Many are expecting Liverpool's Champions League fate to be decided a fortnight today but I'm
convinced it will boil down to the last game against Fiorentina.
I can see Lyon getting a result in Florence and the Reds seeing off Debrecen to set things up for a
Match Day Six showdown at Anfield.

Lyon coach Claude Puel has assured Liverpool they will be doing their all to beat Fiorentina,
despite already securing qualifcation.
Liverpool's hopes of reaching the last 16 of the Champions League is out of their hands after
Lisandro Lopez's dramatic late goal denied the English side all three points in France on Wednesday
night.

A kick in the stomach. There's no better way to describe a game where, with a squad decimated by
injuries, Liverpool went to Lyon and totally dominated. With better finishing, the contest should
have been over by half time and when Ryan Babel scored, it looked as if Liverpool were going to get
a much merited win.

There is a feeling that Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez can be a little too stubborn for his own good
at times and he is putting his reputation in unnecessary jeopardy by belligerently backing
misfiring midfielder Lucas.
Few Liverpool observers are convinced that the Brazilian midfielder has what it takes to claim a
regular role in the heart of Benitez's side and his woeful performance in the defeat against
Fiorentina on Tuesday night did little to silence the army who believe he would be more effectively
employed as a bench warmer.

Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt feels that the Reds' previous experience of beating Italian teams will
stand them in good stead when they face Fiorentina in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Merseysiders beat Inter in the San Siro on their last visit to Italy in 2008, and Kuyt feels
sure that they can manage a repeat in Florence in midweek.

Adrian Mutu, after having two appeals against his FIFA fine for breach of contract dismissed by
the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), is now seeking another alternative to paying the 17-plus
million euro fine to his former club, Chelsea.
Now he wants to make a substantial donation to several charities, including one of Chelsea's
choice.

Sting the musician, not the verb was in attendance for the Champions League playoff second leg
match between Fiorentina and Sporting yesterday in Florence. Seems kind of random, but I'm sure
there was a very good explanation for him gracing such a nondescript match with his presence. I'm
thinking something like:
-He knew it would be one place where the other members of The Police wouldn't be to annoy
