Billy Sharp put the majority of footballers to shame last night!
In a four week period where controversy over Carlos Tevez reportedly refusing to come on as a
substitute has repeatedly stolen the headlines in the footballing world, Doncaster Rovers star
Billy Sharp earned the unconditional respect of football fans across the nation when he turned out
just three days after the premature death of his son.
I just came across this outstanding video compendium of Dennis Bergkamp's Ajax years. From now on,
if someone asks how, when or why I came to be Ajacied in the blood or to rate The Non-Flying
Dutchman as my football hero (or even questions how I view the game in general), I can simply share
this clip.
As a Newcastle fan, I just have to throw my hands up at the Andy Carroll debacle. Whether it was
the player or the owner or both, the result is the squad has been dealt a sucker punch. The fact
that the deal wasn't even on the radar until deadline day, of course, is the worst part of the the
sorry affair.
