This is where I typically open up with some witty paragraph introducing the article and making a
brief note about the state of the site. Well, I've got nothing, folks. Let's get straight to the
important stuff:
1) Chin to Chicago?
This won't do much to quell those who believe I'm a closet Sporting Kansas City supporter, but
SKC commentator Callum Williams recently tweeted about how Orlando City striker Dennis Chin is
currently on trial with the Fire.
You could say that Revolution fans got their money's worth on Saturday night.
In a display of firepower rarely seen in Foxboro during the last two years, the Revolution
racked up four goals including a SportsCenter Top 10 effort from Lee Nguyen to pound the hapless
Whitecaps 4-1 on Saturday.
Manchester United's transfer window: Sir Alex goes on the offensive - originally posted on
Soccerlens.com
Manchester United are a wounded animal after relinquishing their Premier League title in
last-gasp fashion to cross-town rivals Manchester City in 2011-12. As such, Sir Alex Ferguson
entered this summer's transfer market eager to purchase the firepower and quality to come back in
2012-13 stronger.
Sahin, welcome to Anfield...
Image: telegraph.co.ukLiverpool welcome Mancini's side to Anfield on Sunday as they look to
improve on their performance against West Brom last weekend. Most fans looking at this fixture
would agree that anything is a bonus and so the pressure is somewhat off, this is the kind of game
last season that we'd come out in and we always seemed to fair better against bigger opposition,
but will it be the same again for Brendan this year?
Fernando Torres has had to get used to the pressure of his price tag and the constant scrutiny of
the press and media about his performances ever since he signed for Chelsea. Now that Didier Drogba
has gone, there are already stories about Chelsea "lacking" firepower this season but today
Fernando Torres has a chance to start the season on a high and begin to answer all those critics
with goals against City at Villa Park.
Wotcha gang, back once again with the Rengade Dexy. Giving you a quick once-over of the past
season. Here's part 2, the middle ground.
Everton. 7th
Prediction (9). Dexys Diamond. Cahill.
Yet again, Moyes has worked his usual miracle. I stuck my neck out for a Moyes toffeenosed struggle
this season but 7th is still very respectable given his budget.
The Greatest Striker That Ever Was And Will Be is moving to Juventus on a €6m loan with a view
to a buyout. Juve was spurned by Dimitar Berbatov, left reeling from Fernando Llorente sticker
shock, so with just a day left in the transfer market was scrambling to get some firepower to
support Diego Milito.
Time to live up to the Gunner name by TS So its no surprise this morning when you flick through the
newspapers or watch the media, that everyone is talking about Arsenal's draw with Stoke. As usual,
some players did well, others had a bad game. We all know who was who and this article [...]
The new (surely?) Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has admitted that he has is very disappointed
that the Gunners (former) captain Robin Van Persie has left to join another title rival, but he
still thinks that Arsene Wenger's team still has the firepower to end Arsenal's trophy drought. "I
am disappointed because I wanted him to [.
No matter if Robin van Persie stays with Arsenal or pulls another club's shirt over his head this
season, the London club looks to be a pretty strong side. The team will eventually have last year's
long-term injured players back, such as Jack Wilshere and the new signings are all pretty much
world-class players.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is eyeing Olympiacos ace Kevin Mirallas, according to reports.
The 24-year-old is thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League, with Anfield his preferred
destination.
Rodgers has targeted the Belgian international, who can play either out wide or up front, as he
looks to strengthen his forward line.
Morning. I thought I'd check into the old place after what I can assure is the longest I have
ever let this blog go fallow – three days short of a calendar month. If I leave it three days
longer I'm eligible for CAP subsidies, I think.
It's not quite like I put the dustsheets on because it wasn't as planned as that, but I downed
tools after the season ended and never felt like picking them up again.
LAURENT Koscielny reckons Arsenal's new signing Lukas Podolski could help Arsene Wenger's side end
the seven-year spell without a trophy. The Gunners wrapped up the signing of the Cologne striker
last week and he will make the switch to the Emirates for a fee in the region of £11million. And
versatile defender Koscielny, who played against the German international forward in a pre-season
game, has hinted that his firepower may contribute to a campaign in which we finally lift some
silverware.
The U.S. women's national team are a step away from advancing to the final of the Olympic
tournament, but they will have to go through a familiar opponent if they are to have a chance at
fighting for gold.
With two Sounders FC games this week, it would be easy to forget that the Sounders Women have a
sold out game on Friday. Let's not, though, shall we? This is the final exhibition game before the
start of the season. The opponent is none other than the UW Huskies. So far in their Spring season,
the Huskies are 1-1-1, two of those games being against Seattle University.
With Real Salt Lake losing in their 2012-2013 CONCACAF Champions League opener, the Seattle
Sounders and Toronto FC will aim to pick up MLS's first victories in the competition when they kick
off their respective campaigns on Wednesday night.
The Sounders begin their quest for a Champions League title in the fortress that is CenturyLink
Field, as they host Trinidad and Tobago outfit Caledonia AIA in the Group 4 opener.
Win and move on. Lose and go home. A knockout tournament is not about which team is better, but
which is better right now. Tonight's US Open Cup match between the Seattle Sounders FC and the
Atlanta Silverbacks will be carried at SoundersFC.com for those unable to be at sunny Starfire in
Tukwila, WA.
After agreeing terms and passing a medical, Fabio Borini is manager Brendan Rodgers' first
signing at Anfield.
Rodgers had announced this past week that he intended to sign a player by the end of the week.
The Reds' manager was looking for a player that would fit his football ideology and also provide
much needed firepower in attack.
With their emphatic 4-0 win over Italy in the Euro 2012 final, Spain shattered more records in
addition to lifting a third consecutive international trophy.
Goals from David Silva, Jordi Alba, Fernando Torres, and Juan Mata demolished what was
ultimately a 10-men Italy side with no answer to Spain's vintage possession game.
That's right folks, after a year away from the limelight, I am back in your face like an unwanted
comeback from Steps with my expert analysis on all things Euro 2012. I will admit that like the
dancing popsters, it is very unlikely that I will be hitting the heights of the glory days but I
promise that at least I haven't become as fat as the the blonde one.
UEFA has launched an investigation into Spanish fans racially abusing Mario Balotelli
So far in the first round of the group stage there has been no team nor an individual player
setting this Euro on afire. The closest has been Russia and Alan Dzagoev with Andrey Arshavin
recapturing his 2008 Euro form.
Hola, here's the second of my 4 day run-down of groups and I'm putting the teams in the order I
think will decide the quarterfinal matchups. I'll also be putting in my usual Dexy's Diamond. This
is group B, quite apt when most of the managers whispered a certain B-word under their breath when
they saw the final teams line-up.
With the European Championships just a day away, it is time to start looking at the tournament's
teams, players and match-ups. SBI will offer you a group-by-group overview to help you get ready
for the tournament.
If you are a die-hard who has already digested multiple previews and have a wall poster with the
tournament schedule already mounted in your home, then you're probably not going to find anything
new here (other than a few opinions).
When the Czech Republic first take to the field against Russia, on 8 June, many of their fans may
be worrying just where their goals are going to come from. Michal Bilek's side only found the net
on 12 occasions, despite conceding just eight in a successful qualifying campaign.
The concern can be found in a lack of a reliable goal scorer.
A ‘Group of Death' is ascribed to every major football championships, and Euro 2012 is no

under-achievers, Portugal, leaving poor Denmark to sweep up last place.
Denmark will be seen as the whipping boys for nations looking further than simple group
qualification.

Hmm. So I'm tasked with writing up a post-match recap of this match, and I'm trying to figure
out where to begin. On the one hand, you have to hand it to Vancouver, they executed on the counter
attack and held their own defensively for a vast majority of the game. The Dynamo broke them down
repeatedly, but could only manage to get it in the net one time.
So hot right now! VANCOUVER VS. TORONTO AMWAY CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS - 1ST LEG BC PLACE - WEDNESDAY 10PM ET TV: SPORTSNET ONE
  THE KICKABOUT:
Before the farcical coaching moves made yesterday, Toronto FC's website was extolling the possible
virtues of returning to the all-out defensive style employed by Aron Winter in the semi-final first
leg.
New York Red Bulls (9-5-5) vs. Chicago Fire (9-6-4) William Schulz: Chicago is only one point behind New York in the standings, making a win
very important for the men in red. However I don't think Chicago has what it takes to win this one.
I expect New York to score first thanks to their explosive offense, but their shaky defense will
concede an equalizer.
It's midweek and if there were such things as online tumbleweeds they'd be blowing through the
virtual Arsenal landscape right now.
With pre-season for the non-Euro players still a half a week away (they're probably getting down
in discotheques across the exclusive holiday resorts right now.
In the space of 120 plus minutes, Chelsea washed away four years of anguish, validated nine
years of Roman Abramovich-led investment, and a lifetime of longing from a base of fans salivating
for the taste of silverware on the continent. True to form, it was a battling display from
Chelsea's aging core of veterans that left it late.
It was a debut to remember for the Boston Breakers, who claimed a 3-0 win over the ASA
Chesapeake Charge in their first WPSL Elite contest on Thursday.
The Breakers, who played in WPS for three seasons before the league suspended operations in
January, overwhelmed the Charge with a fast and furious display of firepower as Veronica Napoli,
Jessica Luscinski and Katie Schoepfer all scoring inside of 20 minutes.
Barcelona's squad contains a number of talented individuals such as Andres Iniesta and Cesc
Fabregas as well as the world's best player in recent years Lionel Messi; however, this season the
Spanish league title went to a deserving club: Real Madrid.
There are several reasons as to why Los Blancos triumphed in La Liga following Barca's recent
domination on both the domestic and European fronts.
