I have to say that the general opinion of Ron Gourlay amongst Chelsea fans isn't exactly "ideal"
but he spoke yesterday after Chelsea beat Benfica and booked their place in the Champions League
semi finals against Barcelona.
He spoke of the Barcelona game and was also keen to re-iterate that although Di Matteo has turned
things round, there is still a way to go until the end of the season.
In difficult circumstances today Chelsea have to be professional and get three points at Villa Park
this afternoon. Yesterday news broke that Stillian Petrov has been diagnosed with acute Leukaemia
(cancer of the blood) and has immediately come down to London to a specialist hospital to start
treatment.
Ibrahim Affellay and a pack of his Barca teammates headed to the DSquared store in Milan earlier
today.
There's some serious weirdness going on in the world of football, Kickettes, and this time it's
got nothing to do with our staffers and their nefarious nocturnal activities.
What a big win, and a big loss! Conceding the goal in that manner added another chapter to the
special Arsenal edition of 101 Extraordinary Ways To Concede A Goal. While the remarkable
comeback in extremely trying circumstances completely countered the impact of that goal in the
short term, the injury to Mertesacker will make the future games all the more challenging.
Presenting The Tumblr Football Club Fantasy Premier League, hosted by
A Football Report and the football community on Tumblr!
Last year, the AFR Fantasy Premier League had over 650 participants. This year, we're hoping to
shake things up a bit and focus on getting the football community (from our friends at The
World's Game and The Beautiful Game Blog to all the personal blogs) on Tumblr involved to
create something special.
Finland's football community is frequently in an agitated discussion about about whether its
culture is sufficiently impressive to nurture any kind of football worthy of respect. The presence
or absence of something called 'football culture' might, to the casual observer, seem like a
function of the league system (if there's football matches, bingo!
They've been playing for one hundred and nineteen minutes on this balmy Mediterranean evening at
le Stade Velodrome in Marseille and nothing, so far, has been able to separate the two teams.
France, who sailed through the group stages of the 1984 European Championships, have surprisingly
met their match in Portugal, who, prior to this summer, have not reached the finals of a major
tournament since the 1966 World Cup.
It's now less than two weeks until the 2011 Women's World Cup starts in Germany, and over the
next couple of weeks and tonight we are taking the time to bring you a quick run-down of the teams
that are taking part in another of the groups of this year's competition. Last night, we took a
look at Group A, and tonight it's time to dip a toe into Group B, which features
two teams on the rise and two of the tournament outsiders.
Are Gold Coast junior soccer players better than, and more in number than the thousands in Canberra
and the surrounding region.
Well, no and no, is the answer.
But the current Gold Coast United A-League franchise, despite only pulling a couple of thousand
people per game, and losing almost half their squad this year, still have a pathway and youth model
any young player or parent of a young player in Canberra, would die for.

ready for the Euro 2012 craze.
Euro 2012 Predictions: Winners, losers, overachievers and failures - originally posted on
Soccerlens.com
With Euro 2012 just over two months away, the football community is preparing itself for what
should be an exciting and close-run tournament in Ukraine and Poland. Holders Spain are the team to
beat, but with Germany, Netherlands, England and Italy showing good form in the qualifiers, it will
be an open competition.
Tottenham Hotspur are on their way to Wembley again for the FA Cup semi-Final against Chelsea
after battling past an inspired Adam Bogdan Bolton side on an emotional night at the Lane.
The night started with  both sets of players warming up in T-shirts which read "Uniting for
Fabrice" on the front and "thank you for your support for Fabrice" on the back.
THFC is delighted to welcome back Bolton fan Dominic Walsh who reflects on the
distressing events of Saturday and asked to write this article as a thank you to the Spurs
supporters.
After what has happened over the past few days I just wanted to write a few words echoing many
sentiments that have already been shared but more than anything to say thank you to the fans of Â
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
New SPL TV deal Good or bad for Scottish football? is a post from: Just Football
by William Heaney
Not surprisingly, the news that Sky and ESPN have extended their deal to provide coverage of the
SPL has been well received within the Scottish football community.
The two companies have been the league's main broadcasting partners since 2009, when they came
to the rescue after Setanta's collapse.
Back in 1950, Harry Keough perhaps summarised best the general attitude toward the quality of
the American game that might still hold true in some quarters of the international football
community. After the postal worker and semi-professional defender considered England's now
legendary 1-0 loss to the US in Belo Horizonte, he quipped, "Boy, I feel sorry for these
bastards.
FIFA has shocked the world's football community by dropping corruption procedures against Jack
Warner, the suspended Executive Committee member and president of the Confederation of North,
Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) following his sudden resignation
from all positions in international football.
It has been a year since the incident at Loftus Road. During that time, some of the deep divisions that exist in football have been exposed. In the coming months there will be ongoing discussions, we are sure, on finding a way forward. We intend to participate in these discussions, along with numerous other current and ex-professionals of all races, from the grass roots upwards, across the football community as a whole.

The recent upheaval following a club match in Egypt that left 74 people dead and more than a
thousand others injured could have easily convinced Bob Bradley to pack up his things and return to
the comfort of the United States.
Instead, the former U.S. national team coach and current Egypt national team coach reportedlyÂ
remains committed to his job while doing his part in the rebuilding of a nation.
A Lambe in Reds' clothingNot baaaaad! Sorry, we promise that is one of the last
couple of dozen lamb jokes we make... today. All for good reason though, as Toronto FC officially
announced their first new recruit for 2012 today - tricky, young midfielder Reggie Lambe.

The 20-year old Bermudian international has been flirting with the English Championship since
signing with Ipswich Town's youth program in 2009 - two years after his international debut with
Bermuda at 16.
John Terry spoke to the press ahead of England's friendly with Sweden and has revealed he is
feeling good, getting plenty of support from players and managers alike and always looks to two
Chelsea Captains of the past as his inspiration.
We all know what allegations JT is facing at the moment and as a result he couldn't speak directly
about the investigations being made by the FA and Police.
We're desperate for a pathway, a male pathway, and Canberra FC have a chance next Thursday. We wish
them luck, but they don't help themselves or the rest of Canberra Football do they.
Our flagship?
So while they are blaming Capital Football, their supporters (some) are even claiming racial
discrimination (ridiculous), I can only see that they are shooting themselves and the rest of
Canberra football in the foot.
Why Garry Cook will be instantly forgotten and Blackburn fans are finally waking up and
smelling the chicken
Garry Cook is gone and will be instantly forgotten. He left Manchester City with typical
gracelessness. He refused to apologise for the distress caused to a cancer sufferer.
I think it would be interesting to use the following as an example since we are presently on the
look out for a new "S.League CEO".
I'm not sure if recent announcement by the league authority that they are on a look out for a new
man in charge of the league did actually set a buzz in the local football community, which is of
late swayed with number of things that taken place of late such as the joint FAS-FAM MOU and the
Lions' making it to group stages qualifiers of the World Cup.
For most people the Matildas crashed onto the scene with "that nude calender" way back when; but
for the football community it was 2007 when they really made their mark.
Reaching the second stage of the World Cup in China in 2007 on the back of some exhilarating
displays made even those "football is a man's game" take a sideways glance.
Twenty-six years ago, number 23 launched himself from the free-throw line and produced one of
the most indelible moments in NBA history. The result was a perfect score of 50, and another early
milestone for the kid who would become 'Air Jordan.' Fast forward to this past February. A
relatively unknown kid from the Congo also took off from the free-throw line sparking immediate
comparisons to Jordan's dunk and ecstatic praise from the commentators.
