As you're probably aware, Brazilian football (CBF and CONMEBOL for that matter) have no respect for the international break. So two matches took place in Brazil on Wednesday night one for Copa Sudamericana and one for the Brasileiro. And it was enough for the biggest collective nervous breakdown, I've ever seen.

What seemed to be a terrible year for Fluminense may end up as a good one, after all (obviously, staying in the first division is fundamental to that). In the first-leg of the semis, Flu played as it is supposed to: as a big and traditional club. It played the first-half better than Cerro Porteno, but did not score.

Palmeiras prez wants to spank referee

While Sir Alex once again displayed his ref insulting Tourrettes after his side's loss to Chelsea, what Palmeiras president Luiz Gonzaga Belluzzo had to say about referee Carlos Eugenio Simon after their 1-0 loss to Fluminense makes the sum total of Fergie's ref rants look downright complimentary by comparison.

Getting relegated sucks. Nobody ever goes down without a fight, but really, there's only so much you can do in that situation. I mean, it's like you can formally ask a higher power for a legitimate miracle to save your club from the clutches of demotion, right? After all, it's only football.
