Death holds no favours, death does not discriminate between those who have wasted their lives
drinking, taking drugs and smoking. Death comes but once and it is final. Death is unfair. It takes
the best and the worst that mankind has to offer and does not discriminate between them. Death
cannot distinguish the good from the bad.
Earlier in the week Chairman Peter Hill-Wood said that while he'd obviously like Arsenal to
finish in the top four, it wouldn't be a 'disaster' if that didn't happen.
Obviously he was talking about it from a financial point of view. The implications of playing
Europa League instead of Champions League are obvious.
A year after becoming the heroes who saved Liverpool from financial armageddon, Fenway Sports Group
opted to to become the villains of the day. Not necessarily in the eyes of Liverpool fans but
certainly in those of the rest of the football world.
Sooner or later, one of the big clubs was going to start making noises about the splitting of
television rights.
The word doughty means brave and courageous, an ironic fact given our soon-to-be-erstwhile
chairman's alleged timidity in the transfer market. Of course it's easy to be so flippant when it's
not your own millions being frittered away on fees and wages, but Nigel Doughty's chairmanship will
be remembered for those times when a little more bravery might have seen him achieve his ambitions
of Premier League status for the club [.
Everton boss David Moyes admits he is frustrated by the financial constraints bound on him by the
club's lack of money, but insists he is not envious of the spending power of his opposite number at
Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish.
The two sides will come together on Saturday lunchtime in the first Merseyside derby of the season
which takes place at Goodison Park.
Moyes laments financial divide across Stanley Park
"Liverpool have always had a level of finance which has allowed them to buy a different level of
player than us," says Moyes

La Liga: A change gon' come? is a post from: Just Football
As emphatic as it was, there was something eminently unwatchable about Real Madrid's
opening day 6-0 win over Real Zaragoza. It was unsettling. Too brutal. Too one-sided. Like
watching Manny Pacquiao batter Ricky Hatton if the fight had been made to go all twelve rounds no
matter how badly Pacquiao bloodied his opponent.
Tom Werner says Liverpool will keep investing but backs finance rules
• Liverpool chairman wants to restore 'lustre' to club • Tom Werner says financial fair play
essential for 'competitiveness' Tom Werner, the Liverpool chairman, has said Fenway Sports Group
will continue to invest in restoring "the lustre" of the club but insisted Uefa's financial fair
play rules must be enforced to enhance the competitiveness of the Premier League.
Liverpool Reserves recently enjoyed a two-day workshop aimed at enhancing their conduct as
professional footballers - both on and off the pitch.
The young Reds retreated to a secluded hotel in the Lake District where they listened to a variety
of presentations as well as taking part in some good-natured team building exercises.
Toppling the Murdoch Empire: Could a Pub Landlady from Portsmouth help seal BSkyB's fate? is a
post from: Just Football
While the News Corporation / News International phone hacking storm continues to rumble with
menace, Theo Fan reports on another threat facing Rupert Murdoch, and how the fate of the televised
game and BSkyB could rely on a pub landlady from Portsmouth:
Who will have the biggest impact on domestic football in the next 10 years?
By Gareth McKnight, Australia
With the much publicised transfers of Phil Jones and Jordan Henderson being completed by
Manchester United and Liverpool respectively in the last week for a combined total of £36.5
million, most Premier League managers will be looking to the continent and beyond for their summer
signings.
Danny Simpson once talked Joey Barton into joining Twitter, a place to express your daily life in
140 characters or less and has lived up to his outspoken personality in such a public domain,
speaking about his frustrations at Newcastle with the hierarchy and, of course, the wonderful fans.
Today after talks of Kevin Nolan [.
I recently added an interactive graph of MLS salary info to the site but I haven't done much
with the data since then. With the summer transfer window opening and fans debating whether or
not it is worth it for their MLS club to import expensive Designated Players, I decided to take a
look at how the top earners in MLS compare to their European counterparts.
Football on the moon is a post from: Just Football
My season ticket just went up

My best friends had to give it up
The FA's on the moon.
Loftus Road you're charging what?
The FA's on the moon.
I had the good fortune to take the trip to Seattle yesterday. Man, what a blast. I recommend
that you join the Timbers Army and go on these road trips. We killed the keg by the rest stop in
Centralia on the Lompoc Brewery bus. Thanks for the Kick Axe Lompoc guys!
From Flounder pinnate, to singing "We Are Timbers Army" as we entered Qwest Field to watching
dissappointed and angry Seattle fans walk off with a draw on their home field, it was all great
fun.
QPR: Serious cause for concern? is a post from: Just Football
by Theo Fan
As Queens Park Rangers look destined to enjoy the glory of Premier League
football next season a serious case of rule breaking, dodgy dealing and high profile characters
rumbles on in the background that threatens to rain on the Super Hoops' parade.
Did you know that if you Google Image 'euros', somewhere on that page manifests a picture of
Michael Schumacher?
Is this how one knows you've really made it? When you face is interchangeable for money?
I can't quite think of a more apt description of 'making it'.
A fitting photo, as Futebol Finance, one of the few authorities on these matters, has released
their annual list of 'people you wish you were': football's 100 most amply compensated.
Celtic 6-2 Rangers, August 2000 Your boys took one hell of a beating is a post from: Just
Football
by William Heaney
While Martin O'Neill's appointment as Celtic manager was warmly welcomed by the
club's fans in July 2000, the general consensus was that he would have a huge task on his hands to
build a successful side.
Di Benedetto takeover complete: What is the future for Roma? is a post from: Just Football
Last Friday evening, Thomas Di Benedetto entered the world of Italian football.
He signed a preliminary agreement to takeover AS Roma, and in June will become the
first overseas president in their history, and the first of the traditional big clubs in Italy to
be owned by a foreign individual.
Financial instability continues to see David beat Goliath in Lower leagues is a post from: Just
Football
As has been well documented in recent years there are a whole host of league clubs who are
seemingly operating on borrowed time due to season upon season of poor financial
management.
On the eve of reaching the FA Women's Premier League Cup Final, courtesy of a stunning strike from
Cat Lawson, the Guardian broke the news that should Forest Ladies receive no further financial
backing, their place in that final, and indeed their place in women's football, would be under
threat [...]
This is the second in a series looking in detail at Manchester United's finance. In December I
wrote about the various sources of revenue the club has. This post looks at operating costs.
Revenue minus operating costs equals the famous "EBITDA" (earnings before interest, tax
depreciation and amortisation).
Arsenal on Twitter @UntoldArsenal Untold Arsenal on Facebook here By Phil Gregory As the blog that
has always written on the big issues such as finance and corruption before they become popular, it
makes sense that Untold Arsenal would be interested in a Commons inquiry into football governance.
In particular I often harp on about [.
Seeing as Liverpool are in dire straits again, I thought I would bring up a fact
concerning their biggest problem. Money.
Since 1992, United have ten Premiership titles and have an average net spend of
£11,799,118 per season.
