As you're probably aware, Brazilian football (CBF and CONMEBOL for that matter) have no respect
for the international break. So two matches took place in Brazil on Wednesday night one for Copa
Sudamericana and one for the Brasileiro. And it was enough for the biggest collective nervous
breakdown, I've ever seen.

Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou and Abdoulaye Meite were both in the Ivory Coast squad to face
Germany in Wednesday's international friendly (2-2 draw). Neither was available for Saturday's
World Cup qualifiying win over Guinea after the two went all hyphy on each other in training. The
two have since made up (awww).

Two years ago, when he was still playing for Chelsea, Lassana Diarra would rather would rather
flee in terror than speak English and now he's apparently going out of his way to insult the Irish
in the frightening language.
After France won the first leg of their World Cup qualifying playoff 1-0 over Ireland on
Saturday, Diarra allegedly went up to the home side's Keith Andrews and made an insulting comment
that was so bad Andrews refused to reveal what it was:
"I don't want to say exactly what he said, but he knows what it was, which was a disrespectful
comment and it was typical of him, to be honest, and the way that he was.

Remember when you would fall and hurt yourself when you were little (as opposed to when you were
insanely drunk this past weekend) and your mother would try and trick you into thinking your bruise
or scrape was instantly healed by "kissing it all better"? Well, I'm pretty sure that's what the
Fenerbahce physio does for Roberto Carlos (0:30 into the video above) after he took an Abdulkader
Keita punch to the head in the 74th minute of Fener's 3-1 win over Galatasaray on Sunday.

It seems the evolution of women's football in Brazil reached another stage. Female footballers
can also put on a good and old fight on the pitch. It all happened in the match Cesmac 2 1
Sóesporte for the Alagoas state championship. The video is below. And no, don't expect just hairs
being pulled or nails turned into weapons.

Antonio Cassano has reinvented himself. Not only has he changed his physical approach by losing
weight, he has changed his mental approach too, becoming not only more mature, but also a leader.
He is now someone who visits hospitals and gives signed shirts to sick children. He is now someone
who can carry a team on his back, provide assists for his teammates, and entertain the crowd.

Seldom has a talented football nation witnessed the kind of humiliation that the Czech
Republic has suffered in the entire last year. In a World Cup
qualification campaign where they were placed in perhaps the most competitive of groups
alongside Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, and Northern Ireland,
perfection was almost always essential for the Czechs.

Some moments are never meant to be forgotten. The entire world of football witnessed one such
shocking moment a little less than two years ago in London. On a rainy evening at
Wembley, hosts England were expected to advance to the finals of
Euro 2008 with just a draw needed against visiting Croatia.

Nottingham Forest beat rivals Derby County for the first time since March 2003 on Saturday and
Forest striker Nathan Tyson, who scored what would be the decisive goal in the 3-2 win, decided to
celebrate by taking the corner flag and waving it in front of the visiting fans. Derby players took
immediate exception and charged him, which, in turn, caused Tyson's teammates to rush to his
defense and mild brawling ensued.

Millwall and West Ham fans did their best to reenact deleted scenes from the Frodo Baggins flick
Green Street Hooligans, invading the pitch numerous times, while prearranged fights
outside Upton Park led to one man getting stabbed, while another took a dart to the head (yes, a
dart), and many others were left bloodied and injured.

The Football Association (FA) have announced that Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic could
face a three match ban for his alleged altercation with Wigan centre forward Hugo Rodallega during
the Red Devils' five nil victory at the DW Stadium. The FA will review television footage of the
incident to determine if the Serbian defender did in fact slap Rodallega in the face (ostensibly in
response to a blundering tackle on United keeper Ben Foster).

As Chelsea strolled out of Sunderland on Tuesday night, most of Sunderland's players headed home
with their heads down and their tails between their legs. One man, though, is enjoying a phenomenal

In the first half Darren Bent gave the Black Cats a 1-0 lead over Chelsea.

Aside from the glass breaking, pitch invading and steward kicking that all took place during
Zlatan Ibrahimovic's presentation at the Camp Nou yesterday, there was also a bit of a trouble for
one very very dumb Real Madrid fan.
As you can see in the video above at the 0:42 mark, the kid with the cast on his arm is
apparently a Real Madrid fan who gets in a fight with a chubby Barca supporter while those around
him tear off his shirt.

A capacity crowd of more than 78,000 was in attendance at the CONCACAF Gold Cup final on Sunday.

It's time - yet again - for a whole team to get some recognition. All season long we haven't
been seeing teams capitalize on opportunities presented to them. That all changed on Monday when
the proverbial golden egg fell into Newcastle's lap, and they actually took advantage of it! With a
late match on Monday night at home against fellow relegation candidates Middlesbrough, Newcastle
was forced to sit tight and watch while the rest of the Premier League battled for position on the
table.
