So, here we stand. Just one game away from finding out who will win the 2012 Africa Cup of
Nations a tournament which stampeded out of the blocks with a thrilling start, but has since turned
into something of a pale imitation of itself with a few drab games starting to crop up as the
stakes get higher.
We have something a little different for you today on Twohundredpercent, as Paul Grech meets Ben
Perry Acton, a player that forsook the English game to pursue a career in Malta. In addition to
this, Ben had a grandfather whose name will be more than familiar to the supporters of Blackpool
and Bolton Wanderers Bill Perry, who scored the winning goal in The Matthews FA Cup Final match
between the two clubs in 1953.

If Costa Rica had any hope of qualifying for the Olympics this summer, it was extinguished in
the second half of tonight's match against the USWNT. While Costa Rica played hard all match long,
it wasn't enough, as the US scored two late goals to secure their fifth straight Olympic
appearance. The US Women's National Team now awaits the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London, where
they will defend their 2008 gold medal from Beijing.

The final match day of the 2012 MLS Combine has kicked off as MLS coaches and scouts make their
final observations and preparations ahead of Thursday's MLS Combine.
The day's first match features the Blue and Green teams, and while there are some interesting
prospects in this game, the main event features the talent-laden and undefeated red team against
the equally impressive white team.
Marcos, goalkeeper of the Brazilian team who won the World Cup 2002, announced his retirement,

With the release of the Union's 2012 regular season schedule, I, along with my colleagues at the
PSP, am buzzing about the prospects of the new season. Just 66 more days (stupid leap year) until
the Union take the pitch in Portland to get Year Three underway. In the meantime, now that MLS has
thrown out last year's balanced schedule (take that purists) we have plenty to talk about with
respect to the construction of the 2012 Union schedule.

termino.
New Years Eve brought Queens Park Rangers to the Emirates for the final match of the 2011
calendar year, and van Persie's last chance to match or break Shearer's record.
Wenger rang in the changes to the starting line up from the disappointing draw versus Wolves on

Liverpool welcome Newcastle to Anfield in 2011's final match, with both squads barely on the
outside looking in at the European places. Tomorrow's guests rode a hot start to the season to the
top three, going unbeaten in their first eleven matches and surprising everyone after expectations
were low entering the campaign.
From fears of relegation to hopes for a top four finish, and from passive defensive football to
pass and move thrills, the 2010-11 season almost ended perfectly for Liverpool after the rockiest
of starts. But almost isn't the same as getting there, and the world rarely conspires to provide
the ideal, storybook ending that might be hoped for.
Bahrain have won the Gold Medal at the 2011 Pan Arab Games football tournament in Qatar.
Bahrain had qualified for the final by virtue of topping their group in the first stage, gaining
back-to-back wins over host nation Qatar and Iraq, before eliminating Palestine in the semi-final
ahead of yesterday's final match.
What do we mean by "prehistoric"? We mean before FIFA adopted co-opted, some might say
women's soccer a couple of decades ago, with its history seemingly dated to the 1990s. Though there
has been some coverage of the pre-war era (especially the interesting focus put on Dick, Kerr
Ladies), the period between the end of the Second World War and the fall of the Berlin Wall is
patchily covered, at least to our knowledge (feel free to leave links to any good books, essays,
papers etc in the comments).
A coaching change at FC Ingolstadt led to an early winter break for Edson Buddle, who was sent
home until the new year. The U.S. national team striker isn't going to lay around doing nothing
during the German winter break though. He has headed to London, where he will spend a week training
with West Ham United.
Should they be playing up?
Oh how everyone talks as if they know what "development" is, and how to do it. Sigh ...
Let's talk a little bit about "playing up" and whether it helps or not.
This weekend our U11′s are going to play in a U12 tournament. This isn't the first time
competing up either.
The championship favorites take on the ultimate Cinderella story as No. 1 ranked North Carolina
faces Charlotte in the NCAA Men's College Cup Final today in Hoover, Alabama (4pm, ESPNU).
The Tar Heels entered the tournament as favorites, and showed their quality in beating a tough
UCLA side in penalties in the semifinal.
No boss, I don't want to go to a press conference.
For all the talk of boring group stage, at least this season's one has been slightly different.
It wasn't the walk in the park it was the previous few seasons. Praise is given where praise is
merit. Olympiacos, Marseille and Borussia Dortmund provided stiff resistance but we've managed to
come out on top.
Other than the games played in preseason, this certainly shapes up to be the least important outing
of the season. We're heading to Greece to take on Olympiakos in the final match of the group stages
of the Champions League. But fortunately for us, we already have first place wrapped up, so there's
no need to wear out our main players in this one.
The U.S. wins the Nike International Friendlies for the first time
The U.S.
edged out Brazil in the final match of the 2011 Nike International Friendlies to win 3-1 and claim
its first trophy in the history of the tournament. First half goals from Rubio Rubin, Tyler Turner
and Wesley Wade (yes, we noticed their first and last names all start with the same letter!
Evening falls over Sutton, and with it comes the final match of the Second Round of this year's
FA Cup. Gander Green Lane has been here before, of course, in 1989 when the team in amber and
chocolate knocked Coventry City out of the competition the last time that a non-league club knocked
one from the top division out of the FA Cup and also in 1970, when a scarcely-credible 14,000
people packed in here to see Sutton United lose 6-0 against Leeds United in the Third Round of the
competition.
The sound of sharpening knives is in the air at St James Park this afternoon, but they're not
for Alan Pardew. Newcastle United arrive here for the final match of the trilogy that will go some
way towards determining whether their early season league position was due to the order of their
league fixtures.
FC Barcelona won their final La Liga match on Tuesday night before flying out to Japan for the
FIFA Club World Cup.
Goals from Alexis Sanchez (2), David Villa and Lionel Messi gave the Spanish and European
champions a comfortable 4-0 victory at home to Rayo Vallecano. The win meant that Barcelona reduced
the gap between themselves and league leaders Real Madrid to three points but the capital side do
have the advantage of a game in hand.
Chelsea 0-2 Liverpool | Carling Cup quarter-final match report
The Shed End of this arena, bedecked for the night in the visitors' red banners, was erupting in
riotous celebration as Craig Bellamy quietly turned and walked alone back to the centre circle, a
player lost in his own thoughts.

BUKIT JALIL: Barely four days after the country celebrated a scintillating
victory in the final of the Sea Games football final in Jakarta, the Tigers suffered a reality
check.
Last night at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, the message was chilling, and yet loud and clear
— that though the Sea Games gold signaled a triumph, Malaysian are still minnows when they step
out of the boundaries of Southeast Asia.
Video: Tomaszewski the 'clown' and Shilton's heroics: England vs Poland World Cup
qualifiers
England's 2014 World Cup qualifying matches have been announced today, with the Three Lions
finishing their campaign with a home match against old foes Poland. England agree World Cup
qualifiers England have faced Poland in seven qualifying campaigns for various World Cups and
European Championships and on two occasions it has all come down to the final match.
Both of the Manchester clubs came unstuck in Europe last night. The Champions League campaigns
of both Manchester City and Manchester United was certainly been amongst the biggest curios of the
start of this season. Imperious and already pulling clear of the pack in the league, they have been
broadly misfiring in their midweek matches, and last night they stumbled again against opposition
that they might have expected to beat comfortably in previous seasons.

Group E
Valencia vs Genk from the Mestalla, Valencia
In what looks to be a tighter group then expected, Valencia know that three points at home against
Genk are a must if they want to control their own destiny before the final match day of the group,
and qualify for the last 16.
Last week, in the wake of England's heroic (cough) win against Spain at Wembley in what can only
be described as the friendly international to end all friendly internationals, we took a look at a
few matches from their past in which the national team had managed to pluck a result from somewhere
against a decent team, but failed to capitalise upon it.

U.S. at Slovenia (today, noon, ESPN2) ... inquiring minds wants to know where will Koman Coulibaly
be watching this match? And what's the over/under on amount of times ESPN replays Maurice Edu's
goal that wasn't a goal at the 2010 World Cup?Since this is probably the final match from the U.S.
in 2011, let's at least cobble together a couple quick thoughts, considering time is at a premium
