A violent riot erupted following a match between Egyptian rivals Al-Masry and Al-Ahly, leaving
dozens of people dead and hundreds of others injured.
According to various reports, the still-escalating death count from the incident in Port Said,
Egypt, stands at 73, while Egyptian outlets are reporting that the country's health ministry has
said that more than 1,000 are hurt.

Djurgården is a sports club in Sweden. Their fans seem to have undergone a long period of
transition, after its most active group organizing tifo displays, Ultras STHLM, fell apart. But new
groups have taken on the mantle, including Ultra Caos Stockholm, who produced the trailer for the
DVD featured above.
European football does strange things to players. Andrew Johnson's league form has been okay
that hat-trick is in the Fulham FC permanent scrapbook but in Europe he seemingly can't be stopped.
Last night he nabbed two more for the collection, and what beauties they were.
But we're getting ahead of ourselves.

In the past few years, the long-running Football Manager series has been more revolutionary than
evolutionary. We've seen the advent of the 3D match engine, touchline shouts and Match Analysis
that would make even the blokes over at Opta sweat.
Greek economy fires into life for stadium seat fitters Greece's Euro 2012 qualifier victory over
Croatia was disrupted by crowd trouble last night... except in the parallel universere where Uefa
match reports are written. English referee Howard Webb suspended the match for six minutes as Greek
hooligans lobbed flares, petrol bombs and seats at their [.
UEFA have fined Barcelona £95,000 following two incidents during their 2-0
Super Cup victory against Porto in August last.
The Catalans were punished by footballs governing body for being two minutes later for the
second half of their tie with Porto and because 10 flares were lit by their supporters during the
Super Cup showpiece.

New England Revolution rookie centerback A.J. Soares will miss the club's final three games
after undergoing ankle surgery on Thursday.
Soares started 28 games in his first season in MLS, but he injured his left ankle and will need
the next 6-to-8 weeks to go through rehabilitation following the surgery, according to a
team-issued release.
ZURICH - FIFA has kicked Myanmar out of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup as punishment for crowd
violence at a 2014 qualifier in July.
Fans threw stones and water bottles onto the field during Myanamar's game against Oman on July 28,
forcing the referee to abandon the match.
Oman was leading 2-0 at the time and was awarded the victory by that score.
Football in Canberra: can it get any worse?
We're desperate for a pathway, a male pathway, and Canberra FC have a chance next Thursday. We wish
them luck, but they don't help themselves or the rest of Canberra Football do they.
Our flagship?
So while they are blaming Capital Football, their supporters (some) are even claiming racial
discrimination (ridiculous), I can only see that they are shooting themselves and the rest of
Canberra football in the foot.
Clemente Lisi writes of Michael Bradley's start to his Serie A career with Chievo Verona.

Some supporters throw flares, some supporters throw urine,
some supporters throw feces and some throw streamers on the
pitch, all equally stupid. But Kansas City has gone to a new low by some stupid fan that threw a
Omar Bravo Bobble-head at their own keeper.
Joe Cole has welcomed the addition of Stewart Downing as he bids to make a big impression for
Liverpool ahead of the 2011-12 campaign.
The No.10 is well aware of the qualities the winger possesses from their time together with England
and believes he isn't the only shrewd move Kenny Dalglish has made in the summer transfer market.

One of the things that sets soccer apart from the standard sports in America is the crowd
atmosphere, often created by the supporter groups of the clubs. Want to experiment this summer? Go
to an MLS match one night and an MLB game another night and compare how the fans at an MLS match
create the atmosphere while the scoreboard at an MLB game tells fans when to clap and cheer.
Unfortunately, the (not so) fresh (anymore) Allsvenskan season has already seen a couple of
moments which could be considered less than optimal. A match was abandoned recently for flying
flares, and yesterday saw Helsingborg v Malmo called for a player attack.
However, approaching a silver lining: lovely to see some solidarity among players of opposing
teams, no?
I'll try to keep some live updates of the match here for those without a way to watch it. From
what I know, the three links below will show a stream of the match:

I'll add more streams if I come across any.
Dortmund fans celebrate winning the 2011 German Championship ("Deutscher Meister 2011″) with a
massive choreo. Frankfurt fans celebrate winning the self-awarded and newly invented 2011 German
Riot Championship ("Deutscher Randalemeister 2011″) without a choreo but some flares and a
banner.
Hey there.
I know a lot of you are already leaving this team for dead and saying crazy stuff like "need a
win to resurrect their playoff chances", "we should trade Nyarko" and "what about firing the
coach?". Obviously everything is carved in stone right now. The results of 26 more games are clear
and definitive and not covered in the fog of flares.
The starter before the main course. The stale garlic bread with mouldy mozzarella before the Old
Firm's Wagyu steak.
The bottom six chunter out of view with everything decided and nowt left to play for. Inverness are
safe in seventh - and how we thank the split for making seventh place such an aspirational target -
and Hamilton are doon.
So, just a little over a week after we won our first Cup in so many years (despite the rather
depressing events which followed after the match), us AEK fans were treated to yet another pleasing
weekend. This time, however, the attention was not only on our football team, but also our Handball
guys, a group of players who have fought hard and gave everything they had to offer to the club for
the past three years.
By some grotesque strain of logic, it only seems natural that a season already wretchedly scarred
by the "derby of shame" and PAOK fans hitting AEK players with flares would include a cup final
that "set Greek football back over a hundred years," according to Atromitos president Giorgos
Spanos.
His side lost to AEK by a score of 3-0 in a Greek Cup final in Athens' Olympic Stadium on Saturday
that was cut short when AEK fans stormed the pitch and fought Atromitos and riot police with broken
seats, advertising hoardings and whatever else they could turn into weapons.
Fire's Jalil Anibaba -- Getty ImagesIn soccer circles, the home fans represent the 12th man on the
pitch. From the Chicago Fire's standpoint, they had a partially direct impact toward the Fire's
game-winning goal.
With the smoke still clearing from some previously lit flares close to the Colorado Rapids goal,
Fire right defensive back Jalil Anibaba cracked a shot from more than 40 yards out, finding the
back netting during Chicago's 2-1 victory over Colorado in a Lamar Hunt U.
Back in the fall, some Serbian hooligans caused a ruckus at the Marassi in Genoa where the
Serbian and Italian national teams were to embark on one of the better fixtures during Euro 2012.
And it really should've been one of the best games, if only on paper, during qualifying.
Violence in football on and off the field is not acceptable, and I love my Old Firms Derbies, just
not the violence that surrounds it - Of course in AFL, League or Union the more violence the better
but that's another story.
But I'm not interested in which set of fans are more violent, we know in Australia it will be
football, its flares and fans that will come under the most biased scrutiny from the media.
MELBOURNE, Australia The Melbourne Victory soccer club has angrily denied claims its fans are
violent, amid criticisms from police and the state government. A senior Victorian policeman on
Friday said members of the force were reluctant to volunteer to work at Melbourne Victory soccer
matches because of violence among the team's supporters.
Fashion puts it stamp on just about every decade. From 60's suits to 70's flares, the puff-ball
skirts, rolled-up jacket sleeves and torn jeans of the 80's, through to the beginnings of the
anti-fashion trend in the '90's and finally on to the chav-and-Ugg's generation we have now.
Football jerseys have moved with the times too, capturing the styles of the day.
A small disturbance at the end of yesterday's game between Persija and Persijap was instructive.
Earlier in the game there had been a loud speaker announcement telling fans not to celebrate goals
with flares after play head been momentarily held up following Persija taking the lead.
Tensions obviously got a bit high in the end behind one goal and at the end of the game there was
something going on at the back of the enclosure.
Sorry, no match report.
Everything kicked off for an hour after a foul by M Ridhuan left a Persib player on the deck. For
some reason Noh Alam Shah got involved. To be fair NAS gets involved in everything. If he saw two
cats arguing in the street he'd get involved. Cue haraunguing of the ref and then the fans got
involved.
