A new series to complement our Thursday classic programme series, we will look at football
postcards from the days when people lived in sepia.
Today, a Manchester United postcard from the 1910-11 season, part of the "Strength & Health
Series". Man Utd won the First Division that season for only the second time ever, under manager
Ernest Mangnall, a year after moving to their new ground: Old Trafford.

on a Madrid metropolitan area map, the piece traces the former World Player of the Year's path to
his destination at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Irvine Meadow ply their trade in the Stagecoach Super League Premier Division, top tier of
Scotland's Junior FA West Region. But after beating Arbroath in the Scottish Cup in December 2009
they were drawn to play against SPL side Hibernian, "the biggest game in Irvine Meadow's history"
according to club secretary Iain McQueen.

If you watched yesterday's international friendly between the USA and Brazil then you know why
Neymar is considered one of the selecao's rising stars. A lot has been written about this
18 year old wonder kid and he did not fail to prove just why he is the centre of media attention in
his native Brazil.
Ex-Arsenal hitman Thierry Henry has switched to the MLS to play with the New York Red Bulls from
Barcelona on a multi year contract. The 32 year old has become out of favour at the Nou Camp and
makes the switch to America after three years at Barcelona.
A statement from the Red Bulls said Henry was expected to make his debut on 22nd July against
Tottenham at Red Bull Arena for the Barclays New York Challenge.
As I've stated often in the last few weeks the World Cup has experienced many firsts this
summer. After all it is the first ever African hosted World Cup. And Spain hopes to be the
first team to ever win after losing their first match of the tournament. And Paris Hilton was
recently detained for the first time ever at a World Cup match for allegedly smoking pot for the
first time in her life.
Almost exactly 30 years ago, in January 1980, a man known by two names died at only 38 years of
age. There were many facets to his unusual life, and so he's remembered for many things, depending
on who you ask. The world of sports, however, primarily remembers him for having taken Germany's
most famous football photo of all time.
Yes that's right number one was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, number two is Ronaldo that's Fat

Browsing PA's football photo archive, I was struck by King Keggy's remarkable, unflinching lack of
