CONCACAF, with uncharacteristically fast speed, announced the schedule of the Third Round of World
Cup qualifying within 24 hours of the conclusion of the last matches in the Second Round.

With the decisive series of World Cup qualifiers over the next five days, it's time to look around
the region and find out how preparations are going. GROUP A El Salvador left for Suriname
yesterday, needing just a point to win passage to the third round of the qualifiers and a win to
set a new record for consecutive victories in World Cup qualifiers.
I have seen reports on various forums that the St. Lucia - Aruba World Cup qualifier, originally
scheduled for yesterday, has in fact been moved to a future date. If you look at the CONCACAF World
Cup qualification page on Wikipedia, you will see that the dates of the tie have been moved to
July, but the official page of the Aruban federation still lists June dates for the two matches.
FIFA announced the draw for the extra-preliminary round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers for the
CONCACAF region this afternoon. As expected, they are using the FIFA World Rankings to determine
the bottom ten national teams in the region with the cutoff being the March 2011 rankings. Those
rankings will freeze in place the composition of the teams that enter the first three phases of the
qualifying competition.
