Copa Sudamericana reached the semifinals, two Brazilian clubs had the chance to be in the final
4. However, only Fluminense did so. Flu visited Universidad de Chile and one more time relied on
Fred. The ex-Lyon seems to be playing for all the matches he did nothing since the beginning of the
year.

I lived in Ghana for many years, and it is with happy nostalgia that I have seen that the Ghana U20
team has won the 2009 U20 World in Egypt, by defeating Brazil in the final, 4-3 after penalty
kicks! This is the first time ever an African team wins this tournament, and breaks eight years of
South American dominance in the tournament, although Ghana was also in the final in 1993, losing to
Brazil

Another good bit of business from Martin O'Neill.
Aston Villa have agreed a £7million deal with Middlesbrough for striker Tuncay Sanli.
Villa made their move after increased interest from Tottenham and offers from German clubs
Stuttgart and Cologne.
Boro manager Gareth Southgate expressed surprise that the Turkey international was still at the

The Falcons, who gave up two goals in the first 9 minutes this evening, were not able to overcome
that early deficit in falling to the favored IWA Red Knights. The Falcons did narrow the deficit
when freshman Molly Brewer confidently placed her penalty kick in the side netting in the 19th
minute but it was the Red Knights who generated the offense in this game.

Inside Minnesota Soccer has learned of the sanctions that were handed down from the Minnesota
Youth Soccer Association's Tournament Committee last week. Both Mark Abboud and Andy Kassa were
informed through a letter from MYSA that they are both banned from coaching in a State Cup
competition for the balance of 2009 and through the year 2010.

new alignments were announced. 7:00 pm at Ozark High School.

Barcelona is reporting that Thierry Henry's knee injury could keep him out far longer than
originally expected.Barcelona has determined that Henry will not play in the Copa del Rey final,
nor will he play in the final 4 La Liga matches for Barcelona. These statements could certainly
mean that Henry will miss Barcelona's match against Manchester United in the Champions League final
on May 27th.

That was poor from the Arsenal: crashing out of the UEFA Champions League Semi-Final 4-1 on
aggregate to Manchester United.
Arsene Wenger's efforts to compete with Manchester United are failing of late. United won the
Premier League and the Champions League last season, and they're on track to repeat the double,
while Arsenal continue without a trophy since the 2005 FA Cup, when they were outplayed by United,
but won on penalties.

With back to back victories coupled with results elsewhere we have put ourselves very firmly back
into the race for the seventh spot - and with it a place in next seasons Europa League.
My original post on this topic calculated 53 points as the necessary points total to secure this
position, and a couple of games ago this looked on the low side but West Ham have stuttered of late
after a good spell so I am inclined to still believe this number of points should be sufficient.
