All Premier League matches will use goal-line technology from the start of next season. Representatives of all 20 Premier League clubs ratified a decision to implement Hawkeye technology from next season. The Community Shield at Wembley is likely to be the first game in English football to use the technology.
Paul Scholes, who has been used sparingly so far this season, has sung the praises of the
quality of our squad and is happy with the competition for places.
"You always like to see new players come in even if they're in your position because it's
healthy for the team and exciting to play with the new players," he told ManUtd.
England looks to remain perfect in 2014 World Cup Qualifying as they host Ukraine on September
11, 2012. The match will take place at Wembley Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 3 PM USA EST.
England manager Roy Hodgson
"They (Olympics) have been such a success for the nation. It is terrific they can come and be
paraded at the game tomorrow.
By Clemente Lisi – NEW YORK, NY (Sept 6, 2012) US Soccer Players – After upsetting Mexico at
the Azteca Stadium last month, the United States will try to take that ego boost and refocus its
energies on defeating Jamaica in back-to-back World Cup Qualifiers. The USA travels to Kingston on
Friday (8pm ET - beIN Sport) for the first game.
The U.S. men's national team has a pair of important World Cup qualifiers with Jamaica looming,
and just how big of a role Clint Dempsey will have in those matches has yet to be determined.
The Roger Espinoza news continues today as Honduras announced their roster for the upcoming
World Cup qualifiers on September 7th and 11th, both against Cuba. Even though he's suspended for
their first game on the 7th due to his red card in the Olympics again Brazil, Espinoza has been
named to the roster.
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- It has been nearly 11 years since the 9/11 tragedy, but the effects from the
events that took place that day are still felt by many across the nation each and every year and
the U.S. men's national team are no exception.
Jermaine Jones and the USA tangle with Jamaica again...
(Note: We so wanted to go with "The Beckerman Bowl" as our preview title. Alas, after
careful consideration and line-up review, we stepped back from that headline)
Jamaica's Independence Stadium...also known as "The Office.
It's been more than eight years since the U.S. MNT took the field inside the picturesque confines
of National Stadium, and it was quite the thriller. Grouped together along with Panama and El
Salvador, the teams squared off Aug. 18, 2004 in the first game of the semifinal round. The
Reggae Boyz snatched the lead off a goal from Iam Goodison - off an assist from current
Jamaica coach Theodore Whitmore - and seemed to be heading towards their first ever win against the
U.
Be honest. If we told you that Steve Cherundolo played his first game for the National Team in
1999, would you have believed it?
Well, we've got one better. Not only did he play Sept. 8, 1999, as a 20-year-old, but he did it
right here in Kingston. On that day, he went 90 in the USA's 2-2 draw.
Thomas McNamara converted a 23rd minute penalty to lift 24th-ranked Brown to a 1-0 victory over
Rhode Island in the Bears' season opener at Stevenson Field.
The senior midfielder, who also collected a team-high four shots on the night, put it past Adam
Blanchard from the spot while Brown's defense did the rest in the first game of the Ocean State
Classic.
Injury problems are mounting for Newcastle but Cheick Tiote, who has been out since the first game
of the season against Tottenham has a good chance to be back for our next game at Everton a week on
Monday. Cheick Tiote in action against Spurs Ryan Taylor is presumably out at least six months,

The close season is traditionally a time where clubs jettison their weak players, replacing
them with footballers with the skill to take the club one step further, whether that be to qualify
or European competition or avoid another year's relegation struggle. With that in mind I thought it
would be interesting to see which clubs decided a wholesale change would be preferable to keeping
faith with the players who toiled their way through the 2011/2012 season.
I have to say the news that Raul Meireles left Chelsea yesterday wasn't a surprise really was it?
The only surprising thing about this was that he never ended up with AVB at White Hart Lane.
Meireles had been a long term target for Chelsea if reports were to be believed as recent summers
past.
News coming through that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has been given a two-match touchline ban and
fined £20K for improper conduct during Newcastle's win over Tottenham in the first game of the
season. The Football Association put this up on their web-site a short time ago: Following an
Independent Regulatory Commission held today [Monday 3 [.
Alan Pardew has been talking about the form of his strikers before today's game with Aston Villa at
home, a game we have won these last two seasons, but of course we've only had two league games so
far, Â and Demba Ba scored that great goal in the first game against Tottenham, and Papiss Cisse

Alan Pardew will have a challenging time in the next couple of weeks, Â with Newcastle playing four
vital games, having successfully navigated the first game at home to Tottenham in good style on
Saturday, with a good 2-1 win top start the season off well. Gael Bigirimana - will play in
Athens And as expected the Football [.
Towards the end of last season, taking positives from a game was an accompanying headline for
much of our terrible run-in. It had become a by-word for we've lost again and where can we cover
over the fact that we're blowing third place?
Without wanting to moan after one game, it therefore brought back memories to see the club's
official Twitter feed announce that Brad Friedel was ‘taking positives' out of a defeat.
Dynamo Theory is giving away a ticket in the lower supporters section for tomorrow night's match
against Real Salt Lake. If you want to win that ticket, all you'll have to do is answer a trivia
question. Simple enough.
Just a couple "ground rules". Please only enter if you really want the ticket and will go to the
game, or can give the ticket to someone who will use it.
We're quickly coming to the last part of the regular season here in Major League Soccer. August
is nearly wrapped up as we head into September. The final stretch of games is truly here.
I had a few changes in this week's rankings. One Western Conference club made a big climb in my
book while a couple others continued to stumble.
Whether it is off the bench or after being introduced in the starting lineup, Fredy Montero is
having quite an impact during August. That continued on Saturday night, as the Colombian netted his
first career hat trick at Home Depot Center against Chivas USA.
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic is full of praise for summer signing Robin van Persie,
insisting that the heroic showing of the former Arsenal captain has compensated for the club's poor
defensive form.
Vidic struggled with make-shift defensive partner Michael Carrick as United conceded three goals
in their opening two matches.
Manchester United recovered from an opening day loss to Everton with a 3-2 win over visiting
Fulham. Sir Alex Ferguson made changes after the disappointing first game, including dropping Wayne
Rooney to the bench, while Van Persie gets his first club start. Meanwhile, Fulham came into the
game after beating Norwich City 5-0 to open [.
Manchester United fans hoping for a bright start to the season were disappointed as they were
defeated by North West neighbours Everton in their first game
• There were some bright points from the game, with David de Gea putting in a great performance
with seven saves in total, second only to Petr Cech who made ten saves on the opening weekend
• Paul Scholes and new signing Shiji Kagawa also shone in midfield and were each in the EA SPORTS
Player Performance index's top five for passes completed in the opponent's half from the first
games with 56 and 50 passes respectively
• Kagawa also covered more ground than any other player for United with 6.

it's been a bit fraught over the last couple of days, so let's start with some of the positive
stuff going around this morning. Like Everton. And Robin van Quisling's Manchester United debut.
What's that little boy inside screaming about this morning, Robin? Does he understand the concept
of schadenfreude, because we all do.
Brendan Rodgers The Hawthorns was always going to be a difficult place to travel to for the first
game of your reign, but no Liverpool fans would have thought that a 3-0 defeat was on the cards.
Brendan Rodgers needs a league victory to settle the nerves, and settle one fast. This weekend he

Steven Gerrard insists there is no reason for Liverpool to panic despite their heavy opening day
defeat at West Bromwich Albion.
The Reds went down 3-0 at The Hawthorns, which was their heaviest opening day loss for 75
years.
Manager Brendan Rodgers refused to condemn his players after the match and Gerrard insists there is
no reason to get too upset.
It seems that Belgian players have taken the Premiership by storm this season, and although Eden
Hazard and Thomas Vermaelen have been extremely impressive in the first few games, neither were
quite as imperious as Marouane Fellaini when Everton beat Man United in the first game of this
campaign. The Belgium international has been steadily [.
It finally looked as if the Minnesota Stars FC's luck had turned against Canadian rivals FC
Edmonton. For the majority of the 90 minutes, the Stars preserved a one goal lead in hopes of
winning their first game since July. Not only would then win end the monotony of draws and losses,
but it would [.
Abby Wambach celebrates a goal in front of her hometown crowd
The first game of the Fan Tribute Tour for the U.S. WNT was certainly memorable. It featured a sold
out crowd in Rochester, N.Y, two goals for hometown hero Abby Wambach, eight goals total and some
real emotion after the announcement that head coach Pia Sundhage was stepping down.
Three U.S. internationals are in action today as the second leg of the Europa League playoffs are
contested this evening. Steve Cherundolo and Hannover host Slasz Wroclaw and sit in the pole position of
their series after collecting a 5-3 win in the first leg. AZ Alkmaar is down a goal after losing
1-0 at Anzhi Makhachkala, and Jozy Altidore looks to continue his impressive
strike rate at home.
Shanghai East Asia FC: A new young hope for football in China is a post from: Just Football
These are exciting times for Shanghainese football. Not just because of Shanghai
Shenhua's brash, noisy acquisitions of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba but because lower
down a division, another team from the city, Shanghai East Asia are within
touching distance of promotion to the Chinese Super League.
On Sunday, Geoff Cameron was named man-of-the-match in his first game for his new team, Stoke City.
After weeks of waiting and paperwork, Cameron was finally able to take the pitch after a transfer
that continued the gradual march of ...

Welcome to yet another player ratings! I'm happy to report that, well, we have something happy
to report this week as the Portland Timbers put in an overall valiant effort in securing three much
needed points in this year's Cascadian Cup competition. While the regular MLS season remains
dismal, at least the Timbers are looking like a strong candidate for taking home the regional
cup.

In case you all missed it, the Sounders played a reserve match Sunday afternoon, with lots of
fun developments. Steve Zakuani found the back of the net for the first time since April 2011, and
liked it so much that he did it again for a brace (both goals tied the game from deficits). His
action was mixed between left mid and forward, but he looked great as a midfielder.
