Mancini Looking For Another Red Card

Roberto Mancini is dead nuts on getting the oppositions players sent-off!
Two weeks ago Mancini was looking for Martin Skrtel to be dismissed after a clumsy tackle on Yaya Toure in City's 3-0 win over Liverpool in the League, he then wanted Glenn Johnson red carded for his two-footed tackle on Johnson in Liverpool's 1-0 win in the Carling Cup semi-final first leg at the Etihad and last night he wanted Wigan's Maynor Figueroa for a hand-ball on thew half way line and although they may all have warranted a red card, Mancini's attitude towards red card offences seem's hypocrytical to say the least.

Edin Dzeko sighting once again. This time he flew high over the Wigan defense to head the ball home of a David Silva free kick. The 1-0 win established a three point lead over Utd at the top of the table.

Roberto Mancini reignited his feud with Wayne Rooney as he brandished an imaginary red card against Maynor Figueroa for a handball.

Patrick van Aanholt is off once again. Vitesse announced today that the 21-year-old fullback will be joining the Dutch club on loan for the remainder of the season.

In need of games

This is pretty good news. While the Eredivisie is a clear step down in competition from the Premier League, van Aanholt should have a chance to receive significant minutes after an egregious loan spell during the first half of the season.

After starting the season with their customary 4-3-3 formation, Wigan have now lined up in a 3-4-3 system ever since their 3-3 draw with Blackburn on November 19th. Roberto Martinez trialled the system in a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on October 1st, but then reverted back to his familiar 4-3-3 for their following game against Bolton.

Fulham playing Wigan means one thing: Clint Dempsey will score a goal. Those of us bold enough to put money where our mouth is were able to turn £3 into £13.38. Thanks, Clint; thanks Wigan!

Perhaps the result was a bit hard on Wigan, who had most of the ball and spent much of their time in Fulham's half, but when you've lost six on the spin you need a spot of luck, and that was missing today.

The French international rifled home on 81 minutes after a Sylvain Marveaux pull-back. However, Wigan will feel more than a little hard done by after putting an impressive display that will give the Premier League strugglers some hope for the future.

Chile, with both it's coaching situation unsettled as well as its roster, brings an exclusively national league collection of players to face Bob Bradley's crew January 22nd at HDC in Carson, California.

It's a small squad with only 16 players currently named, with six of those players coming from the famed Club Social y Deportivo Colo-Colo which probably has one of the best team emblems you've seen (right) named after a legendary chief of the Mapuche tribe.
