Arsenal have now gone four League games without a win, but that run could pale into insignificance
if the Gunners don't start improving very quickly. Arsenal may have an "easy" home game this
weekend against Blackburn, but if the DON'T win it may be hard to forecast where the next win will
come from as [.
The next three Arsenal games against Wolves, QPR and Fulham are played in the span of a mere six
days. Rotation is the name of the game in the Premier League and as such you will see just about
every team in the league forced to field bench players or even a second-string side to [...]
The young Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is hoping that Arsene Wenger will be resting some
players over the usual pile-up of games over the festive period, and would love a Christmas present
from Wenger of a starting place with the Gunners. "I can't say when I will play, I don't know,
that's for the boss [.

It was a scrappy win, scrappier than it really should have been, but it was a win and a clean
sheet, so there's an improvement upon the last few weeks.
Matches at Ewood Park provide a bit of nostalgia for me because so far it is the only away
ground I've been to.
For those who haven't yet seen the highlights, check them out while you can below:
Chelsea don't like to do things the easy way. Our boys want to make your heart stop and leave
you hanging on the edge of your seat until the very end.
Was anybody even able to watch this match, apart from those at Goodison? I'm currently watching
the rerun on Chelsea TV.
Three goals, a worrying injury to Ramires, further inability to keep a clean sheet, and three
points.
Nevertheless, three well-taken points from a fixture that we've had immense difficulty with in
recent seasons. I'm pleased, but getting more and more frustrated with the goals we keep
conceding.
Can the Blues welcome back club football with a win against one of our most stubborn
opponents?
It's Everton at the Bridge. Jack mentioned in his preview that we've not won against Everton in
our last nine meetings. That has to end today.
Team news to come.
Frank Lampard, past-it to some, bags his third Premier League hat-trick.
With so much scrutiny on Frank Lampard by the media, our vice-captain proved he's still got it
by bagging three goals against Bolton. Daniel Sturridge also made his mark against the team who
truly helped him improve last season, almost getting his own hat-trick.
Liverpool have today confirmed that there next Carling Cup fixture will be against Stoke City in
the fourth round on Wednesday, October 26th.
Kick-off will be 7.45pm at the Britannia Stadium.
The Reds will be looking to get some revenge after dropping three points on their last visit
despite dominating the game.
David Luiz played 90-plus minutes and the penalty given away wasn't even his fault!
A match against our West London neighborhoods, of course, was never going to be an easy one. But
this was just madness.
When AVB announced that he was resting several players and giving some of the kids ago, I will
admit that I did have a horrible flashback to our last couple of Carling Cup exits: playing the
kids, everyone seeming to pick up injuries, playing with less than eleven men, extra time, etc
etc.
Give the kids some credit.
A recap will be coming shortly, after a quite stress-inducing match that ended in a surprising
Chelsea penalty shoot-out win!
Have a vote on your man of the match:
What a ridiculous match.
Is it possible for a match to be so frustrating and anger-inducing, yet also encouraging? The
inability to finish still fills me with rage, and that Torres miss. I just... I can't even.
Speechless.
I could whine about the fact that two of their goals were offside so it should have been a 1-1
draw, but it also could have been 2-1 to us if Ramires and Torres had scored, and it could have
been different if Rooney hadn't missed the penalty, so it's futile for me to complain right
now.
Fernando Torres is not included in this poll. Not even for a laugh.
Probably our best performance so far this season, obviously greatly helped by the performances
of Juan Mata and Raul Meireles. I started shouting at the TV when Mata was subbed off keep the man
on!
Not a great win, but a win just the same. If we want to have any hope of reclaiming the league
trophy, we need to win these games where we aren't playing so well. And this time, we did.
Well, the first half was dire. Utterly awful. Especially our passing. It was that awful passing
that helped contribute to the West Brom goal Ramires sent a light pass toward Alex, who didn't move
toward it and thus got bullied off the ball.
Welcome to the Premier League, AVB.
Is this seat taken?
First: That shot from Mikel. Brilliant. I told you, the man is going to score this season.
Now as Jack said, a draw away at Stoke isn't exactly a bad result. Especially as we seemed to
start a bit slow and Kenwyne Jones was winning headers all over the place against our defenders as
Stoke lumped the ball forward.
The trophy cabinet at Stamford Bridge will not be entirely empty this season the reserve team,
after collecting their Reserve South division medals last week, are now the national champions!
Final score: Chelsea 1 1 Blackburn (5-4 on penalties).
Blackburn Rovers were our opponents, having beaten Manchester United in another playoff to be
crowned Reserve North champions.
It took two defenders to get our goals today, and two set pieces to become undone again.
Disappointment.
A really, truly lackluster performance for the fans considering it was the last home match of
the season. Torres still looks lost. Benayoun was anonymous. The play was slow and unexciting.
Well. That was a major bummer. Jack is busy putting his burning anger into words for the recap,
so here's the man of the match poll.
Let's face it. At the beginning of March, none of us could even dream about being in this
position. And, even if we had won, we would still need to beat Everton on the last day of the
season.
So ends a great run for the youth team.
It was a fun ride, but the youth team crashed out of the Youth Cup last night after apparently
forgetting to turn up for the second leg of the semifinal. The scoreline is a little harsh on the
boys, but the usual desire seemed to be missing.
While you are watching the first-teamers take on the Brummies at the Bridge tomorrow, please
spare a thought for the youth boys as they play the second leg of the FA Youth Cup semifinal
against the Mancs.
Or, you can try to multitask like me put the first team on the television and mute it, then pull
up Chelsea TV on the laptop to watch the Youth Cup.
So, amidst all this furor over some matches against Manchester United in this little tournament
called the Champions League, there was the exciting matter of the FA Youth Cup semifinal.
I hope some of you were able to watch the match, as the kids were much more exciting and
inspiring to watch than the first team have been lately.
The Youth team has just kicked off against the Mancs at Stamford Bridge.
Can the young guys give us a bit of good news against the Red Devils? Young Josh is captain as
Danny Pappoe is still suspended after a red card in a reserves match against Blackpool a couple
weeks ago.
Do we really even need a poll? Man of the Match seems pretty unanimous from my point of
view.
But a poll we shall have! Because we need to give Ramires a chance to get some recognition as
well. And EBJT who put in another massive performance. Who else do you think deserves some credit
from the match today?
John Terry has been reinstated as England captain. Can he use that achievement to help motivate
his club team against Manchester City?
As mentioned in the preview, a win will send us up into third place. Everything is must-win from
here on out, and it's time to break this unsuccessful streak we've had against City!
WELLINGTON, New Zealand The Wellington Phoenix will play their postponed match against the Brisbane
Roar on the Gold Coast it was announced today. The match which was set to take place last Sunday
night at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium was postponed and moved to January 26 due to flooding in the
Brisbane area.
MANCHESTER, England Manchester United defender Rafael has been charged with improper conduct by the
Football Association. The Brazilian was sent off by referee Mike Dean during United's 0-0 draw with
Tottenham on Sunday. The youngster was furious at being shown a second yell card following a coming
together with Benoit Assou-Ekotto and voiced his [.
