Andre Villas-Boas, new to London, new to Chelsea, new to the English Premiership and, to some
degree, new to football management. Having been a professional football manager for only a handful
of years and, considering his relatively youthful age (in comparison to others in the same
profession), yet to experience any serious issues the Chelsea manager is on course for one now.

I do wonder how difficult all this football management malarkey really is. You see, I'm a Rocket
Scientist and even that, which is so often used as the benchmark clever dick occupation, is not
that hard either.
However, for the purposes of this article, I think it would be fair for me to clarify my
qualifications as a Rocket Scientist.

Settling into football management at any level is not easy for anybody, least of all a 34-year old
who is attempting to steer one of the world's wealthiest clubs back to the top of both domestic and
European competitions. Yet ...

Lots of former Liverpool players have entered the stressful world of football management over the
years, but Steve McManaman is not one of them, and judging by his latest comments, it doesn't look
like he'll be following the likes of Robbie Fowler and Dietmar Hamann into the dugout any time
soon.
Poor Steve Bruce is a victim of geography
Football management is a bit like ancient Rome. Once the mob turn against you, then it's only a
matter of time before some little Caesar in the boardroom gives you the down turned thumb. Steve
Bruce didn't stand a chance when he took over at Sunderland because he's a Geordie.

Chelsea v Wolves, Saturday, 15:00 Poor Andre Villas Boas. He must have thought this football
management lark was a doddle. Write a few letters to Sir Bobby Robson as a kid. Take your coaching
badges, become manager of Porto.
Over the last couple of weeks or so, a debate has been being passed back and forth between
football bloggers over both the present and future of what they do. On the one hand, we have seen
the introduction of a new news feed service which has angered some that are seeking to make a
living from their writing whilst, on the other, the behaviour of an established football website
(which could clearly be described as "Mainstream Media") has seen the scales fall from quite a few
eyes on the matter of the ethics of established media sources.

Why clubs should be forced to stick with the same manager all season
Football management should come with a government health warning. You would have to walk a mile
in a manager's shoes to experience the stresses and strains of a job that is all-consuming. And
trying to do your job to the best of your ability is a thankless task when you've got the threat of
the dole queue hanging over you.
This piece appears in full on TEAMtalk.
As Sir Alex Ferguson celebrates 25 years at Manchester United, TEAMtalk guest Adam
Bate puts the manager's longevity down to his adaptability.
For many the personification of genius is the wizened portrait of Albert Einstein in old
age.
A mid-season tour of India was supposed to provide SteveKean with a bit of relief from the storm
brewing among the terraces at EwoodPark.
Instead it has merely fuelled the fires, with a ‘Kean out'banner somehow making the journey to
Asia with him and unfurled during afriendly and a third supporter protest planned upon his return.
Robbie Fowler recently took his first step into football management by becoming caretaker coach of
Thailand's Muang Thong United. During his glorious time at Liverpool, Fowler played under 4
different managers, including Graeme Souness, who gave him his big chance in the first team. In a
recent interview with the Official site, Fowler was full or praise for his former manager,
especially his
Why vile reaction to Rooney Rule proposal shows there IS prejudice in our national
game
As well as the support for the Rooney Rule, many people have made eloquent and persuasive
arguments against it, arguments that I respect. But I have to admit, I have been taken aback by the
level of vitriol and prejudice that has flooded into my Twitter account about a proposal which
merely seeks to give candidates from ethnic minorities a chance to put their case for a job in
football management.
Why Redknapp and Levy fall out could spell disaster for Spurs
The golden rule of football management is to allow the manager be in complete control of his
team. Looking from the outside in, that did not seem to be the case between chairman and manager at
Tottenham during the transfer window.
A press release for Football Manager 2012...are we excited. Silly question! LONDON (August 15th,

I don't know about you, but I am fed up at our transfer activity, or lack of it, this season. We've
needed a striker since January, yet it seems no proper moves to bring one in have happened. Is
anyone asking why?
Apparently, we've got money to spend. Apparently, Levy and the board are committed in backing
Harry.
Of all the places in England, Canary Wharf is perhaps the last one you might expect Sam Allardyce,
"Big Sam" himself, to have made his home, three months shy of his 57th birthday. He loves it there
especially, he says, his apartment, where a straight-talking Black Country lad who made his name in
Lancashire lives next door to investment bankers.
Sky Sports pundit Greame Souness has had his say on AVB soon after Marcel Desailly and I will
reiterate what I said yesterday, and you can bet your life on this, it's all people will be talking
about as far as AVB is concerned as our new manager.
Desailly spoke of the fact that he thought his age would be the issue, this time Souness has stated
that the fact he hasn't been in and around top class players or even played the game himself will
become a big problem and we should never have sacked Carlo Ancelotti.
I saw her wince, I saw her cry,
I saw the glory in her eye.
Myself I long for love and light,
But must it come so cruel, and oh so bright?
Sam Allardyce could be confirmed as the new manager of West Ham United as early as tonight, reports
Jason Burt, as the Hammers board successfully changed the 56-year old's mind about turning his back
on English football management.
For many the personification of genius is the wizened portrait of Albert Einstein in old age.
And yet, the famous professor was in his early forties when he received the Nobel Prize for Physics
in 1921. Moreover, his key research on the subject had been done while still in his twenties.
Likewise, the iconic image of the football manager remains the grey-haired suited figure on the
touchline a man who has seen and done it all.

Roy Keane has vowed to return to football management when the time and the club is right.
The former Manchester United captain has been out of work since January when he was sacked by
Ipswich Town.
Keane, who has dismissed talk of working in Australia or New Zealand as 'nonsense' says he is
enjoying his longest break from the game, but could be ready to make a return next season.
Oh Alex Ferguson, I despise thee. Sure you've accomplished a great deal in football management, but
you're quickly undoing all the positives by continuing to act like bitter old man. You're
football's version of Walt Kowalski, except Walt allowed the changing world around him to teach him
a lesson.
You continue unfazed down this path of trying to convince people that your club is somehow the
constant victim of organized and conspiratorial bias by the FA and any other football governing
body who's upset you lately.

It has certainly been a difficult 30 days for Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal team. Almost a month

they are now down to one.

The games are coming thick and fast in Serie A, and after a crucial midweek round in which Inter
