 19 other players,
will undergo a series of matches to be played over the next few days in hope to land themselves a
professional contract in the S.
37.5% - that is the percentage NOW of seeing the RHB Singapore Cup being retained within the boundary of the Republic.
Following the completion of the first round, Tanjong Pagar United is the sole local representative in Pool B beside Global FC from the Philippines who will be joined by fellow countrymen Loyola Meralco Sparks (defeated Harimau Muda) and Brunei DPMM (thrashed Lao Police FC 4-0).

The Draw was held at the FLOAT
Seems like the past few editions of the Cup draw had clashed with my work commitments that I couldn't make it to this year's ceremony that was held at the iconic Float @ Marina Bay (pictured left).

The beauty of the Cup competition lives on in the RHB Singapore Cup as the "Final Four" - Etoile
FC, Home United, Albirex Niigata (Singapore) and Hougang United fought till the very end to see the
emerging of the Protectors and the White Swans for the 19th November date at JBS.
Fred Mendy (pictured above right) scored against his old team to send HUFC to the finalIn both
first leg fixtures of the "Final Four" saw both the Stars and White Swans agonizingly forgo their
lead in the dying moments of those matches to see their respective opponents - Home United and
Hougang United crawled back to level terms to square off the encounter.
With Andy Brouwer of "Kingdom of Football" (many thanks to "LigaSingapura" for the shot taken)It's
always nice to meet up with regional football bloggers and especially if they are happen to be here
in Singapore like Mr Andy Brouwer, the man behind the blog "Kingdom of Football".
I actually have follow Andy's blog on Cambodian football for a while and glad to gather some
insights on the Khmer football scene via his blog postings.

(Pictured above) The result of the draw
Defending champions Bangkok Glass confirmed the earlier quibbles of not coming back to defend the
RHB Singapore Cup they won last year, while last season's runners-up Tampines Rovers will face
Geylang United in a "eastern derby" showdown.
Coupled Tampines Rover's loss a day earlier in Vietnam, the 2-0 defeat suffered in the hands of Sumatran club Semen Padang by defending Singapore Cup holders Warriors in the AFC Cup Group E fixture had confirmed the exit of both Singapore clubs from the continental second-tier club tournament.
It was by not mean an easy task for the most decorated S.League club who are enduring their worst start of the campaign in the recent years (without a single at all fronts prior to this match).
(This entry is formulated based on the media release obtained via CROWD Pte Ltd, the PR agency of "NexLions Cup" together with the images being provided)
Weeks of building up leading to the inaugural Nex Lions Cup must have whet the appetite of football fans.
With the array of talents to be showcased over this coming weekend, local fans are expected to see many of the up-and-coming European footballers pipped alongside with some of the finest Singapore youth players.

Not quite the mini-Manila crowds as what we seen last year, but the vocal support for the "hosts" Loyola Meralco Sparks by the expatriate Filipinos was clearly in evidence at the Jalan Besar Stadium in this second leg fixture of the "Final Four" series between them and Tampines Rovers in the RHB Singapore Cup tournament.
Wasn't able to attend any of the Singapore Cup matches over the few days until today due to work
commitments and ultimately saw the lack of update of the blog until this.
As the result of the concluding matches played over the past few days saw the emerging of the
"FINAL FOUR" for one of the holy grails in Singapore football.
As I was filing my match report for the earlier 3rd-4th placing match between Home United and
Tampines Rovers that I wasn't paying much attention during the League Cup final match between
Hougang United and Albirex Niigata (Singapore).
But what I did realize was Canadian winger Jordan Webb was the man of the night for the wrong
reason when he came so close to end the trophy drought of the under-achievers in the dying moments
of the second half of the extra time, before agonizingly saw his spot-kick saved by White Swans'
keeper Yoshito Matsushita that gifted the Japanese their first ever title since joining S.
Last season, blogger Paul Mavroudis sent me his preview on his beloved South Melbourne FC's maiden
Singapore Cup campaign and this time round he took the initiative to pen his thoughts before the
Hellas are due to meet Albirex Niigata (Singapore) this coming Sunday at the Jalan Besar
Stadium.
Over the last weekend, I posted two youtube clips (below) of those visiting Malaysians who
travelled across to the Causeway to catch the "Harimau" in action against defending S.League
champions Etoile FC in a friendly match with proceed being channelled to the Japan quake relief
effort.
Visiting Malaysian fans singing (part 1)
Visiting Malaysian fans singing (part 2)
These visiting fans announced their unexpected arrival at the stadium amid the match between Courts
Young Lions and Albirex Niigata (S) with their chanting, singing and drumming that took everyone
inside the ground by surprise.
When the reigning TPL champions Muangthong United make their return to the Jalan Besar Stadium
tomorrow to take Tampines Rovers, I expect it would be a fiery AFC Cup showdown.
After all, when the "Twin Qilins" were here last February, they were crushed out of a chance to
make it to the continent's biggest club tournament - Asian Champions League (ACL) proper, following
their loss to the Singapore's SAFFC on penalties.
S.League CEO Lim Chin (sixth from left) led the fanfare in ION Orchard
This afternoon at the shopping belt along Orchard Road, the league authority put up their best effort, despite the rain, in getting several players and CEO Lim Chin to parade along the stretch in their painted bare top.
The colorful Croatian coach of DPMM - Vjeran Simunic
Don't get me wrong by saying the following statement.
While other have their merits on getting the nod for the nomination, but DPMM coach Vjeran Simunic is clearly one who truly deserve the accolade to be named the Coach of The Year.

Prime League - Balestier Khalsa 1-3 Tanjong Pagar Utd 20/4/13
The visitors walked away with a 3-1 win over the hosts whom being the defending champions have not able to get off to a good start in their title defending campaign.
(L-R) Mr Korenaga (wearing new ANS's home hersey) with Mr Ashizawa
In a press conference that took place this afternoon at its clubhouse at Jurong East Stadium, Albirex Niigata (Singapore) announced a new apparel sponsorship deal with "Gol.
The 3-0 scoreline of this friendly fixture played on the field at the Meridian Junior College in
Pasir Ris shouldn't be raised too much a concern for both visiting Sabah FA (in white jersey) and
newly-named Hougang United (in red-black striped outfit).
After all, both teams are in the midst of their preparation for their upcoming season, but the only
difference is the Malaysians are already several levels ahead of their Singapore counterparts in
getting themselves ready.
