There were signs and banners like this all over the stadiums of Serie A this weekend showing
support to the region of Abruzzo and all of those poor people that have to go through this tragedy
that was the earthquake. Many teams donated their revenue from Sunday's games to Abruzzo and
Fiorentina defender Luciano Zauri (born near L'Aquila where the earthquake hit) started a
collection amongst footballers.
Due to Livorno's loss on Friday, Bari were mathematically promoted to Serie A and will return to
paradise after 8 long years of Serie B. The last time Bari were in Serie A they had players like
Antonio Cassano and Simone Perrotta on the books. This season they were expected to at least
contend for a play-off spot but nobody expected them to dominate Serie B.
Times they are a changing in the Premier League
Six weeks ago the English press were running around like little school girls gushing over the
brilliance of our national league. Three teams representing the Premiership had reached the last
four of the European Cup two years on the bounce.
