The latest L'Uomo Vogue has Mario Balotelli featured on the cover and a candid and revealing
interview with the City star that doesn't quite give the lie to a grumpy, immature, prankster. Yes,
he did total his £100,000 Audi the next day, set off firecrackers in his bathroom causing major
damage, got into a training ground spat with Micah Richards, and earned Mancini's disapproval
smoking cigarettes.
When you break it down, what we love about sports are the memories they create.
You build stockpiles of those treasured days and nights. We all have our "Miracle On Ice"
moments, even if all can't rise to that level of cherish and intensity.
We fondly remember that special game at your high school.
The Pride of the NorthFC Groningen 1-0 FC Utrecht (17:12:11)West Brom fan Thomas Archer sidesteps the usual Dutch red tape for a
rare chance to see FC Groningen...As anyone who has travelled to watch football in the Lowlands, and The Netherlands in particular,
you will be aware that it is easier to get a visa to enter North Korea than to enter most football
grounds to watch some Eredivisie action.
According to the current Premier League orthodoxy, the Vandals are playing the Visigoths at
Molineux this afternoon. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Stoke City don't fit with the marketing
profile of the division. These are two clubs that upset people aesthetically. They're not as
glamorous as some would like, and they don't play football in the way that those that seem to care
about this sort of thing are concerned, and neither do they just sit back and accept their
inevitable fate.
Next goalscorer? Hedge your bets You don't get too many hedges at football grounds, so perhaps that
explains how Vitoria's Fabio Santos got caught out during his side's match against Criciuma. After
finding the net, Santos wanted to celebrate with the supporters. But the stadium greenery had other
ideas.

The news that John Terry has been included in England's preliminary 23-man squad for the
forthcoming friendlies against Sweden and Spain leaves manager Fabio Capello with a huge decision
ahead of the naming of the final squad on Sunday.
Capello is to consult with senior FA figures over Terry's fate yet while the allegations of
racism in last month's match against QPR hang over Terry there can surely only be one conclusion to
these meetings.

When choosing the destination for my first ever European Football Weekend, the decision-making
process lasted for all of around 4 seconds.
Arsenal made a profit last year, despite a drop in property sales (because we had already sold most
of Highbury Square) and despite buying buy not selling players. The operating profit (before
exceptional costs, depreciation and player trading) in the football business was £45.8 million
(2010 £56.
It hasn't always been about the Champions League and domestic doubles for Chelsea Football Club.
The club's saga over its ownership of Stamford Bridge was at a time during which it had nothing
like the status that it has today one of the ongoing crisis stories of the 1980s, but the club was
(after the collapse of Marler Estates in 1992) reunited with the freehold to the ground and
subsequently set up the Chelsea Pitch Owners, a non-profit organisation which took ownership of
this freehold and the name of the club, and granted it a 199-year lease on Stamford Bridge, which
secured the club's future even though the ground stands on one of the more sought-after areas of
London a city that has seen a fair few football grounds disappear in the name of property
development in recent years.
An evening in Dortmund By Walter Broeckx Going to Dortmund is a drive with the car of about 2 hours
from my home. So it actually is closer than London is. And no water to go up, over or under. So
when the Benelux supporters met near Antwerp we were all in good mood. Of [...]
It is impossible to walk through the centre of Hastings in East Sussex without thinking of the
1996 Animals That Swim song, "Faded Glamour". From certain angles, the town,
overlooked by the remains of its eleventh century castle, retains the handsome ruggedness which
drew day-trippers and holiday-makers towards it from the Victorian era on.
Over the rest of this week, we'll be giving up more space on Twohundredpercent to non-league
football. As many of you will already be aware, this weekend sees Non-League Day
taking advantage of a gap in the Premier League and Championship schedules to try and promote the
cause of the semi-professional game.
We'll be giving over a lot of time to the non-league game over the next few days on
Twohundredpercent out of deference to Non-League Day, which is to be held this
Saturday. We'll have more on this later in the week, but first of all here's NLD's co-founder, Mike
Bayly, on the decline of terrace wit.

*ITALIAN STADIA LIKE PIZZERIAS? How times change. In Italia '90 we all marveled at Italy's football
grounds like Milan's fortress-like San Siro, Turin's caverous Stadio delle Alpi, Bari's space-age
San Nicola and Genoa's wonderfully quirky Luigi Ferraris, wishing we could have such soccer
cathedrals at home.
The BBC published a survey this week on the cost of watching football in Britain. An interesting
exercise, the challenge was to find the cheapest day out at football grounds across the
country.
(Note: Twohundredpercent has a cautionary tale about the BBC's methodology and, of course, the
survey ignored the Scottish Football League.

Football grounds in Great Britain are like cathedrals. Many of them are beautifully designed
stadiums. And for many football supporters, especially those who have been with the club for most
of their life, they see them as holy places. A place of...

Molineux, Wolverhampton. Judging by the brightness of the sunshine and the bareness of the
goalmouth, it's springtime. The camera lingers on the main stand as it fills up with a lone
goalkeeper (Mike Stowell, perhaps?) warming up in front of the camera. Finally, a shower of
ticker-tape and the team takes the pitch.
Families of Hillsborough victims rejected any return to standing at football matches.
They spoke out as a public debate about the reintroduction of "safe" standing at football grounds
in England went ahead in Liverpool last night.
The meeting was organized by the Football Supporters' Federation (FSF) at The Sandon pub, in
Anfield.
The next in our series on the lost homes of British football comes from Reading, where
Reading FC left Elm Park for The Madejski Stadium in 1998. Our thanks go to Rob Langham from the
excellent The Two Unfortunates, for this story of the history and memories from
Elm Park. We are still very much looking out for submissions on this subject, by the way.
Next up in our series on the lost football grounds of Britain, comes one of the most
poignant stories of all. Darlington left Feethams for The Reynolds Arena in 2003, leaving behind a
home of over a hundred years to play in a vast bowl that has proved to be disastrous for the
club. Stefan Volkmann writes on this most painful of moves.
