Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has said that he does not believe an early European exit for the
club would be a complete disaster.
Reina knows that his side must win their two remaining games and hope already-qualified Lyon can do
them a favour against Italian side Fiorentina, but maintains that the Reds' rich European history
makes up for this season's woes.

Liverpool's hierarchy are piecing together a £100million rescue package to try to turn round a
season that has been branded 'a disgrace' by one of their own players.

Liverpool will feel that they should have won the game at the Stage Gerland against Olympique
Lyonnais, as they dominated for the most part, but crucially lost their concentration towards the
end. Ryan Babel scored a scorcher from 25 yards with a little over five minutes to go, giving the
Merseysiders a great chance of walking [.

It took four rounds of play but the Champions League group stages is finally heating up.
If the group stages finished as they are now, then Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Liverpool would
all be playing in the Europa League.
Jose Mourinho and Inter Milan were five minutes away from an 9th consecutive Champions League
game without a win, when two late goals not only gave Inter the win, but also propelled them to
first place in the group.

The highlight of this weekend's fixtures was the match at the Olimpico in Turin between
Juventus and Napoli. After numerous quality acquisitions over the Summer for Napoli, they hadÂ
been expecting a good start to the season. However, after a less than impressive start, Roberto
Donadoni was sacked and Walter Mazzarri brought in to try and settle the ship.

Liverpool was so close to victory yesterday in Lyon. After giving Lyon their best for 83 minutes, a
Ryan Babel wonder goal broke the deadlock, handing Rafa and the Reds a lifeline in Group E. A win
against the French powerhouse would throw them back in the thick of things. But it was not to be,
as Lisandro Lopez capitalized on some poor Liverpool defending to snatch a 1-1 draw that sealed
Lyon's passage to the knockout stage.

Champions League View: Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC could get 10 points and still not
qualify.
An entertaining set of Champions League games threw up some unexpected results, great games and
the odd ninja (but not a very effective one). Almost all of the big names have a chance to reach
the knockout stages, even though the likes of Bayern and Liverpool have made it very, very
difficult for themselves.

Just when you thought our season couldn't get much worse, along comes Lyon to equalise in the last
couple of minutes. We're not out of the Champions League yet, but we're relying on some serious
favours now.
It's a shame that Babels stunning goal didn't give us the deserved win. And apart from a couple of
defensive errors, can't really fault anyones performance.

Roma-Inter from May of 1999 is another highly entertaining game from one of the most
entertaining Serie A seasons of all time. The 1998-99 season had 3 leaders of the table (for the
first part of the season it was Fiorentina, who were winter champions but were then hurt by the
injury of Batistuta, then Lazio, who looked on their way to the Scudetto but fell off form towards
the end, and then Milan who surprised everyone and stole the Scudetto on the last day).

Tonight Rafa Benitez is on the managerial tightrope when his side faces Lyon in the Champions
