EPL Talk 17 November @ 05:30 AM EST
Many of the regular readers of EPL Talk will know that I'm a massive fan of retro football
computer games, so I was pleased to come across a video showing what the original Football Manager
game, made in 1982, looked like when played on a Sinclair Spectrum computer.
The video painstakingly goes through step-by-step of how to play Football Manager, which was the
classic computer game that started the football management game craze.

On paper the game tomorrow against 2nd bottom Peterborough should be an easy game. But football
games are not played on paper, and we've already learned that in the Championship that any side can
raise their game on the day, especially when they play Newcastle. And the opposing team's play
bears no resemblance to their league position [.

Sergio Aguero inherited the mantle of star striker at Atletico Madrid from Fernando Torres and
on Tuesday night he showed exactly why, scoring two excellent goals in a 2-2 draw against Chelsea
in the Champions League.
Aguero has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in the last 18 months, and there
were claims by Atletico Madrid this summer that they rejected a £42m bid for the Argentina
international.

Yes, this is a football blog. And no, this post isn't very football-related, but it's something
that we all have in common. We've all, at one time or another, used a computer to surf the Internet
and visit EPL Talk. So I thought it'd be interesting to hear from you, the readers, what your first
computer was so we can get a better idea of how far we've all come.

It's ninety minutes deep into an intense Manchester Derby rivalry and both sides are square.
The referee signals for the projected extra time and the two clubs battle on. Michael Owen, a
Manchester United 90th minute sub, puts home the game-winner well over the initial extra time
given by the officials.

‘If in doubt, get it out!' It's a cry heard from many a parent and even coaches every weekend
around the country at junior football games.
It's a cry that can sum up in a nutshell the attitude English football has carried for many
years. And looking at some of England's attempts to win major championships since 1966, it's a
slogan that the national team should have had stitched to their shirts at times.

The FIFA series has been around for years now and the latest release "FIFA 10″ is getting a
lot of attention after last season's highly acclaimed FIFA 09. Last season's version was reviewed
very highly and EA Sports is set to improve with FIFA 10. I was able to ask FIFA 10 producer David
Rutter some questions about the game.

Last night, a great night from brand new KuPS signing Dickson Nwakaeme helped KuPS to a 3-0 win
over RoPS, while TamU did exactly what was needed and overcame JJK with the scoreline 1-0. A more
detailed round-up is on the way once the round is completed, but for now we are taking a look at
today's games
FC Inter (7th) FC Lahti (9th), Sunday 6:30 PM
As the league table indicates, both sides are underperforming.

I'm starting a trend with my articles now... they all seem to start with "Last year I wrote
article XYZ", well this one is no different!
So last year I wrote an article about the state of the ticket system for Arsenal Fans. And I
hate to announce over the last year things have got worse, I lost my wallet with my precious
membership cards in.

TPS won MYPA 3-1 and Lahti took a 2-1 win over Tampere United. The latter meant that my
prediction accuracy fell from 100% to 50% compared to Wednesday's round of games, and I'm too
disillusioned to round the games up in any more depth now. I will round them up later, however,
once the whole round is over.

A BIG thanks to the TRBA regulars who have touched base over the past couple of weeks to enquire
about why I haven't been writing about all the big football games and news doing the rounds over
the past month and half, where we've been witness to such wonderful things as Barcelona's UCL
success, the Socceroos WC qualification and the launch of our compelling World Cup bid.

As the summer months have arrived, we're going to take a brief look back at some of the
football games that have graced your computer screen over the last few years or so, starting with
"Football Manager", the grandfather of them all and a game which still exists, albeit in an
unrecognisable form to the original.

"I think it's not a pitch," said Wenger. "When you build a stadium with that kind
of money and you still have no pitch, it's laughable. The quality of the pitch is a
disgrace."
It's fairly normal for the losing team to find an excuse. When it's Arsene Wenger, you take it
for granted he will find something to blame the result on.

The remembrance of the tragic events at Hillsborough has shown just how much the reputation of
football fans have been rehabilitated in the last 20 years.
The messages and lessons have been painful but have also been slowly accepted by most people.
But it is also a time to reflect on whether there is still more that needs to be achieved within
football grounds.

There is little doubt that forwards get the applause on the football field, but a new article has
raised questions about who deserves the credit for football victories.
Jonathan Wilson recently composed an article published in the Guardian on why the full-back
position is the most crucial on the football pitch.

We celebrate the launch of Football Manager 2009 by looking at some of the series' more
light-hearted moments 1. Touchy feely managers 2. Giving a new meaning to long throw 3. Presumably
there was a frustrating number of injuries in this match 4. The world's least imaginative parents
5. Who says there is no loyalty in the modern game?

Euro 2008 is, of course, the European Championship but that doesn't mean anyone outside of Europe
is excluded from the party. After my esteemed colleague Jefferson Chase reported on the US Embassy

article was also picked up by the Drudge Report), a host of Stateside comments flooded in.
