I've had a chance to play the Heineken Star Player game and although I was pretty abysmal at
it, I thought it was a really good laugh. Proving to your mates that you've got the best
footballing brain whilst watching a live game, instead of just shouting abuse at them down the pub
seems more positive all around.

Late as ever, but as promised the Scottish Football Blog 2010 World Cup quiz. On the night it was
won by a man wearing a Spanish top going by the name of Carlos. He narrowly survived despite an
unsavoury assault from the team wearing Dutch strips.
A bit of help required. Every so often my local pub asks me to fling together a pub quiz. This time
it's to take place before the World Cup final, with a World Cup theme. As I'm astonishingly lazy
intrigued by the possibilities of crowd sourcing I'm asking for trivia questions. Questions on
football in general and the World Cup in particular are welcome.

But first a few words of introduction from Britain's most expensive footballer, Trevor Francis:

Now that English football has leapt into bed with American sports owners, it is worth recalling the
fit and proper person's test in the classic film Diner. Elyse, the fiancee of Steve Guttenberg's
character Eddie, must prove her marital credentials by submitting to a quiz about his beloved
Baltimore Colts.
I once went to a pokey old shop back in the UK and found dozens of old Arsenal programmes. To say I
was made up doesn't come close to describing how I felt. I spent much of the following few weeks
gingerly handling the precious proggies and devouring every word.
Sad to say the programmes have long gone.
